animation Suppose Ash Ketchum was to Feud with Giovanni in the Pokemon Anime?

As a Pokemon fan, I like most people get frustrated by the stagnancy of the anime. However unlike most people, I don't take my frustrations out on the main character Ash Ketchum, as I tend to feel sorry for him more often than not and his flaws are clearly no fault of his own. It's mainly the fault of the writers, producers, etc. 

 

One of the main things I would like them to do is have Ash start feuding with higher ranking members of the Team Rocket organization as opposed to the three bumbling fools whom I have personally grown to despise with a passion: Jessie, James, and Meowth. (Sorry to those who are fans of them.) 

 

Maybe they could have Ash feud with the Team Rocket boss himself: Giovanni!

 

In the games, the player get's to battle Giovanni at least 3 times. So why not have Ash Ketchum feud with the boss. It would be something fresh, would raise the stakes, and would make for some truly epic moments.

 

There's also a rumor within the fandom that Giovanni is Ash's biological father. I'm not going to debate on whether or not this is canon, but if this were the case, it would make for some particularly interesting storylines as well as several questions surrounding his mother's association with the Team Rocket boss.

 

What do you think about this concept? Do you think they'd be able to use this concept in the actual Pokemon anime? Would it work as opposed to the constant feuding with Jessie, James, and Meowth?

I remember "Mewtwo Returns" as well as the "Unova's Survival Crisis!" arc having Giovanni finally take some direct action.

Only TWICE throughout the Pokemon Anime's 20 year span. 

 

Do you suppose the events of those episodes could have or should have prompted a full scale feud between the Pallet Town trainer and the Team Rocket Boss?

It would have been nice to see Giovanni actually do something in the main anime for once. But I don't know if this would make Ash any less of an uninteresting character.

Well, there was the confrontation in Pokemon Live...

 

It would be an interesting idea, but I have a sneeking suspicion that the writers would screw it up. I can just picture it: Ash loses his first battle and then goes out to train to get better (filler.) Then he'd probably barely lose in the final match, Officer Jennies show up, the boss smoke bomb retreats away, the whole arch will be inconsequential/never mentioned again and Jessie and James keep hounding him through the next region.

 

The writers have a really bad habit of doing this sort of thing... But I would love to see the possibility of a reformed James joining Ash on his journeys.
