gaming Resident Evil 7

So RE 7 was released a couple days ago, and I must say, I'm enjoying it a lot. They pretty much brought back all of the stuff from older RE games, such as save rooms, combining items, limited ammo, puzzles, etc. Madhouse mode, the most difficult mode in the game, also brings back the limited save system as well, where you have to collect cassette tapes scattered around the house in order to save. I think one of the huge differences from older RE games, though, is lesser enemies around the mansion itself, at the beginning at least. It seems like they wanted to make the immortal Baker family the main threat of the game, having a Nemesis-like enemy constantly chasing you around the house.

 

All in all, a very good Resident Evil game, and I'm glad Capcom decided to change the direction they were going from previous titles such as 6.

 

What about you guys? How do you feel about the new Resident Evil?

It may just be me but the setting is SUPER off putting to me from where the series came from.

 

I admit I havent played it and only seen the first few hours of the game so thats all I know but from what i've seen the theme and setting feel like they're from a completely other game. If they named it something else and started a new IP I think I would have been much more receptive to it but by natural comparison to the previous installments.

I bought it yesterday and I have played it for about an hour. I was originally skeptical of the game because I felt they were trying to make it into something that it never really was. That being said, I do like what I have played of the game so far. The change of perspective seems like a breath of fresh air after all the previous installments of the series. However, I do think it seems like a entirely different game because of it. I think it would have been better to reboot the series completely than to have it connected to the previous games.

I think that it's great that the Resident evil series is going back to it's old horrifying roots, while also putting in a whole new layer of perspective ( not a pun I swear ) to the franchise. I'll totally get it when I can.
