I always thought it was assumed that the map did give her that power, since it was tied directly to the Rainbow Powers.

 

Magical Mystery Cure would have to be at least two parts.

Thar and or I would have had Starlight's backstory involve her getting a cutie mark in magic at a very young age which would have caused the other fillies and colts in her village outside of Sunburst to ridicule her, and her parents would have been really strict and would have forced her to spend most of her time studying and practicing her magic, which would have also added onto the other foals to treat her as some kind of snob and continuing to treat her awfully for her cutie mark.

That would have helped give us a decent reason why she hates cutie marks and how she become super powerful in magic.

Yeah I also find the official reason why Starlight turned villian was pretty bad. Why people hate on her rushed reformation when they can hate on her rushed villification? xD

 

I would edit a dialogue from season 6  finale, just the beggining where twilight and starlight are talking

 

Twilight Sparkle: I've been meaning to move these older books to my reference section for a while. Got to keep the new books front and center! Thank you both for your help. Starlight Glimmer: Are you kidding? After all you've done for me, this is the least I can do. Twilight Sparkle: Oh, please. I haven't done that much. Starlight Glimmer: Nah. I would edit/shorten those "You had to be there" inside jokes in "What about Discord." Not only felt they forced/overdone, they also lasted way too long.

 

That in itself would make the episode more watchable for me. Especially because there are several parts of the episode I really enjoy, but I always seem to skip those inside joke scenes.

Season 6 final, Thorax "I can feel the love inside me slipping away." to something like "I can't bear this for much longer." or anything that I can actually take seriously, I feel like that single line completely ridicules the climax.

In "Times They are a Changeling", I'd change the scene where a hurt Thorax pointlessly changes into a rock.

 

The scene would have still worked if instead, Thorax just simply curls up in sadness back in the cave, then in bitter anger lashes out at Spike when the dragon comes back to apologize.
