ManaMinori 4,145 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 (edited) It's a prison for the most horrifying monsters, but does this place have a ruler? The royal sisters can send creatures to banishment in Tartarus, so does this mean they are contracted with whatever ruler presides there? Or are the sisters the rulers of it? (Sunbutt did send out a lost dog flyer, when Cerebus ran off....Seems awful suspicious) If Tartarus did have a ruler (that wasn't the royal sisters), what do you guys think they would be like? True to FiM's status quo breaking, I can imagine him being this cute, fluffy pink, adorable little fluffy centuar, rather than some Satanic beast Edited February 11, 2017 by Nightmare Muffin Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Goat-kun 2,528 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 It's a neckbeard with a fedora hat of invisibility who literally lives in everyone's basement where he's collecting live MLP merch.
sweetolebob18 728 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 LONG ANSWER It's been going on 50 years since I read Bullfinch's Mythology (If you are interested in Greek mythology, I'd start there) IIRC, in Greek/Roman mythology, the1st beings were Uranus (the Universe) & Gaia (the Earth). They had numerous children, some monsters & some became the elder Gods, the Titans. Saturn, the eldest led a revolt against Uranus & drove him off. For this, he was named ruler of the elder Gods, the Titans. Being worried that his kids would do the same, he made his wife swallow them after they were born (Being immortal, they survived but I doubt they were happy about it). Gaia took pity on Saturn's wife. Wife (ICR the name) disguised a rock, swallowed it & had Jupiter raised in secret. When Jupiter was old enough, Gaia gave wife an herb & she vomited up the entire family (that must have been ever so much fun for all concerned) Jupiter led the battle, his brothers, sisters, & some of the Titans helped + Gaia brought forth some helpful monsters. After the war, most of the losing Titans + some monsters were imprisoned in Tartarus (being immortal, the Titans couldn't be killed & hadto be locked up) The 3 male Gods drew lots. Jupiter got the earth + rulership of the Gods, Pluto got rule of the dead & all the realms thereof (including Tartarus) & Neptune got the sea. Jupiter was technically their boss, I suppose but Neptune & Pluto had a great deal of autonomy. SHORT ANSWER Tartarus is a max security prison. Some Gods & the worst monsters are there. Pluto is in charge of all the realms of the dead. Some humans were punished for the evil they did in life, but IIRC they weren't in Tartarus

pnylvr 185 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 I got the impression that Tartarus was part of Equestria (in the sense that a prison is part of the country it's in), not a realm unto itself.
Number62 1,258 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 The ruler is either invisible/intangible, dead, or a measuring stick.
Ruddboy Olaf 10,628 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 One of the princesses probably. But, I assume since they're not there 24/7, they have a warden. Cerberus is also a possibility.
Steve Piranha 29,432 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 As far as it's been seen, Tartarus is a prison for the biggest douches in Equestria. But it hasn't shown to have a ruler, or an onlooker apart of the big three-headed puppy 1 Sig by Discords
Midnight Seashell 206 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 It's possible that there's some sort of jail warden who governs Tartarus if not, then the biggest and strongest monster is incharge.
cmarston1 5,959 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 I don't really think so. It seems more like some kinda big prison for super dangerous magical beings, and the Cerberus being the warden.
