The King(s) of the Genre(s)

Video games have tons of genres. I mean, A LOT of them. With each genre comes hundreds upon hundreds to potentially thousands of games that specialize in a specific genre, sometimes mixing between different ones.

 

With each genre, there are games that rise above the rest and manage to do things in that genre other games simply haven't done. They master their craft and are pinnacles of what that genre is about.

 

So let's dive into this big pool! To you, what games or game series are the absolute kings of their respective genres?

 

For me, I can start off with an easy one:

 

Racing: Forza Motorsport 6

This is a game that I have absolutely loved since its 2015 release and it is because of Forza 5 that I began to love these types of games. Forza 6 is basically 5 jacked up a few notches. Wit ha plethora of things to do, over 500 fully detailed cars, amazing graphics, 24ish courses recreated beautifully, rain variants, night variants, custom paint schemes, tons of online stuff, the rewind feature and the awesome leveling up system, this is a game and series that I feel absolutely destroys the competition. It might not be the most absolutely realistic racing sim ever, but it nails pretty anything that could make a racing game fun.

 

Simulation: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

While the first game is the by far most nostalgic game for me in this series, RCT2 ironed out some of the flaws of the original. What we have is theme park building amazingness. Yes, I know of Planet Coaster but I haven't played it. So for me, RCT2 holds the title for best simulation/management game.

RPG: Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

 

 

 

 

King of RPGs not a Final Fantasy game? Yep. I firmly believe so. In fact, it's a MARIO GAME. With it's cast of colorful characters, well-executed humor, absolutely brilliant soundtrack, and nearly perfected combat system (in my eyes), it's silly RPG nirvana. I mean seriously, how often do the main villains of RPGs say almost everything in hilarious food-related metaphors like "the mustard of your doom"? I am pretty sure only Fawful's done that. It was just done... so well...

Car Combat: Twisted Metal

I've tried other car combat games (Carmageddon, Glacier, Full Auto, Motor Mayhem, etc.), but they just can't compare to Twisted Metal. Especially Black, Head-On and 2012, which I think are the best in the series.

There's probably a lot of people simping for Halo, or CoD or even Half-Life, but I doubt any of them would be here without DOOM, heck, even after a long hiatus from the "Good but not the same" DOOM 3, the franchise made its big return kicking ass and taking names

Platformers(Both 2D and 3D)

For Platformers this one isn't really hard to think about, 35 years later this series is still going strong, with tons of games still taking cues from it

Adventure games

Likewise, Zelda is the same for Adventure games

A man of culture right here. I love that game, with the whole  apocalypse setting, spikes/leathers and cars explosion/violence, crazy clowns, ects, this game has it all.  I didn't play the 90's one, but the most recent ones was just grand.

Anywho, 

The King of 8bits adult game: Hotline Miami. 

Story is good, and with the all flashy neon lights and colors, and people wearing animal masks killing mobsters, really grab my attention. I even read all their comics!
