The history behind alicorns?

Hi! I have been talking to my sister about the alicorns of MLP, and I thought I should make a post about it.

I was telling myself, alicorns aren't born naturally, based on season 6 of the show, when Flurry Heart was born. Celestia had mentioned that the birth of an alicorn was never seen, or recorded in pony history. Then I asked myself, how did Celestia, Luna and Cadence become alicorns? I was thinking, maybe it was the same way as how Twilight became one at the very end of season 3. Magic was used. But who used magic on the princesses? Were they pegasi or unicorns before they earned their alicorn title, just as Twilight was a former unicorn who had just gotten a pair of wings?

Here's my story:

I assumed that Celestia and Luna were former unicorns, due to Celestia's nephew, Prince Blueblood, being a unicorn himself. And although Celestia's niece, Cadence, was a former pegasus, Cadence was ADOPTED.

Now, I believe Celestia had given Cadence a horn... but who gave the two sisters wings? I made a theory of Starswirl the Bearded giving them such power, as he has created more than 200 spells from scratch.

ANOTHER THEORY I'VE CREATED ON ALICORNS:

Remember how Twilight was Celestia's unicorn star-student? Do you guys think that Sunset Shimmer would have become an alicorn too if she hadn't abandoned her studies with Celestia? And since Twilight's talent is magic, and Starlight Glimmer is now Twilight's pupil, then after years of mentoring, would Starlight earn this title too? Just a thought... :P

If my own stories are not right, then I don't know what is, and when I find out the true story and it is different (the history of the two sisters and so forth) I can't imagine what my reaction would be.

Well, Celestia said that the birth of an alicorn is something EQUESTRIA has never seen. That doesn't mean, that there isn't a land beyond equestria where alicorns are born naturally. Maybe this land is where Celestia and Luna came from to defeat Discord.

As we have seen in the show, magic is another way how an alicorn can come to be. But could you imagine an unicorn that "creates"an alicorn? Maybe only alicorns can turn others into alicorns. But that would mmean, that there has to be an alicorn who turned Celestia and Luna into alicorns. And where else shall these alicorns come from, if not from a land beyond equestria?

Another theory would be that Celestia and Luna were born before equestria even existed. They were seen on the flag that the founders of equestria hissed when they founded it, so they had to already exist at this time.

But who knows, what theory is right? (seriously, I'm wondering if Hasbro even knows it)

Sadly, we will most probably never get any real alicorn lore :(

There was supposed to be a large chunk of alicorn lore dropped in the movie's first draft, but that got scrapped due to them wanting the movie to be accessible to newbies.

Sad. I understand wanting to bring more people in, but it's generally not a good idea not to take a lot of stuff out - that just drags further out from the original material.

People (non-bronies, and possibly some bronies) will probably still love the movie anyway. shrugs

We just need to hope that maybe, just maybe, a future episode will borrow from the old alicorn lore. But I don't have my hopes up. The writers normally never  even go near the subject.

I'm hoping for possible alicorn lore this season-- I think there might be a heavy focus on the Universe's past in the season due to the upcoming legends of magic series and the shadowlock arc being about information from the past.

Yeah, Sadly :(

I think hasbro might be banking on the Series 80s household name for getting people in more than anything.

Whoa!

This changes everything. What I find especially intriguing just from the description is that the series ties into Season 7. Which may or may not mean something alicorn or Starswirl-related could be on the horizon in upcoming episodes...

I could believe Celestia and Luna being born unicorns and being really talented at raising and lowering the sun and moon as groups of unicorns used to do that before they came to power, or the two being born alicorns in a remote kingdom far away from Equestria, filled with other alicorns, who have either went into hiding, or went the way of the air nomads in Avatar.

Nah, the stuff of McFlurry being the first alicorn born IN EQUESTRIA, is easily explained that other alicorn we're born in other lands. In fact, Celly and Luna were NOT born IN Equestria. They were born in Canterlot, but it wasn't part of Equestria back then. And yes, they were born alicorns
