Behind the Scenes!

You know what we need? An MLP behind the scenes documentary! We've had many documentaries about bronies and the fandom, but within the DVDs the episodes come with, do we get any behind the scenes footage of the show being made? Other than the usual notes from the writers and Jim on Twitter, we don't get much news about behind the scenes, and how the show gets made. We need something like this! Wouldn't you agree?

That would be pretty interesting.

I would love to hear some of the many unused concepts for episodes and other things like that.

There was a panel where Jim Miller and company took everyone through the entire process from beginning to end.

Things have changed as they have a slightly more assembly line process now ... so a doc with high production values and an update to this kind of information is something I would love.

I'd love to know what the hell happened with Newbie Dash for it to come out the way it did

It, like many of the episodes, feels like a committee writing job. It was just one of those instances that the final product was not ... good. Obviously the writers, boarders, director, Hasbro, and all were fine with the concept of a low key moment and it's presentation. When an episode goes well it's a team effort. Same when it sucks.

The few episodes that had limited involvement (no notes from a million directions) was Amending Fences. You can tell. One of the reasons the head writer gets the big episodes is because it eliminates some voices and allows consistent and clear storytelling, at least a little better than a freelancer taking constant direction, editor, and production notes.

Newbie Dash was definitely not written by one voice. XD
