Anybody lost things that meant a lot for them?

I just lost a necklace that I didn't really use as a necklace. It was pretty old with lots of memories, but it had lost it's sentimental value. I just liked to swing it around when I went out since I'm pretty action-loving, it helped me calm down a bit. Really didn't think I'd actually feel anything when I lost it, but jesus christ now that it's gone it feels so empty lmao. So meaningless, I do realize that there's SO MUCH MORE that I could have lost that would have been a lot worse, but can't help it LOL

Humans really tend to not appreciate things when they actually have them.

Anybody lost things that meant a lot for them?

My beagle, Daisy. She was 10 years old and staying with my uncle while my grandparents were out of town. She slipped out without her collar. We had the police dogs track her, and apparently she almost made it the 4 miles home before being picked up. I got her when I was only 2, and she meant the world to me. I still hope one day someone will check her microchip, so I have a chance to say goodbye.

Everyone has good inside them, if you look hard enough

I lost a keychain around 9 years ago, I think?  It was a multi-headed dragon made of sterling silver, you could stare at the thing for hours but you wouldn't know which head sprouted from which neck, it was beautiful.  Apparently, it was based off of some folklore?  I don't quite remember which one though.  I used to carry that thing everywhere with me until it fell off of my backpack at school one day, could never find it again.  I even retraced my steps but I guess someone picked it up and kept it, I just hope they enjoy it as much as I did.  When I went back to the place I bought it from, they didn't carry it anymore unfortunately...  My brother gave me one of his keychains from Warhammer 40k but it just wasn't the same as my old keychain.

I lost my favorite house to a greedy landlord. My family and I loved living there but our landlord kept demanding more and mo re money.  We had only 3 months to move.

The most important things that I've lost over the years have been some of my old toys. I've always had (and still do) a strong attachment to my toys and consider them a part of myself and family (especially the plushies). When any of them has gone missing it's been a matter of a lot of distress, and not only when I was little. The same applies now. :pout:

It's sad to lose things you love. But I always was pretty easy with material stuff cuz nothing is eternal. To lose human connections can be much more painful for me.

Dunno why, but only couple years ago I had much more high opinion about things with history.

Well, one of the few things I'll miss from Bolivia, is an apartment at a lake's edge my parents purchased a few years before they where killed. It was a blast that thing, one of the few things that made me tolerate visit that country. But now, I don't wish to ever set foot to that country. And while it kinda hurts I'll never enjoy that again, it's a small price for an actual life

My two cats, Sergeant Solan and Applejack. Two incredibly warm, beautiful and bright stars in an otherwise star-less and cold Winter sky. And two loves of my life. Solan unfortunately passed away in Summer 2012 due to cancer. I could go into more detail on how completely and utterly broken both my mind and heart were, but I will leave it at that. Applejack kept me sane, kept me.. Human throughout the entire ordeal, and the depression following the loss of Solan. And when I had to put her down in 2015, despite looking for months for a new home for her.. Nothing. Nothing for an entire week. Empty inside, feeling nothing, sensing nothing. Then I just.. Burst out crying. For hours on end. If I could bring my love with me to my apartment, you bet your ass I would take her with me. A more cuddly, a more.. Clingy and lovely cat I have never had. Always demanding attention, always wanting a cuddle, always wanting to lie on my lap and just.. Sleep, optionally cuddle. I always picked her up a certain way since she were a wee kitten. And the moment I starting handling her, she started purring before I had even picked her up, as she knew cuddling and a good time were always coming.

...I miss her. I will always miss her. Although Solan were a bright star as well, Applejack were the brightest. The one I loved the most. My only hope is that she forgive me for putting her down. If I had any other choice, I would take it without question.

Solan and Applejack didn't just mean a lot to me. They were my everything. I loved them, and still love them, from the bottom of my heart.

Of course. I received two beautiful sapphire rings for my birthday one time from my grandma and aunt. It was ridiculous how I lost them.

I lived in this house with plush, ugly, shag carpeting and the rings were a bit loose. They slipped off while I was eating and I saw Exactly where they fell.

It's like the damn carpet led to freaking Narnia or something because I got down and searched immediately and I never ever saw them again. I was very upset and they were upset too.

  • Almost my entire collection of Nintendo DS games, including Pokémon Diamond (I had a save on there that beat the Elite Four almost forty times, even solo'ed it with a Rayquaza about 10 times, and almost solo'ed it with a Dusknoir), and Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (Best game ever created ) :(
  • A pillow from my mom's open heart surgery that she had about a year before I was born or so (that was shaped like a heart). I can't believe I tore that thing apart... It was so special to me. Now I use a generic rectangular pillow that's just unnecessarily big, and isn't even particularly comfortable.
  • My first piece of MLP merchandise that I bought a few years back. It was a Dashie keychain, and I have no idea where it is.
