"Capra Blackwater, and there is nothing to thank me for, at least, not yet."

 

Having solved that minor situation, Blackwater locked his steely gaze on the magician.

 

"Now, who are you and what can you offer this quest?"

"My name is Magicon and I'm from Manehattan. My specialty is perfecting ancient magic with the technology and resources of our modern Equestria. I'm skilled in magic, but even more so in defense magic. Does that answer your question?"

"I" Flare said walking up to Magicon, MidnightSong, and Capra, "Am Flare Blitz. I can create streams of fire when I fly. Also I have a pet Phoenix so that helps." He then looked around at everypony else. "Hmm I suppose we have a nice little team here, finding the cure will be a pice of cake." Flare said arrogantly.

Chillax emerged from his out-of-sight-position underneath the table and addressed the group. "I don't know if it'll be a piece of cake, but I'm sure we'll be up to it if we try." He then turned directly toward Blackwater. "The name's Chillax Pacify, and I've never had any experience adventuring, though I do have some experience with the rougher side of life." he said as he brought his hoof up to his broken horn. "My magic isn't as good as it used to be, but I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve in case some situations need a little defusing."

Blackwater began stroking his goatee as he thought through the lineup.

 

"Hmm. Well, this could possibly work." he mumbled half under his breath. "Mr. Pacify, your magic for 'defusing', as you put it, can be quite useful indeed. A pegasus is always good to have for scouting purposes." he said as he gestured towards Flare. "Just don't catch anything on fire and keep yourself under control. And you..." turning towards Magicon. "Your knowledge of ancient magics could potentially be a key component to this endeavor, due to the high likelihood that this supposed cure is magical. So, while I am surprised that ponies of more experience haven't shown up or been summoned for this mission, from what little information on your skills that you all have told me, I feel cautiously neutral, bordering on slightly optimistic, about the probability of success for this quest."

 

Blackwater leaned forward in his chair,

 

"Now, I do not believe I have properly introduced myself. I am Capra Blackwater. I am a professional explorer. I have spent quite a lot of time trekking through the forgotten historical locations of Equestria in search of ancient texts and magics. I have much experience traveling the wilds of Equestria, I know many trails and shortcuts through the aforementioned wilds, and I have delved in to more caves and ancient ruins than I care to remember."

 

Behind the calm and collected exterior, Blackwater's mind was sizing up his companions; running through the myriad scenarios that they could possibly encounter.

 

"Midnight Song is a liability, but he can be tolerated. He'll probably get himself killed early on. Flare Blitz needs to be taken down a peg, but that will occur naturally as we progress. Chillax Pacify will be useful against wild animals, but I question his ability in a real fight due to his size. Perhaps he will surprise me and do well, or perhaps he won't and thus end up dead. Magicon is enigmatic and potentially could go either way. He will require close observation."

Cain nodded towards the guards, smiling, and walked through the open gates. Going up the large flight of stairs towards the conference room. He was nervous about meeting the princesses, as well as the other ponies who undoubtedly signed up for the quest.

Stopping at the door, he composed himself, and opened them.

Blackwater glanced up at the maid and smiled. "Why, yes. I would like a glass of water please."

"Certainly" The maid smiles at you as she moves to go get you said glass, when...

 

*Chillax popping out from under table*

...pops out right next to her from the underside of the table, startling the poor maid as she jumps into the air in shock. When she comes back down, nearly breathless, she says "Don't do that kind...er..eh..." She pauses as she gets a good look at you, than adds "I'm sorry, but I don't think the Princess had colts in mind when it came to this quest."

Seeing the small debacle, Cain, still standing in the doorway, frowns and asks "What? Did I come here for nothing then?"

Chillax lets out a sigh at the maid's reaction. "I'm not a colt miss, I just didn't grow as much as the other stallions." hoping not to make her feel awkward he added with a wink, "happens to me all the time, so don't worry about it, just chill."

The maid looks at you for a moment, unsure whether to believe it or not, but after a moment shrugs and gives you a smile.

 

"I suppose it doesn't matter if your a stallion or a colt, as long as your willing to help the Princess, I think thats all that matters. So hun, is there anything I can get you?"

"Oh maid!" Flare said walking up to her. "Celestia has a Phoenix correct? Could you get something for Solaris over here? He gets....frigidity when he's hungry, and I don't feel like dealing with another fire so could you please get something?" Flare said with some urgency in his voice.

"Sure thing sir, I'll be sure to get that for your feathery friend there." She turns to the rest of you who are present and asks "Anypony else need anything?"

"I'm fine thank you" Said Song with a polite smile

"No thanks." Magicon politely said observing the new pony who just entered the room. "And what is your name?"

[Cain 24]

"Cain." Bowing his head, he brought his right front hoof across the other in a mock courtesy. "So I'm assuming we're all here for this quest then, eh?" He said, walking around the table until he found an empty seat.

GM: Who all hasn't shown up yet? Eg, who hasn't made it to the gate at least?

 

The maid nods and heads out, and several minutes later arrives with food for a phoenix, and a glass of water for Blackwater.

 

"Here you are sirs, if there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to ask."

 

She then pulls a small feather duster from her apron pocket, and begins dusting the various tables and bookshelves in the room.

"No no im fine." Flare said has he took the food. "Ok Solaris eat up." The Phoenix happily starts pecking at the food. "Oh thank Celestia he likes it, disaster averted. So when are we gonna, you know, Save Celestia and whatnot?" He asked.

Synic muttered at the commotion outside the worn-down inn he was staying at. On the outside, it looked like any other Canterlot building, beautiful and expensive. But the inside told a different tale. Curious to see what the noise was that was keeping him awake, he stood up slowly and stretched, wobbling to the door. When he stumbled out of the building and regained balance, he stalked his way over to the post where a small crowd of ponies had gathered, shoving his way through the group, he narrowed his eyes to read the flier they were staring at. Something about Celestia being in trouble? Maybe the royals will pay me. I could use those bits. He grumbled and snatched the flier off the post hastily.

 

"Hey, I was gonna take that!" a young colt hollered at him.

 

"Bah." Synic didn't bother to reply, storming off to the gates.

 

 

When he arrived at the castle he attempted to walk straight through the gates, but the guards moved in front him, blocking entrance. Rolling his eyes, Synic held up the flier.

 

"I have a flier, alright? Let me in."

 

The guards saw the flier and reluctantly let him pass.

"I'm assuming you've all introduced yourselves to eachother, but do me a favor and repeat that part? As I said, I'm Cain." Cain leaned back in the chair, stretching out, as he knew they'd be there for a while.

Peeps approached the gates of Canterlot castle and stopped for a second to gaze on them with reverence. "I never thought a pony like me would end up here." She thought as she entered the courtyard and walked forward through the immaculately groomed palace grounds. "It really is beautiful... No Peeps the princess needs you, you can't dawdle here." Peeps had received the summons to the castle. She knew that if anyone could help save the Princess and Equestria it was her.

 

Peeps approached the expectedly dramatic double doors to the Canterlot castle, and nervously smiled at the guards as she held up her summons and was nodded through. Peeps walked down the hall and admired the opulence of the decor. She felt as if the lines of portraits of previous Equestrian rulers lined the walls. The corridor ended with a large framed portrait of Princess Celestia when she was still glorious and well. Peeps took a deep breath and let out a wistful sigh longing for the days that Equestria's princess took care of her subjects, when there was no need for her subjects to take care of her.

 

Peeps walked slowly, her pace decreased in inverse proportion to the awe she felt at her royal surroundings. Peeps turned left at the end of the hall and walked along that corridor until she ran into a pony with a clipboard. She showed him her summons and he said "Ah, you must be looking for the conference room. Right this way." Peeps picked up her pace to match that of the very business-like pony that lead her to a large door and left her there and raised a hoof to indicate that she should stay. She watched him walk away quickly as if he were on a mission then turned back to knock carefully at the door.

GM: There is a sudden flash of light, and the pony known as Jumping Bean appears in one of the seats. Just for the sake of insanity and randomness, only Chillax notices this. Jumping Bean is surpisingly oblivious to this sudden event, and acts as if he was there the entire time.

 

The maid turns at the knock, and walking over to the door, opens it and sees your flyer "Oh, another pony here to help the Princess, please please, come in dearie. Is there anything I can get for you?"

 

As she is guiding you to a seat, a set of double doors along one of the walls in the room opens, and in steps in none other than the Princesses, with Luna leading a very tired looking, but still smiling, Celestia. Two guards also enter the room, and several times try to assist Celestia, but she waves them off. "It is alright, I'm just tired." The guards reluctantly back away, taking up spots near the doors they just entered.

 

Luna nods her head at all of you as she guides herself and her sister towards the head of the table. "Greetings everypony, I cannot express how overjoyed I am to know that you are all here at this time. I was begining to worry that no one would come to our aid." They take their seats, with Celestia sitting nearby Luna on the off-chance she passed out or something else happened.

 

"Yes, it warms my heart to see all of you here. While my sister was worried about whether anyone would come, I knew that there were ponies who would do everything in their power to help us and all of Equestria." Celestia said, turning and giving her sister a small smirk. "I suppose she's still used to some of the divisiveness that the Equestria of a thousand years ago had."

 

Luna glanced down at the floor and simply said "I was merely worried if any would think themselves capable of aiding us. Many ponies view both of us as gods, and the thought of us needing help scares some of them." She shook her head, remembering that you are all present. "But this is neither here nor there. I would first like each of you to introduce yourselves, and tell us what you know of the situation."

 

GM: In this case, I'm going to ask each of you to roll a d20 on this site here and to send me a message telling me what you got. Anyone who gets a 15 or higher will recieve some additional information that their character will know about. Otherwise, you simply know that Princess Celestia is ill. Anyone who gets above a ten will have also heard that Celestia hasn't been raising the sun (which means your character can either assume Luna's been doing that, or that the sun has been doing so naturally)

Cain snaps to attention as soon as the princesses enter the room, sitting upright and listening intently as the two goddesses speak. He shies away from speaking first, and glances at the other seated ponies as if to give them their cue.

"I know that the disease is not natural and the Elements of Harmony can't cure it." Flare blurted out. "But they were only rumors, like the one about you rising and setting the sun in Celestia's place."

"I heard that Celestia was ill and losing her magical powers, but I'm afraid I've been busy with some professional concerns recently, so that is the limit of my knowledge of the matter. It is quite intriguing though."
