Usually you are best off with your first car getting the cheapest mechanically sound one you can - that way you won't worry so much if you get a few dents and scrapes on it, and can trade it in pretty much for what you paid for it when you get your second car. Many car lots will sell off "trade in" cars for not much more than they gave discount on them, as they don't want them on the lot with their shiny new ones

I'll keep that in mind, though this one we found through a friend of my mom's, so hopefully considering a family-friend connection the car with be in decent shape
