Various reasons,

Mostly not brushing/combing my mane,constantly rolling in mud puddles for my pleasure,not taking baths (because i'm homeless) lack of discipline,education,and hygiene.

It's actually not way too messy at all I have medium length hair.I try to comb my hair as many times as I can and cut my hair IRL unlike my OC/Ponysona.
