movies/tv Nickelodeon version of Adult Swim?

What if Viacom scrapped Nick at Nite to make their own version of Adult Swim? Could it be successful? I mean, Adult Swim is pretty successful, so I don't see why Viacom doesn't try to make their own version.

It could work but what would they show?

I think Nick would get called out for copying and it might make parents upset. They've had some wacky shows, but I feel that Cartoon Network is better known for having shows that cover darker topics/themes so to then make a segment of entertainment strictly for adults doesn't come off as too surprising whereas Nick has played classics with real life lessons. It's such a sharp turn.

I recall whoever is in charge over at Cartoon Network putting almost all of their effort into Adult Swim rather than the kids shows which has resulted in a decline in quality content for them. Nick has had their own issues in this as well, and it could go wrong if they focus on a new project rather than fix the existing ones, or at least before doing so.

I'm not sure if an "Adult Swim" on Nick would be very successful, mostly just because many people would simply see it as being a copy-cat of Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim". I also don't think Nick as of right now has the resources to make an Adult Swim anyway, this is evident because 99% of anything that airs on Nick is just Spongebob re-runs. They would have to create entirely new shows from scratch, which seems like as of late, anything new they do create ends up being a flop or being pushed under the rug in favor of, more Spongebob :scoots: I suppose an adult version of Spongebob could be a great start for a nick version of Adult Swim, but they actually already tried to make an adult Spongebob, CN had asked Nick if they could create a special series of Spongebob to air on their Adult Swim, but the creator of Spongebob, Stephen Hillenburg wouldn't let it happen because he didn't want to see his creation "defiled", and considering that he still has ties to the show, I doubt that he would let Nick create an adult version to kick-start their own Adult Swim.

In short, I don't see Nick making an Adult Swim anytime soon mostly because it's just not a realistic goal for them.

Last time they tried to make original programming for Nick At Nite we ended up with Glen Martin DDS. I'd hate to see what they'd come up with for an entire block. They're better off sticking to doing what they've been doing with N@N and just show old syndicated sitcoms, maybe try to get a few animated ones though like King of the Hill or The Simpsons

Actually, since then, they've also had Hollywood Heights, See Dad Run, and Instant Mom. Wendell & Vinnie was also going to be on Nick@Nite, but got moved to regular Nick a little over a week before it premiered (though the last few episodes did premiere on Nick@Nite). Don't think they're interested in making more though, at least for now.

idk, Nick has always been kinda more kid focused. The shows they showed at night were mostly terrible sitcoms mixed in with 80s and 90s sitcoms. Never saw a rating on Nickolodean go past PG or TV-G. Rockos Modern Life was a stretch...like a huge stretch...along with Ren and Stimpy. However they cant get away with suggestive themes anymore unless its a super hidden dirty joke reference for the parents watching.

And, as mentioned before, if they suddenly ditched the old school shows format for adult oriented cartoons, original or not, people would say they are copying Cartoon Network's Adult Swim...me included. Im ok with the Nick that shows old school 90s cartoons.
