I had a BK Whopper, but I jazzed it up a bit by adding bacon, avocado and some French fried onions; just improvising with whatever I had around the kitchen. It turned out good, with a side of my mom’s immortal potato salad.

This is not a dish, but a full party/event arround a dish. It's not exactly the last meal I had today, but what will be eating this weekend and I though maybe here it's a fun place to show you what.

This Party/event is called "Calçotada" in our language, Catalan (it can sound as if Spanish, French and Italian had a baby).

"Calçot" is a sweet onion grow in a very special way. You cut the top of the onion and plant in the ground so the sweet onions can grow out of it. But when the sweet onions grow you put some earth so they grow slim and tall. (That is called "Calzar").

And when the sweet onions are ready, we roast the sweet onions and eat them with a sauce and sometimes wear a Bib.

¡It's a Sweet Onion Barbecue Party!

Cuántos calçots se puede comer una persona en un día? Los consejos para sobrevivir a una

Then you eat the sweet onion by peeling the burned skin, dip in the sauce and enjoy. I can eat like25-35 myself. There's a lot of sweet onions.

After that, some people enjoy a full barbecue.

My favourite is "Egg Sausage" with beans. The Egg Sausage is typical for Autumn, and it's made with pork and eggs.

Butifarra de Huevo

Thank you for reading about one of the best food traditions I love about my land.

And I wish one day you all can come here, eat and have fun. :(

Sausage egg & chips again, with some fried courgette (I've discovered this is more likely known as Zucchini in US), red pepper and tomato, ketcup, tea. (no pix)

Oh boy... It looks delicious. I'm going to try to make this soup. But with Spanish ham instead of bacon. And mexican beer or chinese beer.Corona, Desperados or Tsingtao.

Thanks for the recipe!!!!
