Working on a romance story,

I got an idea for the story, plus a small beginning, but I pretty much don't know anything about romance, so I need some help and ideas. Here's the plot/description, A killer that never felt any love, has found it in an unlikely place. That's pretty much for the description, and it's the story of how two of my ocs met. I'll appreciate any ideas that are given.

Here's a random idea the killer is hired to kill someone but instead falls love with the one he's supposed to kill 

And that starts an internal struggle on his head which the story focuses on

nah, that idea's kinda overused. Try a different approach. Totally not pulling from an old story i lost interest in writing right now lolz Killer has been staking out this person for a while, hatching a plan. He kidnaps their soon-to-be love interest, but the kidnapping turns out to have saved them from a deadly fire. Now love interest, imma call them LI, has conflicted feelings. LI isn't sure if Killer saved them or kidnapped them. Killer decides to keep LI alive cause LI has become rather entertaining for them. Filler happens, and they get close and fall in love. The end

I don't think it would work that way, plus it doesn't matter if the beginnings are similar, it matters for the ending.
