Unity 332 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 I was really thinking on when going to Equestria will happen. And i thought, oh no. Because it is almost 100% certain that they do not have human measurements. Imagine, you finally go to Equestria, and its the big reveal, you ask how old Twilight Sparkle is, and she says something like "56 moons" What would you do, i just realised, if you had a certain amount of time to prepare before you went to Equestria you may want to try your hardest to study and memorize units of measurement, Imagine going there and they have entirely different systems, imagine that, being stuck and not being able to convert gallons to floppity flinks( or whatever their liquid measurement is). Oh wait, i finished writing this and just remembered magic has no bounds, i could get a spell. well RIP my theory, anyways, thoughts?
Iam 526 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 I wouldn't get surprised if they would even speak completely different that us - I mean, with completely different language. I hope they would talk with "our' language thought. My thoughts are without emotions, if it comes to other measurement system - each civilization has it own systems and Equestria is one of those civilizations, I suppose. However, when it would come to Starlight of course, it's a completely different story.
Mellow Mane 5,931 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 I don't think there's any need to worry if you would go to Equestria. Just give it some time and you'll eventually get used to their system of measurements.
Maslovitz 122 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 Does one moon not equal one month? that's what I always thought
A French Derpy full of Salt 404 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 Quite simple, you get a sample of a measurement (like a cup that is exactly one liter, a ruler that is exactly one meter ...) and compare to their systems. Write down the differences and voilà! For the moons and time? The days. you say a year is 365 days and they'll say how much is a moon.
Lord Valtasar 12,708 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 how would they even count moons, they seem to have full moon every night,in the end, it doesn't really matter, living there will make us learn their measurement system, even if they talk a different tongue, fluttershy would understand us since she understands all animal langueges and though we tend to forget it, humans are animals too, so maybe she could teach us equestrian My Shop My Gallery Ask Zecora

Some people dont know what a cup or a litre is. So it was more of his can you convert if you dont knoebin the first place.
BornAgainBrony 2,398 August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 There have been enough actual tales of things like this happening, in a kind of "Dances With Wolves" or "Avatar" sort of way where people were displaced from their home/culture either accidentally or intentionally and assimilated afterwards. Learning the language, the customs, etc. Ponies being as understanding as they are, I can't see this being a problem, and the learning experience would also bring with it some rather hilarious moments. EpicEnergy 23,246 September 23, 2020 Share September 23, 2020 I would try my best to learn their system of measurement. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
Splashee 28,599 September 23, 2020 Share September 23, 2020 There is an official guidebook about Equestria, and if you are Brony you can quote everything from it. Sadly I think the book is locked up in Lauren Faust's house. No easy way to know what a moon is, but you can always ask a nice Pony, it isn't that hard
