Just like Ruby, Somnus charged at the bear thing. When it tried to swipe a claw at him, he moved out of the way and plunged the spear into its back. While this didn't exactly kill it, this would give Ruby a chance to get in a good hit and also distract it from Calti.

"I'm going to move the animals out of the way."

Somnus flew over, got Fluffball, Philip, and Calti, and moved them out of the ursa's reach. After that, he went back into the fight.

"Most animals like to go for the throat, right? Could that be the kill shot?"

During Somnus's distraction, Ruby had gotten behind the Ursa and was now on top of it "Yes.." Ruby was almost thrown off "...And that's our throat too is armored." she then reached toward's the ursa's throat with her claws from around its neck.

"Alright we will both attack the throat at once. It won't be able to focus on us both."

Somnus stabbed the Ursa with his spear.

Ruby just continued with what she was already doing, going for the throat with her claws. She was in good situation because she was on the ursa, and the creature lacked any way of getting her off besides trying to shake her off, and that caused only more damage.

The Ursa let out another roar and fell over. With the spear going through one part of the neck and Ruby's claws going into another, this would be enough to put the Ursa down.

"You'd think these things would learn to protect their neck properly. It's a very weak spot for most creatures. Anyway, I guess we have some proper shelter for the night."

Ruby stated as she pushed the carcass out of the cave "Since it's a tactic predators use and they don't have predators " "One of the reasons why we rule our homelands, we are only ones capable of withstanding attacks from our own kind."

"Usually when I go somewhere with a pony and I end up fighting something, they talk about how they expected a more complicated strategy. What they fail to realize is that if there is a more simple way to take something down, there is really no reason to complicate things."

Somnus put some branches in a pile and used two sticks to make a small fire since it would be a dumb idea to try and go pick up the fire that is outside. Even with Ruby, he didn't want to risk it being dropped and the nearby trees being burned down, which could put Somnus at risk.

Somnus decided to lay down somewhere. Fluffball walked over to Somnus and went to sleep.

"I was almost expecting you to keep part of it as a trophy."

"It wasn't my kill" Ruby stated "I only take trophies from those I feel like I did the most work with." "And this one wasn't one of those, since you played quite noticeable part." Calti had climbed on Ruby and had laid down between her wings again.

"it's not the same thing." Ruby stated "It's a question of pride, I only take trophies if I personally feel pride about the kill, and if someone else plays a big part in the kill, I don't feel pride."

"Meat." Ruby simply replied "Dogs are carnivores like cats and my kind." she laid her head against the ground, there was something so comfortable about laying in a cave "If you ever need to wonder what something eats, just look at the teeth, it tells exactly what they need."

Ruby didn't say anything an just closed her eyes, she wasn't really tired, but thankfully that didn't effect on her ability to fall asleep.
When Somnus was to wake up, he would find that Ruby wasn't in the cave, nor was Calti, but the saddlebags were still there.

"Guess I better go see what they are up to."

He walked outside the cave.

The response was incoherent mumbling from behind him, and if he was to turn, he would see Ruby carrying a dead deer in her mouth and Calti standing on her head holding a rat of a same size as her. Ruby dropped the deer "You ponies really sleep a long time, I got bored waiting so we went for a hunt."

Somnus gave Fluffball some peanuts and then ran off, returned with a bird, and gave the bird to Philip so he could eat.

"When everyone is done, we are going to follow the river again."

Ruby transformed to her pony form and took her saddlebags, then following Somnus outside. Again she didn't say anything, because there wasn't anything to respond to and she didn't have any topics for conversation.

"How do you think Calti will react on the boat? Considering how she's a kitten and Arrow found her in Canterlot, I don't think she knows too much about the ocean. Fluffball will be okay since he's been on the water before. As for Philip, I have no idea."
