FlareGun45 2,221 January 29, 2019 Share January 29, 2019 Ok, yes, Spikeabuse and the crush on Rarity does seem to be coming back a bit. After it was gone or very little amount in seasons 6 and 7, comes back later in season 8, then Best Gift Ever, and then one of the shorts with Rarity. However, I don't think there's anything to worry about it! In fact, this looks promising! Before you freak out, lemme tell you why! Why are the writers making Spike the target of unfortunate events again when they know most of the fandom don't like it? Simple answer: they just wanna make us mad cause it's their show! >:3 Nah I'm kidding, they're most likely doing it cause Spike's getting much needed justice next season! Same with the crush on Rarity! It wasn't AS bad in seasons 6 and 7, but then it started clouding Spike's judgement again. Next season, that crush is gonna say "adios"! Butt-monkey Spike? Next season it's gonna go "tally-ho"! They're only bringing it back to remind us about them, and then use it for Spike's story arc next season! He's gonna outgrow all of that! Maybe with a little help though! C'mon I don't think the writers are THAT clueless! It's a little kid's show, and they bring all the bad luck and misfortunes to outsider orphan? This ain't Family Guy! Unlike that show, MLP has morals and meant to be taken into consideration! Next season #SpikeJustice!
The Nth Doctor 664 January 29, 2019 Share January 29, 2019 It's a kids show, for little girls, and boys are boring, evil, and obstacles for the cute girl characters and should be made out to be evil, idiotic, or serve as a support to the female leads Spike is at his best when he's there for other characters (Lesson Zero, The Crystalling, Gauntlet of Fire) and every time he's the focus, the writing drops the ball hard (Power Ponies, Spike at Your Service, Princess Spike, etc) "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." YouTube | FiMFic
Misty Shadow 8,182 January 29, 2019 Share January 29, 2019 Spike Justice Warriors? "Spikeabuse" never left or returned, it's always been around. Most of the time, Spike gets "abused" because he does legitimately dumb things to get himself in trouble or volunteers to bite off more than he can chew, just like all the other characters in the show. It's always been that way, and we just see less of it now since it's a joke that's kind of been beaten into the ground. He's been getting to shine more often since The Crystal Empire, so I'm sure there's something planned for him in Season 9.
Brainstorm 4,123 January 31, 2019 Share January 31, 2019 Spike isn't abused in any way, like we've seen in the show and many shorts, Spike's apart of the family. Spike has proven himself worthy time and time again, saved the Crystal Empire twice, Friendship Ambassador to DragonLands, Won the Gauntlet of Fire, helped Thorax, defeated Garble three times. He kinda is. Yeah he did alot good too, I'm not denying that! But really, he hasn't been pushed to his full potential for multiple reasons. 1. Twilight is focusing more on her own destiny and hasn't thinking about Spike's destiny, and all he's been doing is helping her. If she's supposed to be his mother figure, she'd help him find his own purpose, and not use him as bait for a giant monster or let a girl he's crushing on take advantage of him unintentionally. I know you disagree with that, and I don't blame ya, cause I'm sure that hasn't happened to you. It's happened to me, that's how I know! I can tell by first-hand experience when someone is taking advantage of someone. 2. Spike's afraid of his own destiny and just feels safe around Twilight which is why he's been sticking to being her assistant this entire time, and since his egg's been abandoned by his real parents, he has abandonment issues and lacks self-esteem. You can tell by some of the previous episodes like Princess Spike, when he's in charge of something he messes up, and because of that, he's afraid! That's why he's better at helping others than he is to helping himself. He really needs help with his self-confidence! It's not feeling more of a dragon he needs to aim to, it's his self-esteem. If only there were a character on the show that would dedicate their time to helping Spike out with his real problems. We got Twilight teaching him how to be a kind and helpful dragon, we got Smolder and Ember showing him what it means to be a dragon, now all he needs is self-esteem help. Spike's egg wasn't abandon, we don't know anything his past. Twilight did say, "Spike, you're as much as part of my family as anypony," and she's proven that Spike is helpful and important to the team. CastletonSnob 3,089 February 1, 2019 Share February 1, 2019 (edited) I'm getting sick of Spike fans whining, "Waaah, why is everypony so mean to Spike?" every time he's even mildly inconvenienced. Edited February 1, 2019 by VG_Addict

Oh that was YOU that said that on Derpibooru? Anyway this isn't whining, this is optimism! Potential for a great story, and justice!
