What do you think is the COOLEST thing about your home state? (USA)

As a native Ohioan, one thing that I've always appreciated about Ohio is Cincinnati-style chili, such as Skyline Chili. The signature dishes it's used to make are 3-ways and cheese coneys, but it can also be used to make things like burritos, chili cheese fries, and layered nacho dip. Whenever those of us that live outside of the Cincinnati area visit, we always try to go to a Skyline Chili restaurant, and we make sure to stock up on cans of chili before we leave.

Do you actually even like Ohio? :nom:

It's not much different than anywhere else I've ever been. No place that I have ever lived or visited have I ever felt over controlled or felt like I couldn't do anything due to laws or ridiculous tax amounts or anything. As far as daily life and everything that it entails, I don't think there's any one state that's better than another, I think anybody that sees a drastic difference between states as far as "livability" is only saying that because they prefer the geographic location or topography of that state and it has nothing to do with local or state government and how constrictive it is. I mean, I grew up in Illinois, "the most corrupt and restrictive state" there is and I never felt like it honestly made a difference. It's not like I felt like I was living in a third world country or anything. Anybody that complains about any of the 50 states in the land of the free needs to realize just how good they have it to live in the best country on the planet.

But that's just my opinion.

The coolest thing about California is I won't have to live here anymore. I've been planning to move to Arizona for a long time, and thankfully, it'll only take a few months. Fuck this state. There are no redeeming qualities left here; not even the entertainment industry.

                                               No questions asked.

I love California. There Have been a few threads here already that encapsulate it quite nicely, from the diverse natural beauty to the manmade synthetic happiness that abounds here, so it's hard to add to the list. So I'm just going to say that California smells good. I know, everyone associates it with smog, but what I'm referring to is something only Californians would likely recognize; a subtle aroma consisting of hot asphalt, flowers and chlorine. It's hard to describe but it's something I really love. I wish I could duplicate it and take it wherever I go.

I know, I'm weird (but hey, I'm from Cali, that goes with the territory!) :mlp_proud:

That's really just Southern California and parts of the Central Valley. The air here in the Bay Area is fine. A lot of it has to do with how both regions developed; San Francisco rejected most of the highway projects while Los Angeles was absolutely gutted with a web of highways which now contribute to its extreme congestion. Urban highway construction is a rather dark chapter of American history, as many neighborhoods and historical districts were demolished due to it under the excuse of "urban renewal". Thankfully, LA has realized that car dependency is going to be totally unsustainable for the future of the city (where hundreds of millions of hours are literally spent stuck in traffic yearly) and have made strides to improve its Metro.

I lived in AZ for ten years!

I moved back MI and I would say the great lakes and the land!   We also have a lot of history too!

The scenery is the best thing about West Virginia. I mean, if you're a tourist and you are looking for nature sights; we have plenty of beautiful locations to see!
