Minecraft has made history today by replacing Tetris as the holder for best selling video game of all time. This was announced by Mojang 2 days after the game celebrated it's 10th anniversary.

Your thoughts on this news? To me, it's amazing to see this game start off as a Java-applet to a pop culture legend. One would know it's even impossible now to not imagine video gaming without Minecraft.

This game deserves it. While I know many might hate it because of it being an icon of pop culture now and it is on Youtube everywhere, Minecraft is a game of near endless potential. It is a game that is an achievement of creativity, allowing players to do what they will with it. Yeah, there are countless Youtubers and such that exploit the hell out of the game which also bothers me, but the game can be whatever you please. It is one of the only games that is a literal sandbox game.

So I am happy that Minecraft has finally taken the throne.

I figured it was only a matter of time with the number of platforms (PC/Mac, Consoles from PS3/360/Wii U to the current generation, handhelds like the Vita & 3DS, and various mobile platforms) the game runs on and the spread of use through sites like YouTube and Twitch. It's a legit great game so I'm pleased to see this myself; even if I haven't played it in years.
