Charles neared the ending of his shower as he rinsed off the soap and his shampoo. He turned off the water, and grabbed a towel as he dried off. It's always hard to dry off when you're hairy. And Charlie was hairy.

After he dried off, he continued walking and grabbed a toothbrush, applied paste, brushed his teeth, and rinsed out his mouth. He then dressed in his old clothes as he waited in line to be let out.

When Emma noticed that someone was following her, she looked back to see that it was the one of the new guys, "Oh, the new kid, looking the rec room? It's this way," Pointing the way forward, then Nurse Flo announced that it's bath time for the boys and outside time for the girls, "Great, just when I wanted to,"

 

As she went outside, she saw a tree and and sat under it, then Michelle came up to her angry, "You think you're better than us now bitch?" ​Then Emma received a hit across her face, Then she responded "What was that for? Just sitting alone...I understand now...they were right.... your really a backstABBING BITCH!!" She punched Michelle hard on her stomach, a fight ensued between the two girls.

"STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!" Katie couldn't take it more. She hated it when the patients fought. But she couldn't help it. She gave Emma a quick kick to the knee, hard. "STOP FIGHTING!"

Michelle didn't even flinch as Emma punched her stomach. She just smiled,"a backstabbing bitch? You abandoned us, your friends." Michelle was shocked to see Katie kick Emma in the shin, she had some fight in her after all. Emma collapsed to the ground. Michelle hooked her finger into Emma's mouth and pulled her off the ground by the skin of her mouth. Emma could feel her cheek tearing. Before Emma had a chance to respond Michelle unhooked her finger and Emma fell to the ground, the taste of blood flooding her mouth. Michelle huffed and took Katie by the hand, "let's get out of here hun." The girls left the area.

 

Nurse Flo smiled and put down her walkie-talkie. She had watched Samuel's 'escape attempt' on the security monitors. Nurse Flo left and went to the outside play area. She told all the girls but Michelle to go to the bath area, as the boys were told to finish up and head outside. She ignored Emma's injuries, she was in a rush.

 

Aaron washed himself, trying to stay away from the other guys. They terrified him and he was sure they were out to get him, as usual. Aaron bounced and spun around, to make sure no one was in his blind spot. Aaron got dressed quickly, he was excited to go out and see Wilson. They boys headed to the outside area, as they passed the girls they were surprised to see Michelle not there. Samuel was still missing as well. As usual a single soft ball was tossed out for the boys to play with. Aaron ran over and hugged the ball. His smile soon turned to the frown upon further inspection. "You're not Wilson."

As the guys were let out, Charles went to his room instead of the outside area. He quickly dressed in a new, clean set of clothes; a yellow shirt and a cotton jacket as well as some blue jeans. He walked to the doorway when he rembered his other shirt from yesterday, the one Aaron threw up all over. He shrugged it off, not knowing how he'd get it back.

 

He ran through the halls to the double-doors that led outside.

Randal slowly began to exit the bathingroom to go outside with the others. In his mind, he was judging the other males around him, disliking all of them.

*What if they tried to attack me, like that other boy? What if they're out to get me*

Shaking his head to get rid of these thoughts, he walked faster. Once they were outside, Randal kept to himself and wandered, his mind doing the same.

Charles spotted Randal and walked over to him. "Hey," he said, "how's it going for you so far?"

Randal slowly looked up to face Charlie and slightly frowned. Why wouldn't this guy go away?

"Going as well as you would think."

"I guess that would be horrible," Charles said, "Now, you're probably annoyed by me and all because I keep checking in on you, but that's because Nurse Flo told me to, and an order is an order. It's not like she forced me to and this place is a prison. I came here on my own will." he saw Randal, still frowning, and continued, "Now I'm not good at making friends. That's probably because of abandonment in my earlier life, which leads to my disorder. But speaking of disorders, I never caught yours; what is it?"

Randal lowered his vision and shook his head softly. He quietly said,

 

"I understand it's not your fault. But I can't help acting this way. I don't like it here, and I don't want to be here. I don't like the people here either. They scare me. And I don't like to be scared." Shaking his head again he said,

"I have schizophrenia"

Shower time had been very brief for Sylvester, as he barely cleaned himself during the shower. After showering and brushing his teeth, he went into his room to go change into his clothes, but this time he decided a change would be nice. He put on a WHITE hoodie as opposed to his usual black ones this time and went outside into the fresh air. He still was distraught with how he aligned himself up with Gale, and didn't understand how he managed to get a friend out of this.

 

All he knew was that Misha was gonna be a problem, and that he needed to keep a close eye on him. Meanwhile, Vester continued to reflect on his choices towards Michelle. He knew there was a gigantic problem with her, and he knew that any wrong move could get him killed, so how would he counter any of her responses? He started to pull his hair in frustration, feeling clueless for once in his life.

Randy dried himself off. He tried to forget what was happening, where he was. Instead, he kept reminding himself. "30240 divided by 4 equals 7560" he mumbled under his breath. It helped distract him. He slipped his pants back on and looked around for any others. "Can't let guard down. Don't trust them yet."

 

He walked out and watched Randal and Charles. He didn't say anything, he just watched them.

After all that beating, Emma was lying on the ground face-down, it was hard for her to stand up after Katie kicked her left shin. Nurse Flo came out then announced that it's bath time, but she told Michelle to stay, once Emma got back up, she fell again, then she spat some a bit of blood out of her mouth, "Michelle........you fucking bitch....I'll fucking kill....you." She grunted, "I never.....trusted you...in the first place, I...never considered you a real.....friend." She started crying for the first time since she was discovered in the alleyways around the city, "Why....why me....why does it have to be me?" another nurse arrived to help Emma stand up "It's okay dear, take it easy, let's go to the infirmary." She said, Then Emma pushed her away and said "I'm fine...I'll take some rest first before taking a...shower." She was barely able to stand up and walk inside.

"Hmm," Charlie said looking down, "I guess you have it harder. Schizophrenia's tough."

He looked back up at Randal, "We're not all bad," Charles said, "That guy who smashed the oatmeal all over another guy? Well, that's just his disorder; he's like a kid. His name's Aaron. And the guy that got burning oatmeal all over? That's John Gale; he has multiple personalities; some may be calm, others dangerous, just be on the look out. If you see him stare off into space and suddenly look up, that's probably him changing into another personality. Another guy," Charles continued, pointing at Sylvester, "he's probably the most controlled and normal guy here, his name's Sylvester."

Charlie pointed out a few more people until he finished and grew silent again, looking down.

Randal listened to every word that Charlie had to say intently so he could know who to avoid. Once he was done and they both went into silence Randal said,

"So... how long have they thrown you in here for?"

"Me?" Charles said, looking back at Randal, "I brought myself here. I've been here for about eleven months."

Randal's eyes were now shut tight, and he began to tremble.

*They're going to keep me here... that... long..*

Charles saw Randal panicking again, and said, "Hey, hey, it's for everyone's own good! The time varies, you know? Like, it depends on the disorder, how severe it is, how strong the medication is, things like that. It's almost completely random."

Randal continued to shake and said through a rasped voice,

"They're treating us... like... caged animals..."

Charles saw Randal panic even more. "Hey, come on," he said with a firm voice, "they're not. Mental hospitals aren't like what you see in the movies. It doesn't matter how you get here, if someone forces you or you bring yourself, the staff decide how long."

Charles looked around and back at Randal, his words not being successful, "Some of these people have killed because of their disorders. Thats tough shit. But trust me; no one is after you unless you spit in people's faces and pretend you're superior to everyone else," Charlie continued, "we're here because we need help. It's the nurses' jobs to give us that help. These medications and group therapy lessons stimulate our disorders, making progress each day until eventually, you're released. This isn't the first time I've been in a hospital like this. I should know."

Randy stepped over towards Charles and Randal. "Not true," he interrupted, "Shouldn't have to be this way. Isn't done right. People hurt, not helped. They keep us here, away from others. Quarantine."

When Emma felt well enough to take a shower, she did so, she washed her hair and her body quickly, but her cheeks still hurt pretty bad. When she saw Katie, she glared at her, "Bitch, kicking me in my weakest spot, you'll regret it," She finished her bath, got dressed, and then proceeded to brush her teeth.

John walked around the perimeter of the outside area, hands in pockets and staring at the ground. His steps swayed slightly as his medication was still in effect. He felt good.... his mind was quieter than it had ever been since the accident. But something felt... strange... like there was something at the back of his mind that was building up, but perhaps that was nothing. He noticed Vester looking distraught, and approached him, "Hey, you alright?" he asked.

Zach went into a shower after undressing, cleaning himself rather quickly. He got out and put on new darker clothes and brushed his teeth for a minute or two. He went outside and sat in a corner thinking about how the new patients saw him now. Their first day and come guy is already flingin shit. He didn't usually like being thought of that way, but he didn't mind too much. As long as nobody pisses him off any more. Then he saw that Nurse Flo had told Michelle to stay outside.

"Quarantine." Randy repeated, "Separating from general population. Left to rot here. Life sentence. Will always belong here. Always be crazy. Life sentence. No due process." He took in a deep breath. "The way they believe it has to be."
