I don't see anything wrong with liking other MLP generations besides g4. Those negative fans are annoying :/

Yeah they are :/ I recall last year when a few people here were trying to PM me essays and giant rants because they couldn't get over the fact that I liked G5.

All generations of MLP are awesome in their own special ways. There is something for everyone which is wonderful.

100% AGREED!

The older pones are just so beautiful, I like G4's artstyle, but can't at all see them as ponies for some reason, and G5..I'm not a big fan of the artstyle and I've never seen the show, so I have no opinions

From what I have seen of comic scans of G5 on Youtube however, it has continuity issues, on top of that, Discord's fate was incredibly grim, his immortality leaving him eternally separated from Fluttershy since her passing, left him depressed and isolated. He made mistakes, but he doesn't deserve this, and to make matters worse, there will likely never be an arc where he relinquishes his immortality to reunite with Fluttershy in the afterlife. On the one hoof, Hasbro isn't okay with depicting death most of the time in their franchise, but on the other hoof they're okay with eternal suffering, which is much worse? nothing against people who like G5, but I can already tell that I won't like it, they already made a mess of his redemption arc in G4, and now they do this to him, unacceptable, in my opinion.

Pray tell, what's your opinion on G1 MLP?

Fair, it's not much, and the quality has not held up well :proud:

I still think in G5 it could benefit from a story where Discord ends up with Fluttershy in Nirvana, I've even written a fanfic about it once, where he puts his magic of his immortality into a crystal, and then courageously lets Fluttershy's spirit decide his fate for him, Fluttershy responds with a line with her echoing voice from her telepathy "I'm sorry Discord, but your immortality is a curse on your existence, and it's time to put an end to this." then Fluttershy telekinetically breaks the crystal with her spiritual power, she reassures Discord he will be okay and someday they will be together again. He could either then pass on off panel from old age, or alternatively he fades from the mortal realm. Nirvana could be depicted as a paradise where souls are liberated from the pain of mortal existence, yeah it may sound boring to some, but beneath that surface level assumption, it recognizes the fact that true happiness is found through meaningful connection and love, the only reason there are problems to solve at all, is because of imperfection of existence itself, but let's be honest, no one enjoys to suffer and feel like their lives are going nowhere, not really.

Speaking of Fanfics, I'm trying to rewrite G1 into a modern universe, no phones or anything but like, with advanced magic and stuff

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that specific G5 storyline Dawn, however my original comment was meant to emphasize that MLP has appeal to different fans throughout all the gens which is one of its major strengths.

I understand that you have your concerns, but the same things can be said for G4 or any other gens. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and it's why different fans can enjoy different generations.

It's perfectly fine if G5 is not for you, it's why having multiple generations is great for all fans. I hope that we can agree that is one of the reasons why MLP and its fandom are so special.

I think there's a lot of room for interpretation and preferences within the entire fandom, but I'd rather not delver deeper into any specific storyline debates. I just want to watch cute ponies. I hope you have a great day.

Now getting back onto the thread's original topic: I'm feeling better as I finished some paperwork earlier.

Well, this thread is about expressing our feelings, and I was telling everyone how I thought about My Little Pony generation 5, based on what I've researched on it so far. The lack of continuity may not seem like a big deal to some people, but to me it is. They went half in half out, the episodic nature of G5 is what puts me off it the most, because it fails to recognize the journey of characters and what they have learned through their experiences, important as far as friendship is concerned. If creators are going to do continuity, then then abandoning this is what leads to plot holes and it's distracting for viewers.

I share that sentiment, it's not fair when MLP fans or anyone gets harassed for their personal hobbies, it's a violation of our boundaries, sort of like disrespecting a person who practices religion in private, really. One notable example of unnecessary arguments online about MLP is that controversy about Starlight Glimmer's redemption arc. Do I think her redemption arc could have been done better? yes, but I've seen positives in it where she extended mercy to Queen Chrysalis offering her a chance of peace by asking her to stop her aggression toward Ponies in Equestria, after receiving it herself from Mane Six, meaning she has grown, even if still flawed, she is trying and that does matter. But people get name called for showing support for this character and Mane Six acceptance into their group.

I've really got to stop talking about politics so much on my social media page, though such a habit is hard to get out of, it can negatively affect mental health. I don't do it so much here, but I realized this is bringing my mood down and perhaps everyone who sees it too. I mean, without a vote I cannot change anything so to heck with it. Anyhow, good to know there's some thoughtful people here.

Does anyone like the episode of MLP,  Princess Twilight Sparkle, where Princess Luna and Princess Celestia battle in the past were shown? honestly I don't know how I feel about that one, it's a good episode as we get to see some history of Equestria, but it is not a happy one, I suppose seeing them go at it in a cosmic beam struggle would be entertaining for some viewers, but think about it, if we were in that fantasy world I think that would be sad, having such respect for Luna, as well as Celestia, even though Luna was in the wrong for resorting to aggression, it would be tragic, to see Luna, as Nightmare Moon get imprisoned in the moon. Drwolf on Youtube summed this episode better than I did.
