"I don't answer to your authority, if you would defend someone willing to kill a filly, with no reason. Apollo deserves death, and if you care about Akli, then you'd give him the honor of death, before he tarnish his own legacy."

General Quarter's expression hardened, "I don't know where you come from, but neither Equestria nor Troy believes in honor killing. And if you want my protection, you will answer to my authority."

Their discussion was cut short by their ambush by the Equestrians.

On 2022-10-15 at 10:52 PM, Spiral Spell said:

"Get a hold of yourselves, and shape up! This isn't about the alicorn, this isn't about any of your petty quarrels. It's about the safety of everyone aboard."

(Not the best choice of words, as that's the exact reasoning that went in to General Akli agreeing to remove the alicorn from the ship: the safety of everyone aboard.)

The Equestrians did not back down in response to Spiral nor Last's words, as they did not recognize the meaning of the Night Throne and they took Spiral's words to mean that the alicorn was being removed for everyone's safety.

Still though, between the five of them they'd be able to hold off the Equestrians well enough, but the jostling and shouting was enough to stir the alicorn awake. She spoke an unknown language (As Spiral only knows written Unique, and not spoken Unique) but it was clear from her tone that she was scared and confused.

There was a flash from her horn, like a camera flash, that didn't seem to have an effect on anything, but the alicorn seemed more fearful afterward. With her magic she gripped everyone in the area, held them still for a moment, then violently shoved anyone who was not a unicorn down the length of the passage, leaving Spiral with one of the guards who had been with General Quarters and one of the Equestrian 'rescuers'. All the others, including Last and the General, were thrown.

The alicorn let go of the remaining unicorns, having discovered her own wings. She started to cry as she pulled on them, not trying to remove them, but not fully coming to grips with the fact that they were part of her. It was obvious though that she was disturbed by their presence. She cried out more in the unknown language.

Both of the remaining unicorns looked to Spiral, "Do... do you know what she's saying?"

Last and the other ponies thrown would suffer damage from being thrown, and would be a good distance away from the alicorn. They would all be in a heap.

(Merlot)

Crank looked very unsure, but ultimately nodded, "Alright, but only because you can't fly off without me. At least, you can't fly our plane without me."

When they got to the hanger they'd encounter a similar scene to what Maud and Trixie saw at Research, namely a large group of guards baring entry. Only in the case of the hanger there weren't as many citizens trying to get in. They were also recognized by one of the guards as they approached. "Sorry you two, all craft are grounded until the agent is dealt with. Can't let them escape you see. Best if you went back to your quarters and waited for instructions."

(Trixie & Maud)

Trixie's magic worked... to draw more attention to themselves. The guards visors shielded them from most of the effects of the light magic, meaning that Maud's charge did not go unnoticed. Rather she got tackled by a trio of guards, and another pair moved to capture Trixie as well, but they were stopped when Dr. Conegher stepped out. The guards calling out, "Dr. You need to stay in your quarters where it's safe."

He shook his head, "Let those two through, I called for them."

The guards begrudgingly let the two mares go, "If you say so, don't cause any trouble."

Dr. Conegher motioned for them to follow as he led the way into what were presumably his office, many of the diagrams on the wall dedicated to what looked like a mechanical deer, as well as something called Prototype VIP. "Things have gotten very complicated. You would do well not to complicate things further by antagonizing the guards."

He took a seat and turned to face them, "So, what information do you have for me? Did you find someone you think can unite everyone and replace Apollo? Because it looks like we'll need a replacement sooner rather than later."

(Briar)

As luck would have it, he would run into Wildebeast, quite literally, as he turned a corner. The older earth pony emerging unscathed from the collision. "Briar? What's got you running in such a hurry? Is everything alright with the little one?"

The ponies chasing him would soon catch up, but they would slow down when they saw Wildebeast with him, "He's going after Wildebeast!"

"Stop." Wildebeast turned towards the ponies, "Briar here isn't going after anyone you hear? He's the reason we've had such good food lately, at least in terms of vegetables. He's no danger to anyone here, and you'd do well to tell all your friends to lave him alone."

He turned back to Briar, "So, are they all that's got you running? I'd have thought with the announcement you'd be in your room with the little one."

(Blitz)

Despite her preparations, there didn't seem to be anything trying to get into the room. Had Silver given her this task just to keep her busy? And away from everything that was happening?

Blitz would also take notice that everything Silver was working on was out for her to look at, if she wanted to. Given the state of the place after Silver had torn it apart looking for the necklace, she probably wouldn't even notice if Blitz decided to look through the papers.

(Play Write)

The loyal Trojans gathered quickly, many of them had been headed towards Play's office after the announcement, so they were easy to divert to the theater as well as enlisting them to gather others. In total, a full fifth of the Project were gathered to listen to Play's speech.

"My fellow Trojans, and those who would call themselves Trojans. For too long I have sat back and let Apollo lead the Project, neglecting my post out of honor reverence for our missing Consul. As much as I wish that I could continue wait, the time is at hoof for decisive action."

"As we seem to find ourselves at war, our Consul indisposed, and our culture in imminent threat. I propose that I be elected as Consul, if it be agreeable to those gathered, and assume control of the Project."

Another pony approached the stand, "All in favor of the proposed action?"

There were several "Aye"

"All opposed?"

There were only a few "Nay"

The pony nodded, "The Ayes have it. By the power bestowed by those gathered, until such time as a full election can be held, Play Write of Deltrot is hereby accepted as the Consul of Troy and its protectorates. Answerable to all who would rightly call themselves Trojans."

Play, now Consul Write, returned to the stand. "The time is at hoof, as it was over a thousand years ago, to stand up and depose tyrants. Go, collect your shields and weapons, then return here for assignments."

He turned to the other who had joined him on the stand,

"Go get General Akli, tell him the Consul has need of him."

(Red)

Red had managed to gather a small collection of followers, a few dozen willing to do her every whim. While they would be sufficient to disable the generators keeping the Project afloat, she decided to take a moment and enjoy the attention, indulge in a few luxuries that she previously had to avoid and steal. At the moment enjoying a peaceful nap on some very comfortable pillows while guarded and fawned over by her acolytes.

Their discussion was cut short by their ambush by the Equestrians.

Last's gaze did not falter, no matter how much the general were likely used to others folding. She did not look away that easily. And especially not towards someone, that she had less and less respect for, the more he opened his mouth, and made it clear, that he did not listen to a single word that she had been saying. Or at least had refused to listen to it correctly.

She did not advocate honor killing. She had advocated that if he cared about Akli's reputation that much, he should end him, before he caused irreparable damage to said reputation. How would it work with the masses he seemed so eager to please, if Akli went from a venerated war hero, to a pariah, because he had gone so far off the deep end, that he started to hurt and kill those, he had been sworn to protect? It were better for him, and others, if he died with dignity, rather than be left to tarnish his legacy.

That were not an honor killing to her, as this were not about some supposed honor to his family, or something meager like that. It were about protecting others. If he truly had an ounce of the war hero, that others venerated that much, left in him, then it were a mercy, to end things before he lived long enough, to become just another monster.

But of course, the general here, did not have it in him, to even consider that. Just like Equestrians didn't, and never had. If they did, there would never have been a need for those like her, and Last would likely never have been born.

She outta smack some sense into him, but first off, they were busy. The timing of the civilians, cut the other part of her explanation short - which were very annoying - and then as she were about to smack them down, Nexus would erupt, for a lack of a better term, and toss her, and the other non-horned ones, down the hallway.

All the others, including Last and the General, were thrown.

Last - in her infinite luck - had ended up at the bottom of the pile, after having been grazed by the wall first Far as she could feel, she had some scratches down her legs, and one puncture near her thig, trickling a minor amount of blood, from impacting various things on the group. A scratch on her forehead, several future bruises, and some swelling inside of her armor, on the left side.

So basically, she were fine, and as such, rose up, pushing the others around her aside. She had been more hurt, and still fighting. This were nothing that she couldn't work through, and then the medical team could scream at her later again. Weren't gonna be the first time, and at least so far, she weren't covered in blood, nor about to spill something, that should definitely stay inside. Which might have happened to someone, had her sword not been in its scabbard. Lucky them, that they'd at best, get a bruise from having the hilt ram into their sides.

For added measure, Spiral would voice the words over in normal language just incase Nexus understood their language. "It is paramount that we do not upset her. She is an alicorn, and has a massive amount of magic, even as a filly. We must keep her safe, but we must also not startle her." she said, gesturing down the hall towards where the remaining ponies had ended up.

Last had not seen the first part, as she were tossed out, where Nexus had clutched at her wings, but she heard Spiral's words. And with the context of what had happened before, she would halt, about two meters from them, and stand still, and silent. Something were happening with Spiral too, as she used her magic in some way, though to what end... Last trusted the mare somewhat, but it did make her a little tense to see, how it were used on the filly, since she did not know what this were. Hopefully just some sort of calming spell.

(Briar)

A sigh of relief escaped Briar, once Wildebeast and him got past their forceful encounter, and the former cleared up things, for the random group who had briefly been thinking he were now attacking Wildebeast.

"Earth Mother bless you, for your timely arrival, my friend. I sought to help, but had forgotten how rather unknown I am to the general populace, and how the heightened emotions, might make some react. I thought it wiser to run, than to harm those who were simply confused.

As for what I am doing... As mentioned, I wish to help. Due to my lack of sight, visual illusions, does not trick me, and as my senses are rather high too, I find that I have a better than normal chance, of finding flaws in perception. And I have found that from my previous encounters with some, alicorns have an odd smell to them. Very vague and hard to explain, but it is something I have bitten note in before, I thought that perhaps, if I found the one the messages spoke off, I could tell if there were trickery ahoof, and we could perhaps avoid too much chaos, as that will only lead to harm.

But it is not safe for Brittle here. I have her hunker down in our room, with the door blocked and locked. She should be safe, guarding the sacred seed, away from all of these issues.

What of you? What brings you to the streets, so to speak?"

If she had just tried to keep Blitz away from things, it were so far working, but there would still come a time, when things would boil over, and she'd end up in the midst of things. At least she were sure of it, so she kept making more fun stuff! Including a variation of a cannon with some goo in it, that she had seen her brother use before. The goo she made, were not as good as what he could do, but she still had good materials, and with a bit of ingenuity, it would still prove the same kind of thing: A weapon with a limited tank, able to fire off a green liquid, that would begin to turn to tough gel, once it connected with air and body heat.

Molotov had used something like this for both shutting off fire - as the goo were effective at that, and would biodegrade after a few hours - and to trap annoyances, as it were hard to move around in a block of jello. It did degrade with spit though, so that were good. No chance of it making someone gag on it, if they got shot in the face. That'd be nasty.

As she were making the third of those, and stacking it on a nearby table, she'd bite note in the paperwork, and go over to look at that. She could read and use her horn at the same time. Not so much when she were younger, and first got on board, but time had made her better able to focus, for the better of her. And for the worse of those, who wanted to limit her impact.

Anyway, nothing going on here, beyond her making some fun things, and not setting fire to everything, so... Might as well go and see what sorta stuff that Silver were working on. Maybe it were some sorta prototype, and she could inform Silver of a way to make it work? Then she'd definitely let Blitz partake in aaaaaaaall sorts of things here, and she could really be allowed to flourish, instead of doing manor projects, and making explosive charges for the fighters.

She did have one thing she wanted to try there too, currently wrapped around her leg. She hadn't had access to all the things she needed to get it done normally, but now? Now she were free, so she could make use of this. And it were a fun one. It would charge up on kinetic energy, as she moved around, and then if she pointed it towards something, and clutched her muscles right, she could fire off a blast wave, that would either push folks away a fair bit, if they got hit by the hoof-sized, long range *projectile*, or be stunned. She weren't entirely sure. She had used it once in here, at half charge, and it had slammed a desk into a wall. So it did do something at least.

She weren't too good at the combat stuff though, but it were an interesting prototype, that maybe she'd find someone that could use right, sooner or later. The straps on her leg were adjustable, so it were possible. Though done right, or it might set your leg on fire. It could also use some refinement, to make for better energy conversion, and custom made sleeving, more or less, but it were a fine start.

How she had time to make this, when she also did traps, explosives, and those guns? Pff, as if she could just do one thing at a time. Especially when she knew ho to make something. Really easy to assemble something when she knew just how to do it. It were new stuff that took time and effort.

(Last)

Between the pummeling by Last and the other guards, and being thrown down the hall by the alicorn, the Equestrians who had attacked them were all unconscious, the pegasus clearly had a broken wing from having another pony land on it, and it looked like the earth pony might have a broken leg.

General Quarters was still conscious, but when her tried to get up it was apparent that one of his forelegs was broken, he sucked in a breath through gritted teeth, "That's not good, took us by surprise she did."

He started splinting his leg, using his combat knife as a brace, the other guard helping get it tight enough, and offering support so the General could stand, "We're close to the safe room anyway, I'll lead the rest of the way once the alicorn is ready to move, assuming she allows us to be close to her."

There was a bit of fear in their eyes now when they talked about the alicorn.

The metal floor would announce Last's presence long before she got within five meters of the alicorn, and the alicorn would put up a shield at the four meter mark to keep anyone not already near her from approaching.

(Spiral)

The alicorn calmed a bit when she heard Spiral speaking in her mind, there was a bit of silence before she responded, this time not trying to speak, "Why can't I see? Where are we? Where is my mother? Why are flappers and dirt ponies here?"

(Merlot)

The guard sighed, "I guess that makes sense, but no funny business alright? I get so much as a whiff of anything problematic, I'll  throw you off the Project myself."

That said he stood aside to let Merlot and Crank through. The hanger itself was empty of ponies, the crafts simply sitting as they had been left. Crank turned to Merlot, "So, what now?"

(Maud and Trixie)

On 2022-10-18 at 10:24 PM, Maud Pie said:

"Trixie would like to know what that is." she said, pointing her hoof towards the deer.

Dr. Conegher spared a glance at where Trixie was pointing, "Oh? That's an old project, something I did to help a little fawn back in West Cervidas. She contracted a disease that will eventually consume her whole body, so I designed a sort of full-body prosthetic that could be installed at the same rate as the disease. She didn't make it on to the Project unfortunately."

On 2022-10-18 at 10:24 PM, Maud Pie said:

"It is paramount that the fighting aboard this vessel must be minimal. I believe Equestrians hold too much reverence in their leadership to be easily swayed by the mere mention of them, but the other factions also hold too much loyalty to their ways as well. We must teach them that this way of thinking will only lead to oblivion to all of us." her eyes were stone cold.

Dr. Conegher sighed, "I'm sure you'd do well with the Equestrians, but you're unknown to the other factions, I don't think they'd take much liking to being led by someone they don't know. Still, it's far too late now to find someone else, hopefully we'll be able to stand you up in the interim, bring the factions to the table and discuss a suitable replacement. That said, we'll have to keep you safe until it's time to move you to the bridge to take command. You may as well make yourselves comfortable, it could take a bit to-"

There was a knock at the door, then a paper was passed under it. Dr. Conegher retrieved it with his magic and read it, "...Rot. It would seem another contender has stood to take your place. Play Write, the former Vice-Consul of Troy, who served as the Acting Consul since Consul Easle's disappearance, has finally decided to stand up and be Consul."

(Briar)

Wildebeast looked relieved to hear that Brittle was safe, "Well that's right noble of you, how about I escort you to the guards and see if they'll be able to make use of you in an official capacity, rather than having you go off on your own."

He'd start leading the way when asked why he was down there, "Well, I do have an official room here on the Project, even though I prefer to spend most my nights up with the trees, I was headed to my quarters like the announcement said to."

It didn't take long for them to get to the nearest guard checkpoint, the guard they approached already being familiar with Wildebeast, "You shouldn't be out here Wilde, it's not safe."

"I'm plenty able to defend myself, I've fought off worse than other ponies before."

"You were younger back then too."

"Still strong as ever. Anyway, this here is Briar, a plant pony who's been helping bolster our crops these past few months. He says he can see through disguises on account of being blind, he would be especially useful in finding the fake alicorn, or the real one, supposing there is one."

The guard looked thoughtful, "Well, we can use all the help we can get. I'll take him up to the top, see if they are willing to make use of him."

Wildebeast would bid farewell and the second guard would start leading, "So, how can you tell the difference? I'm Ensign Stripe by the way."

(Blitz)

Most of the papers that Silver had were benign, just notes on ideas and reports on inspections.

However, she soon found some older papers, hidden away in a corner, a binder marked Top Secret.

If Blitz looked inside the binder she'd find some designs, engines of war and destruction, all of them signed by Silver herself.

She'd only have a few minutes to look through it before Silver returned, running in on hoof with Plein in tow, the latter now wearing her necklace, potentially tripping whatever traps Blitz had set up.

(Play Write)

The newly minted Consul Write stood in the large gathering area that just a few days prior had been full of those tending to the wounded, now it was full of ponies donning armor they had not work in years, cleaning the dust off of shields and swords, preparing to take control by force.

He himself had put on his own armor, he had served in the Trojan military for a year just as every other Trojan citizen. It was the government's way of ensuring that every adult citizen had at least a basic knowledge of wilderness survival and combat ability, something that had come in handy during the crisis.

He was approached by General Akli, who was also now wearing his Trojan uniform, "Consul."

"General, I have reports of a red alicorn on the Project, can you elaborate."

"Yes sir, I... wait, did you say red?"

"That's what the reports say."

"Then we have two problems, the alicorn I was sent to capture was white."

Consul Write sighed, "So a real alicorn, and an imposter, likely a changeling. In fact, I think I know which changeling."

"Red"

"Indeed. She'll have to be neutralized at any cost, before she can amass enough followers to take everything down."

"It will be done."

"Try and keep it quiet, we don't want the civilians to get the wrong idea when you try and eliminate the imposter. Once she's dealt with, we can move to secure the real one."

Last looked at the general's leg, and cursed a little under her breath. This were going to be troublesome. They were in the midst of an area, in revolt, and now the one who were most likely to inspire the other civilians - or some of them at least - had a broken leg, effectively making him unable to fight, and in need of assistance. Until he were secured, she'd likely be the only one able to fight here, along with Spiral, but she too had one to protect, leaving Last as the only one with free mobility.

Although, moving around a bit, she felt a familiar, annoying feeling, that made her clench her teeth. The swelling on her side made a fair bit more sense now, as it appeared that she had been rattled around enough, to have one of her ribs bent. Likely from the unforeseen bash on the wall. Armor were all well and good, but sufficient force, and it were kinda like rattling around a rock in a soda can.

She'd fight through the pain, but it were likely to make her more ornery, as it were a consistent, annoying pain, that were definitely going to increase over the next few days. Urgh, she hated needing pain meds... Those things had a bad reputation, for becoming addictive to some, and though she trusted her own resolve, it still made her a bit paranoid about them.

Though she weren't about the alicorn. She had been scared of what were going on, seemingly, and had acted instinctively. Last saw no reason to be scared about that. More like irritated at herself, for not realizing that, and neutralizing the enemies first, before making more noise.

She were fine here, although Spiral still seemed to be doing something with the filly. She didn't know. That mental talk, weren't for her to hear, so all she could really do for now, were to watch.

"I am not certain, if noble is the correct term. Rather, I just wish for chaos to not roam freely here. There is plenty enough of that out there. We do not need it here. Think of the amount of beings that might get hurt, if it did."

Briar did not consider himself heroic, or noble, in any sort of way. He thought this just something you did, if you were able, if you were a good being. And that at least, were something he strived to be, to the best of his abilities.

"Be safe out there, my friend. May the Earth Mother watch over you."

Briar would bow towards Wildebeast, before the pony would wander off, to tend to his own business. Hopefully he'd get through these things unscathed.

With that addressed, Briar would turn towards the one he had been lead to. He'd keep his teeth mostly concealed now though, and not smile as widely. Things were not good as it were. He did not need to take such risks now, during a time of unrest.

"Well met. Though I must correct Wildebeast some. I am blind yes, but it is not the reason for me being perceptive. Training, and natural affinity does. It is an ah... How do I put this... Predatory instinct, that comes with my variety of evergrown. Be not alarmed though. I do not hunt higher sentience beings. It's disturbing to even think about for me.

Regardless, to get back on topic: I have high senses, and visual illusions are not functional on me. Thus, I can bite note in misperceptions more than a regular pony. I have also been around alicorns before, however briefly, in my travels pre-crisis, and can attest to them having an oddity about them, that I do not think a pretender would think of. A smell, specifically. It is hard to explain though. Dry and flowery, with hints of sunlight, hitting fresh morning dew on tulips, and a hint of seasoned honey. It does not encompass it all, but it is a peculiar mixture, that is hard to ignore.

That said, I am not infallible. I can try and help, to the best of my abilities, but there will always be uncertainty. True shape shifters, who are well versed in their craft, can be troubling.

Ah yes, and my name. I am Briar Trapjaw. I regret we do not meet under better circumstances."

As he talked, he'd show something, to prove his blindness, by lifting his eyelids, showing the surface beneath, looking just like the rest of his face, albeit with shorter *fur*, as it were.

(Blitz)

Blitz did not think much about the weapon plans, and just stacked them up with the rest. This were war times, yes? Silver had to prepare for that. Made sense to her.

Yet soon after, said mare would return to the lab!

- Aaand trigger a foam bomb, which would puff the mixture right at her and Plein, covering them in the substance, whilst Blitz turned her armed hoof towards them, unaware of who they were at first.

"Intruders! Protect th- Oh hey the- Woah!"

She had noticed who they were, and turned her hoof away from them, but had invertedly, also shot off a blast, towards a point to the right of the two ponies. It were only around a fifth of charge, but it still hammered against it, and gave a mighty thwong sound, and made her stagger back some, falling into a pile of other stuff. A full charge, and she might have been shot right back towards the wall.

"Hehe. I forgot the recoil.

Good you're back! I kept the place all nice and safe. Don't go near the doors! All of them are armed. A lot."

The alicorn looked increasingly confused by what Spiral was saying, "No, that can't be true! Flappers and Dirt ponies are monsters who eat foals. My mother would never allow unicorns to be dirtied by working with them. No..."

She started to cry, then her expression hardened, "No! You- You're lying! You're rebels who stole me from my mother! You tried to turn me into a flapper and blinded me to hurt my mother! I have to get back to her, she'll be able to fix this."

"And my name isn't Nexus."

The remaining unicorns were blasted away with less warning than before, and the alicorn took off running, occasionally flashing a light, which seemed to be her way of using magic to determine where the walls were.

(Last)

The General winced when he saw the unicorns get the same treatment as him, "Buck, that's even worse." He sat down to rub his forehead, "Maybe we'll get lucky and she won't be able to find her way out of the pipeworks?" He shook his head, "I can't chase her like this, and even if I could, I'm not strong enough to capture an alicorn. I'll go to the safe room, and start gathering some support with the radio, see how many ponies we can get looking for her, and how many we can trust. Good luck."

With that the General knocked on what looked like a blank set of wall, and it swung open to reveal a room stocked with beds, food, medicine, and communication equipment. "Come back here if you need something."

(Merlot)

Crank would take a seat nearby, "Well, I guess a start is how do you think this will play out? I mean, an agent pretending to be an alicorn? I haven't seen an alicorn in a long time. I didn't think I'd ever see one again. Did you ever see one before?"

(Trixie & Maud)

16 hours ago, Maud Pie said:

"Even if you didn't manage to save her, perhaps that method may be able to save others if anything like that happens in the future."

Dr. Conegher shook his head, "No, I did save her, she just didn't make it on to the Project, for unrelated reasons. And I hope the technique is not needed again, that disease... she was the only one in her village who survived, and only because I arrived as soon as I did. A few more minutes and she'd have died with the rest of them."

He shuddered at the memory.

16 hours ago, Maud Pie said:

"Wonder what Play Write would think of it. If I cannot lead alone, then I'll lead with others at my side." she added.

Dr. Conegher looked thoughtful. "That... could work. Troy was previously ruled by a council elected by the different towns and cities that made up the Empire, I think they would be amicable to forming an official council to serve under a single elected leader. But you'll have to prove that you have the Equestrians behind you. Unfortunately now isn't the time to have a public forum. Have you done anything already to garner support for you among the Equestrians?"

(Briar)

The guard listened to what Briar had to say, and was unfazed by the revelations present in the discussion, "I can't say I ever met an alicorn before, but that sounds like a useful skill to have."

That said they arrived at the guard station just as General Akli did, he raised an eyebrow at Briar, "Ensign Stripe, why are you escorting this one here?"

The guard saluted, "Sir, this is Briar Trapjaw, an Evergrown, he says he might be able to help find the alicorn, real or fake."

General Akli thought for a moment before nodding. "We need all the help we can get. Follow me, I'll fill you in on what we know. Do you need any equipment?"

Once inside General Akli's office, Briar would be filled in on what the General knew and sworn to secrecy until the situation was resolved. Namely, that there were two alicorns on the Project. One was real, a small blind alicorn filly, and one imposter, a large red alicorn mare. They suspected that the imposter was a wanted changeling named Red taking advantage of the situation.

"Given your talents, you might have better luck finding the real alicorn. She was last seen in the pipeworks but there's no guarantee that she's still there. Hopefully your tracking ability will help you find her. I can assign some guards to assist you if you'd like?"

(Blitz)

While it may be true that they were in war times now, these documents were dated long before now, back when she signed things as Silver Studs and not Silver Easle. But if Blitz didn't notice the difference then she'd probably not give them a second glance.

Silver wrapped herself around Plein to protect her from the foam as much as she could, and from any consequences of Blitz's misaimed shot. Once it was clear that no more danger was coming she let her filly go, but kept her close, "Is it safe to enter? This is the only door after all, or should we stay still for a bit until you can disarm the traps? You certainly work fast."

Last would know what the communication devices did, and would quickly swoop in, to grab one. She figured she'd need one, to at the very least update of their success, or failure, in getting hold of Nexus.

And yes, normally, tech confused her, and she figured it were simpler to smash, but this one she had been taught to use, on other outings before, and she could see the benefit in it. So she'd at least grasp this one. More than could be said about the coffee maker. That thing were evil, and it and her, did not get along.

"I'm giving chase. Non-lethal force only, on any enemies."

If this did not tell him, that she would meet with him on his stance from before, at least for the time being, she did not know what would. Though if she were not given a choice, she'd do what she had to, and handle the consequences later.

However, she would not stay and say more, but would instead rush over to where Spiral stood, or would be, in case they met one another prior, to Spiral getting to the group. If the shield were still there, she'd use her sword to cut a hole in it. It were magic, this sword were anti-magic. It seemed to her, like it should be able to leave a hole big enough for her to crash through.

On 2022-10-22 at 7:43 AM, Maud Pie said:

Spiral was blasted back before she could really do anything. She growled under her breathe. "Why is it that the alicorn we rescued just has to be a problem child..." she muttered under her breathe, and looked back to the others and sighed. "F-fall back to the others, we can't follow her on our own..." she admitted to the others, and got up slowly, before running back to where Last and Quarters were. They needed backup if they were going to successfully capture the alicorn filly.

She'd gaze at Spiral, somewhat confused and weary, muscles tensed.

"Are you coming? I don't know what happened, but we can't leave her alone out there. What do you think would happen, if she got surprised, and assaulted by one of Akli's goons? Or some confused civilian?"

In her mind, the filly might blast a hole straight through the ship, out of sheer flight or fight instinct. Or she could end up accidentally killing someone. Either thing would be bad, and would not make her state better. She could not be allowed, to just run out there alone. And if Spiral decided to be here... Then she could talk over the communication doohickey. Last were going, and that were it. If nothing else, she could at least try and keep the worst from getting too close to Nexus, regardless of the alicorn, likely ending up considering her a threat too.

He did not know exactly what had happened to the crystal empire, but he did not think, that it were anything good, and thus, he'd utter condolences. She had sounded like a nice mare, the times he had heard others speak of her, as she passed, or just whenever he randomly heard her name be brought up. His hearing were rather good, so he heard quite a few things.

Briar would bow respectfully, towards the general. Not one he had ever met personally, but he had heard of this one, from others. A respected war veteran, up in age, but pulled back into service. And from what he heard, mostly positive things had come from that too. This were one that he could surely trust, would want what was best for The Æther, and solve this troubling situation, before it escalated to a full scale rebellion.

"It is an honor to meet you sir, though I wish it were under better circumstances. And I do not require any equipment, at this point."

The situation were worse than Briar had anticipated. Two alicorns, one real, and one an impostor, seeking to take advantage of the situation... It would cause a disaster, if the followers of either, were gonna clash. This situation needed to be rectified, and he hoped dearly, that he were able to play a part, however small, in doing so. He did not want their already diminished numbers, to be lessened even more. Nor - Earth Mother forbid - have someone sabotage The Æther, and cause them to crash during all of this, making this entire place, all for naught.

"I will do my outmost to find her. And if it is possible, I would like a companion, yes. I can fight for myself if needed, but I am not well known on The Æther, and it have already shown, to make some think me the one causing chaos. It would make things simpler, were I to have one that could vouch for me. One less flammable than myself too, if it wouldn't be asking too much.

Beyond that, I require nothing else, and are ready to begin immediately. The quicker this situation is resolved, the better for us all."

Blitz noticed, but she more or less chose to intentionally ignore it. Silver were a smart, impressive mare, and these sorta things miiiiight cast that into question... So why think about it? Even if she had been a bad one once, she were good now, helping all of these survivors, by keeping The Æther going. That were the important thing to focus on. Not some thing in the past, that she didn't even know the context of.

The shot would miss them both, so they were save from that. The foam... Well, they'd need to have that washed off, but nothing that a bit of water couldn't handle.

"Safe? Oh yeah, totally. Sorta. Not at all, hehe. Hold on."

Her horn would light, in hues of orange and red, and seven clicks would be heard, around the door, and some of the walls. Nothing seemed different, but she'd still clap her hooves together, with a big grin on her face.

"There. All sorted. And of course I worked fast. You told me to keep this place safe, so I made lots of traps, prepared the smoke bombs, made some goo guns, and finished my leg cannon prototype! It works real well, but the recoil can be rough. I might need a stronger pony to try this sometime. That'd be fun.

Oh, and you left some paperwork out all over the place. I put them in a stack on your table.

So how did it look like out there? And hi Plein! It's good seeing you again."

Blitz would grin at Plein, with a big, impish smile, and wave at the young pony. Mother and daughter, gathered up nice and safely. That were good. maybe they could do some fun experiments, while they waited for things to blow over. Or they could make more stuff, to go and help others sort through this? She'd love to help. Preferably the right ones, whom she so far, didn't know who were.

(Last & Spiral)

The unicorn guard volunteered to join them, while the pegasus guard turned their attention to securing the equestrians who had attacked them.

The unicorn guard introduced himself as Incandescent Spark, he had joined the guard on the Project, as he had only been in the academy in Canterlot when the crisis happened. He was inexperienced, but willing to follow instructions. He also knew his way around the Pipeworks, which would likely prove useful. "What do you think we should do? I mean, how does one capture an alicorn?"

On 2022-10-21 at 11:43 PM, Maud Pie said:

"I wonder what other sorts of things you have invented in the past here." Trixie added.

He chuckled at that, "A shorter list would be what I didn't invent here. And most of that list would be things that Silver Easle invented. Between the two of us we invented a majority of the components that keep this Project moving, functional, and sustainable."

On 2022-10-21 at 11:43 PM, Maud Pie said:

Maud nodded. "By this point I'd say I am known for who I am. The sister of one of the Elements of Harmony. I've talked to them about my ideas of a council. Some liked it, some didn't, as usual. I am not sure what else to really say on that. I want to convince everyone that these types of conflicts will only destroy everyone and nobody will be left standing by the end. If some radical group gets control, they'll likely destabilize affairs, leading to destruction one way or the other, no matter what they think. It is that we must teach." her eyes were calm.

He looked thoughtful, "Well, you are the closest thing we have to an Element of Harmony here, supposing enough ponies recognize you for who you are then they shouldn't have an issue following your guidance at least in the interim."

He sighed, "But the question is how many would want to follow you over an alicorn? My sources say that there may actually be an alicorn on the Project now."

General Akli nodded, "Good. As you're already familiar with Ensign Stripe I'll assign him to you. He should be able to keep you safe as you work. As soon as you find something, he'll be able to let me know through the radio. If you do find the alicorn, be careful, we don't know what she's capable of. May the stars guide your way. Dismissed."

Briar would be able to meet up with Ensign Stripe outside, and he would lead the way to an entrance to the Pipeworks, "So... how should we go about this? Should we just wander for a bit while you try to catch a scent or something?"

(Last)

Last's radio would sound, "Last, I'm getting reports that General Akli has sent someone into the Pipeworks to find the alicorn, apparently one that can find them by smell, so I'm guessing a diamond dog or similar."

(Blitz)

Silver looked impressed at the work that Blitz had managed in such a short time, "Glad I didn't rush in any faster. Good work Blitz."

She looked a bit more nervous when Blitz mentioned the paperwork, and quickly went over to it, a bit more fear as she saw exactly what Blitz had been looking through, then quickly stowed it away somewhere safe, "Probably best if you didn't try and build any of the things you saw there. Well, not probably, but definitely those things should not be built."

Silver would go and get herself and Plein cleaned up from the foam, then return to Blitz, "Alright, things are getting rough out there, but not as bad as predictions. Still, we will be safe here until-"

There was a pop of magic, and a note sealed with the Consul's mark appeared by Silver, which stopped her words. She was hesitant to open the note, it was clear that there was some sadness associated with seeing the symbol, and she was a bit more subdued upon reading it. "W-we..." She took a deep breath, "Sorry. We need to build something quick. Something that can stop a changeling disguised as an alicorn. The Consul wants a permanent solution."

Plein looked confused, "I thought dad was the Consul? Did Mr Wright-"

Silver nodded, "He called an assembly and got elected under emergency conditions, so he's the Consul now, officially."

Plein looked conflicted, Silver was obviously sad by the news, but Plein didn't fully understand why. She simply moved to hug her mother.

(Blitz could join in the comfort, ask about the situation, or just wait for them to be done and start on a solution. If she joins in or asks they'll still move on to solutions afterwards.)

"We can't capture her. She's clearly stronger than any of us, and is on the run. I'm presuming scared.

Spiral is the only one who have gotten close to her, at least a little. Our job, is to keep others from trying to snatch up, or harm Nexus, and hope she can relate to her again, and calm her down.

We just saw what she could do, when a lot of noise happened around her. What do you think will happen, if she ends up fearing for her life?"

She couldn't imagine the exact scenario, but she had some ideas, such as several beings, and large parts of the ship, being evaporated. Alicorns were creatures that she felt to the core of her very being, should be fought for, protected, and obeyed, to a certain extend. But she were not so dense, that she didn't understand the danger one could pose too. Not enough to throw one off of the ship, like Apollo wanted, but enough to where one should make sure, to not try and cause them duress.

On 2022-10-26 at 6:53 AM, Maud Pie said:

Spiral would look to Incandescent Spark. "We better follow her then. Doesn't seem like any of the others are willing to do this. We may end up be taking a risk here, but we cannot let Akli and his followers gain the alicorn before we do." she spoke, leading him towards where the Alicorn was last seen. She was already prepared to enter combat if needbe.

Spiral had answered before she had spoken, but she figured that it were best to address the lingering question in the air, from Spark, and thus, had answered him first. Now came the time for Spiral.

"And I don't think the others are able. The general got debilitating wounds, and they're obligated to see to him first. We need to try and do this ourselves.

I know I just put a lot on your shoulders, Spiral. But you were the last to be properly ejected, so you're our best hope here. Is there anything you can tell us, about what happened?"

Last were feeling a bit iffy about this, as they went on. Not about this whole situation, or day per se, but more how wordy she were getting. Usually she tended to speak direct, and shortly. No need for extras, when it came to relaying or accepting orders, nor talking with others, as they wanted to leave her presence, as much as she wanted to leave theirs. Then today happened...

Maybe it were just because Spiral were seemingly not one, who wanted her to scram, and never return, and that affected her... Bah, who had time to think about this? They had an alicorn to track down, and precious little time to do so. It were only a matter of time, before others would-

Several curse words went through her head, as she heard the radio relay a message, that she had not wanted to come so soon.

(assuming the others can hear this radio too)

"Great... We need to speed up, and get there before they do."

Speeding up made her bend rib hurt more, but she bit the pain in her, and kept going. Long as she weren't bleeding profusely, she'd be okay to keep going. The pain would have to wait until later.

"A scent is but one option. Sounds can help too, as I need to be a fair bit closer, to try and find if that smell I search for, is present. Let us go in there, and then try and bite notice in some sign. The rushing of steps, sounds of a young voice, the peculiar tingling, or magic wafting around, raw and notable. There's plenty to work with, yet we must make haste. I fear for the project, if uncertainty and chaos, reigns for too long.

I pray to the Earth Mother, that we can somehow come to make her calm down, and not have to be subject to whatever magic she does have, if she is indeed an alicorn. I heard that can be rather... Extensive, so to speak."

Perhaps her being blind, would be a point that he could relate to her with, as he too did not have sight. It were a frail link to try and make, but he had no better right now, than that, and trying to approach with the outmost care, and respect.

*sigh* They'd have to see. For now, the trip went into the Pipeworks. Now it were just to hope that things would go well somehow, and that he'd return alive to Brittle.

She had made use of most of the powder she kept in a pouch, in her tail, for that trap. She still had enough if need be, but she'd have to make up some more eventually. It were a good, non-lethal distraction.

Blitz had probably made some weapons here. Some of them, likely without her knowing any better, but she were pretty sure that she would've noticed, if she were about to work on stuff like what she had seen, as she had skimmed over the papers briefly. And she did not want to. That were not stuff, that made things better, probably. Silver would know that better than her, but Blitz would prefer something helpful. Or bombs! Lots and lots of bombs.

"Awh, don't be sad. This is an emergency time, so he's just emergency consul. Your dad's still the real deal, Plein. And I bet if he had been here, they would've picked him first."

She were trying to be positive, and make things better, but might have accidentally done the opposite. She didn't know, as the family history here, were something she only knew very, very little of, but she just wanted to try and be nice and positive, y*know? Enough bad vibes flying around here already, and she wanted Silver and Plein to be happy, not sad.

Had this been a few years back, she might have tried to fire off some fireworks, to light the mood, but she had grown up enough to understand that there were a time, and a place for that. Plus, she did not have any more of the safe fireworks. She ran out three months ago.

"So how do we make something that can track a changeling? I dunno how to look through that."

As for the job at hoof... Well, this were certainly not something she were used to dealing with, so she'd have to rely on Silver's expertise in this, as her own suggestion would involve trying to spook them out of the disguise, with some sorta explosive. That probably wouldn't be a good thing right now though.

(All)

The Project shook as it finally started the cycle, leaving the frozen land behind.

Everyone will have less stable footing until the cycle ends.

(Last & Spiral)

There were still faint flashes coming from the direction the alicorn had run off, and getting fainter, presumably as the alicorn was getting further away from them.

10 hours ago, Blitz Boom said:

"Great... We need to speed up, and get there before they do."

Speeding up made her bend rib hurt more, but she bit the pain in her, and kept going. Long as she weren't bleeding profusely, she'd be okay to keep going. The pain would have to wait until later

Spark would nod, having gotten the same message on his radio and sending back an affirmative. "If we can get close enough to keep her in sight, that should be enough to maybe call out. At the very least we'll be able to see if anyone else is getting close to her."

Given the alicorn was using the flashes to see her surroundings, it made her easy to track, and she couldn't run at full speed or she'd risk hitting something. Still though, she was quite fast, especially down long straight sections.

In their pursuit they'd encounter some other groups that she had run past, but, due to the shaking of the cycle, they weren't difficult to get past to continue pursuit. But they were still trailing them.

Eventually though they were able to catch up enough to catch a glimpse of her before she turned another corner, Spark telling the others, "She's mapping out the space, treating it like a maze, following the right hoof rule where she'll turn right whenever it takes her somewhere she hasn't been yet. Eventually she'll get to the outer edge of the Pipeworks, which is good for us as there are no exits on the outside edge except at the engines at the very back and the pilot control systems at the very front. We could head her off there, cutting across the middle, rather than just following her."

"I do wonder how you had gotten the background and experience for this sort of thing. How organized would you say we are against preventing a long term conflict on this craft?" Trixie asked him curiously. "I fear that if fighting gets too intense, we may not end up fairing all that well..."

Dr. Conegher smiled at the statement as to his background, but he kept focus on the matters ad hoof, "The Project was originally designed with only one culture in mind, Trojan, with the Consul to keep everyone united. But the Consul stayed behind and until recently the Vice Consul did not take his place, and so Apollo as the Project Director took control. He made very good decisions in the beginning, he was once a very well respected genius, but it is apparent that his faculties have declined at an alarming rate in recent years. We should have had better programs in place for the rescued creatures, to help them integrate into the existing culture, rather than allowing them to form their own segmented cultures. That's why we need to unify the Project again, and set something up so that these divisions don't cause problems going forward."

On 2022-10-25 at 10:53 PM, Maud Pie said:

Maud's eyes narrowed. "Question is - What kind of alicorn, and who are they? Depending on what happens, this could either be our saving grace or our Achilles heel. I look forward to meeting Play Write soon, and laying out some kind of agenda for the future." she stated in a matter of fact manner.

Dr. Conegher shrugged, "That we don't know. I'll send out a message and see how soon he can meet with you."

He scrawled out a note and knocked on the door before sending the note out. "Hopefully it gets to him before he does something too rash."

(Briar)

At first there wasn't much for either of them to notice as they started walking around the Pipeworks, but after a few minutes Ensign Stripe would notice a faint flashing light, "Hmm, that's odd. There's a flashing light, and it's getting brighter. It isn't consistent or in any code that I know."

As the flashing grew brighter, eventually Briar would sense, faintly, unique magic, then even more faintly, but growing stronger, the scent, accompanied by many sets of running hoofsteps.

Ensign Stripe started moving towards the flashing light, "Should we check it out? Can you sense anything about it?"

If they approached quickly, they'd be able to get to the hallway before the alicorn passed them, running as fast as she could.

(Blitz)

10 hours ago, Blitz Boom said:

Awh, don't be sad. This is an emergency time, so he's just emergency consul. Your dad's still the real deal, Plein. And I bet if he had been here, they would've picked him first.

Silver smiled faintly at that, but shook her head, "No, it's high time we moved on. We should have moved on long ago, maybe things wouldn't have gotten this bad if Play... if Consul Wright had stepped up sooner. But I think he was grieving just as much as us."

She shook it off and turned her attention back to the problem.

10 hours ago, Blitz Boom said:

"So how do we make something that can track a changeling? I dunno how to look through that."

Silver thought a moment, "Well, they're using magic pretty much all the time, so maybe a magic scanner? But that might give a false positive on a real alicorn. Maybe if we scanned for emotional energy? Changelings don't give off emotional energy since they consume it. That would reveal a changeling, but that's not what we need to do." She shook the thoughts from her mind, "We need to try and stop the changeling. IT should be obvious when we see them that it's them. I mean, how many alicorns can there be on this ship? But if they're pretending to be an alicorn we need something that will get the changeling, and not hurt those around them." She looked back at the stuff that Blitz had rigged the door up with, "Hmm, maybe one of your traps could work? Like, maybe the itching powder? A changeling wouldn't be affected because of the field, but it would harmlessly get any ponies with them out of any fighting. Can you make it portable? Or does that give you some ideas?"

(Play Wright)

"I want the whole command sector locked down. Pilots, Comms, Records, everything. No one goes in or out until I'm ready to face Apollo myself. Block off the hallways, there should be hidden anchor points to lock the shields into to form a wall."

He sent off another group of prepared Trojans, it wouldn't be long until Apollo would be locked down, then he could go in when he was ready.

He was looking over a blueprint of the Project which was now serving as a battle map, key hallways marked with troop deployments. His gaze was interrupted by a note dropped on the desk, "An Equestrian reaching out for peace?"

He wanted to tear up the note, burn it, but he reined himself in. "Troy may have it's final victory after all. We'll see if their pride allows it."

He wrote back a message, and prepared to receive guests.

(Maud)

After a bit another note would return, and Dr' Conegher would read it before saying: "He's agreed to meet with you, the guards outside will escort you there." (You can decide if Trixie joins, or stays with the Dr.)

Spiral would agree with Last's perspective on this situation, and she would waste no time in leading them into the pipeworks. "There is a possibility we are going to have to fight off other groups. The others are too far away to help us in time if we need any backup, so we are going to be entirely on our own here." she said to Last. "I already decided that I would take lead over the Alicorn, and finding her again is already part of my obligation to keep her safe. I'm not allowing her to fall into the hands of anyone else." she said as they had entered into the Pipeworks. Spiral bore a determined expression, and she was willing to go down fighting for what she believed in - if needed.

"We gotta end fights quickly. Most we'll run into, will be civilians, but if they try something, you need to knock them out, all the same. Think of it, like it's safer for them, instead of being blasted away by Nexus. If you don't know how to, let me get close. I know my way around a knock-out."

Seemed like Spiral weren't interested in giving her details, about what had happened between her and Nexus. Might just be because the were in a hurry, and it wasn't seen as too relevant, but it were still annoying. Might have been something in that, that would've helped them, in moving forward with things. Not much to do about that right now though, she supposed. Just had to push on, and hope they'd be able to make their way through this, with a minimum of casualties, and broken limbs.

On 2022-10-27 at 8:52 PM, Illiad Easle said:

Eventually though they were able to catch up enough to catch a glimpse of her before she turned another corner, Spark telling the others, "She's mapping out the space, treating it like a maze, following the right hoof rule where she'll turn right whenever it takes her somewhere she hasn't been yet. Eventually she'll get to the outer edge of the Pipeworks, which is good for us as there are no exits on the outside edge except at the engines at the very back and the pilot control systems at the very front. We could head her off there, cutting across the middle, rather than just following her."

A few they'd encounter, that would have seen Nexus too. Should probably not be issues, as they did not seem well on their hooves. Last hadn't been either for a few seconds after the cycle had started, as the way it made her wobble, caused some brushing, against wounds she had very recently acquired. Something which made her unsure on her hooves those few seconds, as she had to bite the pain in her, regain her hoofing, and get on with it.

Though if any of these tried anything, she'd be happy to deal with them. A quick jab in the right place, and they'd be knocked out cold. Though in a pinch, a good stomach punch, would also just blow the air out of them, and make them automatically stagger backwards. Something that'd buy them a bit of time, and right now, that were what they needed, to try and catch up.

"Sounds like a plan. You two go that route. I'll continue down this one, and keep others from getting to her.

But be sure before you do something. I don't understand how this place works, but those two locations sounds important. Try not to cause a mess."

It were the best plan. It were obvious so far, that Nexus were not interested in having Last near. Spiral had so far, and thus getting Nexus to her waiting hooves, would be the best option. Last's best option then, would be to cover the flank. From the looks of things so far, it would be needed, since so many others were seeing Nexus, and sooner or later, they'd get to catch up on her. She might be a quick little one, but she were ultimately blind, and couldn't just rush off at full speed, if things got more gnarly later. Least that were what she assumed currently.

Ensign Stripe started moving towards the flashing light, "Should we check it out? Can you sense anything about it?"

"Light you say? Perhaps it is those tracking her, that is nearing. We should be prepared for such an occasion."

He did not think it connected to the alicorn at first, as light seemed an odd pick, for a blind one. Mayhap if it had given sound, but he could not hear something related to that, so he assumed that were not the case.

Yet it got clearer soon after, as he approached, and the source of the light did too, that there were more to this, than he thought.

His senses would register the sound of smaller hooves, and a light frame, running down the hallway. As would an odd vibration in the air, and a slowly nearing smell. The nuances, wouldn't hit him all at first, but as it neared, and the filly were but a half dozen meters from him, it became unmistakable. Feint and expansive, the smell were hard to pick up on, but it were yet there, and lest this were a really impressive impostor, he felt certain now: They were being approached by the alicorn, and she were fleeing. Furthermore, she were alone. At least for now.

The smell might have travelled further, if the air conditioning, blasted a fair bit of air their way. The smell were like a vague perfume, so it were not something that would travel several kilometers

"It's her, and I feel confident that she is real."

He would likely not be able to tell more than that, before she'd get near, and he had to quickly think of something to say, as he'd near, but not try to block her path, physically. He did not wish to be torn apart, or something potentially worse.

"Heed me, young miss, We are here to help."

He'd bow formally as he said that, hoping that if she did not hear his words, that least his actions would make her understand he wished to help. Perhaps she might think of him as a servant, but it were hard to say. Likely, she'd just rush past him.

Regardless, the thing he said still, made him feel as if he had erred, in some manner. Like it were not good enough. He were speaking to a blind, alicorn filly after all. Could he not have done better?

As such, he'd right after, let out a bit of a curse phrase, in his native tongue. Which would sound like wind, rustling through a section of crusty, Autumn leaves. It weren't as if any understood nature speak, as there were neither other evergrown, nor dryads - who shared the same tongue - anywhere near. Not far as he had been told at least. And if either had been boarded, and he were not informed, then he would frankly feel a little offended. He were a being of nature, and sharing words with any of his kind, or somewhat related races, would be deeply welcome. He'd take a druid at this point, even if they were not related in any way, as they at least had worship, of the Earth Mother, in common with them.

Blitz did not understand what this were about at all. But then, she didn't get involved in politics, and did not know about Silver and Plein's relationship, back down there. It seemed to make Silver sad, when the past came up, or it were dismissed, so she just ignored it. Or she just forgot, cause there were a lot to do? She couldn't remember right now. Either way, she didn't know, and still had no idea, soooo... She'd just move on. Best not to poke at this, since it seemed to be a sad thing. Better to focus on work.

Hearing the idea, of making her itching powder trap portable, made Blitz stand still for a moment, as her mind raced through a few different options. Several ideas, rough schematics, and things already made. Then a few seconds passed, and she'd start to get a look on her face, that usually made others clutch their things closer, and make sure that nothing obviously flammable were nearby.

Specifically, her irises would shrink, and her smile would get wider and wider, whilst an impish giggle went off from her. Soon after, her horn would would light up, and things would begin to float around.

The trap she had put in the wall, would be pulled out - looking like a decommissioned, or homemade landmine with some extra wiring - and taken apart near instantly, with the payload floated out. The parts she had taken apart, would keep floating there, as she'd grab one of the goo guns, and first disconnect the tank. Then in a flurry of parts rushed in, screwed in, hammered in place, and in one case, melted together. She had long been able to set a flame on her horn, and as the years passed, she could do better and better, though still only flaring up her horn. She hadn't the time to properly train her pyromancy, to the point where she could light a flame elsewhere.

It would take about a minute and a half, before she stood with a goo rifle, with itching powder in some pipes down the side. It appeared to be working off of air pressure, and would shoot a puff of high pressure itching powder out. It's sting when it hit, and then it'd REALLY start to itch.

"Done! I can make more, and full this, if I got more itching powder, but I need some stuff for that. Or do you still have the uh... I think it was five or six bags, that was taken last year? It was when Grump found my secret stash around June, and all the fun things were hauled off. I dunno what you did with it.

It was the time with the three barreled bazooka. I remember the one with the silver streak down his mane, looking at me with a hanging jaw, and just not have any words. It was pretty funny."

Blitz had her *personal stashes* confiscated at least once per year. That one in particular, were the second one last year, and had contained a fair bit of things, that were functional, but questionable. The bazooka for instance? Could be used well for a weapon, but it had been loaded up with rockets, and were designed to fire off a massive fireworks display. Change the rockets though, and it would be a far bigger issue. Some of the other things, were best dismantled, or melted. They were probably not dangerous, but the things Blitz made, that they didn't know what were, would best be studied, or destroyed, depending on the courage of those finding her things.

Then there were of course, the array of fireworks. That were the only constant in any of them. And while she did listen to others, and did for a time not make things off the record, her curiosity would inevitably take over, and they couldn't watch her 24/7, even if they tried. She could be surprisingly slippery.

(Last & Spiral)

Last was quite effective at subduing those they encountered, the element of surprise at being ambushed giving her plenty of opportunity to get her strikes in the most effective places.

(That's all that happens before they split up.)

While the alicorn hadn't paid even a passing thought to what Briar initially said, given she still didn't know Equestrian, she had kept an 'eye' on him given how different he was from the other ponies. When he spoke in nature speak, it resonated with something in her. She still had no idea what it meant, but it reminded her of how a certain other creature spoke.

Her steps faltered a bit, slowing slightly as Briar sensed more magic being sent his way, it would make it easier for Briar to catch up to her.

(Last & Briar)

Before Briar could quite catch up to her, Last would catch up to the point that she could see Briar and the guard with him between her and the alicorn.

(Spiral)

Spiral and Spark would encounter much less resistance on their new path, eventually making it to the stairway. A placard near the stairway indicated that it led up to Navigation. Spark turned to Spiral, "So, do you think we should wait here until she comes to us? Or should we head towards her and try and meet in the middle?"

(Blitz)

Silver watched Blitz work with a proud smile, she looked thoughtful when asked where her stuff had been taken, "Hmm... If I show you where we took your stuff, we'd have to find another place to hide it. I'll go get it. You stay here with Plein until I get back. If anyone comes before I get back... they'll make a good test subject."

With that, Silver would trot out of the room and canter off down the hallway.

Once Silver was out of earshot, Plein would snort, "She doesn't look at me that way. " She looked upset, "What's so special about you anyway, that my mother cares more about your ideas than her own daughter? Revealing a changeling is easy. Inert anti-magic. It'll wash off of ponies but it breaks a changeling disguise instantly. Enough of it and it'll burn them too."

(Maud)

Their travel would not be without incident, a number of Equestrians recognizing her and offering to 'free' her from the guards that held her 'captive', though Maud would likely dispel the rumors before any drastic action was taken.

She'd soon be brought to the office where Consul Wright was finishing plans. Without even looking up he'd speak, "Maud Pie, sister of the Element of Laughter Pinkamena Diane Pie. We are all sorry for your loss. It is thanks to many of her inventions that we've made it this far. But you're not here to talk about the past, you're here to discuss the future."

It was then that he looked up to meet her gaze. They matched hers for depth, but instead of sorrow deep within there was a fury. "I need the Equestrians to stand down. Stop attacking the guards. If you can do that, then I'll believe that you have enough pull to be worth counseling with. We'll have the PA office secured soon, then you can make an announcement to the ship. Unless you have another idea?"

Briar were, not sure what to think of this. He sensed something being sent his way. Some magic probably. It had an odd feeling in the air, though he couldn't tell what sort it were, for the life of him. Sensing, weren't the same as narrowing down specifics. Not with stuff like magic at least. For all he knew, she were aiming a beam of fire at him, or in some way, scanning him.

He did bite note though, in how she seemed to slow, as he spoke in his native tongue. It were a stretch maybe, but perhaps, it resonated with her? Did she perhaps understand it? He did not know, but as he moved in her direction, he'd let out some more talk. Specifically, a worker's song, he had learned when he were but a young slave, working on reinforcing the walls around their town.

It were somewhat beautiful if translated, as it spoke of the shining sun, and glittering dew, falling from the morning leaves, as trunks and vines, were lifted and worked upon. To others though, it would sound a lot like a gentle breeze through willow trees, and the almost silent unfolding of flowers. Tiny droplets of water, falling from a leaf, and the creaking of wood, as it moved slightly in a storm. A fair bit of others too, but really, it were mostly a lot of nature sounds, you'd hear if you had a nice trip through a park, or forested area.

He did not know where this would lead, but perhaps, it might make for a nice approach? He'd certainly keep his more... Predatory features hidden though, with mostly speaking and singing, with his mouth covering his teeth, as best he could.

"Oh, for crying out loud..."

She remembered the plant, from before the mission began. The guard she didn't know, but he looked fairly standard. She could also see that both him, and the plant thing, were getting closer to the alicorn.

Now, she couldn't start combat out of nowhere, lest she had no other choice, so she weren't gonna jump in yet, but she would approach, and stay ready to jump into action, depending on what the two, and more importantly, Nexus, were going to end up doing here.

Briar bit notice in her presence, but did not address her currently. He had more important things at hoof.

"Yeah, I figured that'd be the smarter way too. I just don't know how to work with that. Do you know? I still have more weapons. I could make one that fit your idea. It'd fun."

Blitz grinned ever so warmly at Plein, not fazed by the apparent jealousy in the slightest. It were a silly thing too really. Maybe she got a few praises here and there, but that didn't mean Plein were any less important.

If Plein knew how to work with inert anti magic, Blitz would be all game for following her lead on this, and make something good there.

"And I dunno why she looks at me like that. Maybe it's just cause I'm in here like, all the time? I'm not allowed to go anywhere alone, like you are. Got a room in the back, and I gotta tinker with this to get away for a bit sometimes."

She'd present her leg, and specifically, the ankel bracelet. Might be she got a few looks now and again, but well, she weren't free. Sure she loved to work, but exploring just sounded so intriguing, you know? Most she got to go - still supervised - without running off, were the cafeteria. And even that were rare. Mostly she'd be in the middle of some sorta project, and would get a sandwich or something in here.

"And I'm not that special. I think? I kinda still can't remember anything from before 4 years ago, and the stuff big bro told me, just didn't ring any bells, at all. It's kinda weird, you know? He had the pictures and all, but I just can't remember actually growing up with him, or the others in the pictures he had.

I'm hoping when we one day get back, maybe I'll have remembered something, and can go tell that to him. That'd be nice. Maybe even get some friends I can show him. They'd probably like him. He makes smart robots, and lots of way better stuff than I can do. That's why they wanted him, but he said he wanted to stay, and help down there. Gave me to the guards, and said I'd be just as helpful to them, and then said goodbye. It was kinda sad, but I got lots of work to focus on, so I don't really think about it a lot. I miss him though. He were funny."

Blitz's position - as she rambled on, finally having someone to speak to - were not as rosy as Plein might think. Sure she got a smile and such from Silver and the others now and again, but ever since she had gotten here, she had been working daily. Only breaks, being that one time, she were in a full body cast, due to an accident. And even then, she had spend the time, doodling stuff down on paper, with her horn, that could be used for work.

She had little memory of her good years, no family on The Æther, no friends, and no real freedom. All she had were her work, and while it were good and important, and kept her mind occupied, it weren't an enviable position. Nor were it something, that she wanted to focus too much on. It were sad stuff, and she didn't want to feel down. That just made everything grim and ghoulish, and where'd that get her? That's right, nowhere.

"Say, wanna test the itchy gun with me? It'll be fun We just put some regular dust first, and then see if it works. Won't that be fun?"

@Blitz Boom @Props ValRoa

(Briar & Last)

The more Briar spoke in his native language, the slower the alicorn got, until she stopped running away, and just waited for Briar to catch up. Once he was close enough she put up a shield that separated him from Ensign Stripe and Last. Allowing him to approach her.

The magic heading his way was stronger now, it seemed to lightly prod him all over, but did not hinder him.

(Spiral)

Spark recoiled from the memories he was given, "Sweet Celestia..." He shuddered, "I thought the Arcane Nexus was a myth! Like the Enigma Machine or the Pegasus Device!" He shuddered again, "Whatever you do, don't show that to her."

Still, he would Lead the way along the path that the alicorn was expected to follow, eventually reaching the shield that the alicorn had created to keep her and Briar separate from the rest.

(So now Spiral, Last, and Briar are all in the same place.)

Ensign Stripe, upon seeing that he was cut off from Briar by the shield, turned to face Last coming up behind them, ready to defend, "Stay back."

The shield blocked the hallway on both sides of the alicorn, so Last and Spiral were cut off from each other as well.

(Briar)

Once Briar got close enough to the alicorn, he would hear her voice in his mind, "Kitty? Is that you?"

Assuming that Briar denied it the alicorn would continue, "You talk like she did, I couldn't understand her so she spoke in my mind. She told me I could trust those who spoke like her if I were kind to them."

"I'm sorry for running away, I know that isn't kind. I'm just so scared, so lost, so alone. I want to go home."

(Maud)

On 2022-11-01 at 3:14 PM, Maud Pie said:

"I wouldn't be surprised if this whole Alicorn situation was just her playing a trick on everyone. To take advantage of the Chaos so that she may be the one to lead the Project. What better way, than to become of a form that is so idolized by many?" she asked, and would allow Play Write to be the one to answer.

Play nodded at that, "Yes, we're aware of Red. We have been for some time now. Queen Permu was holding out hope that she would change, let go of her anger. But it seems she won't. I've organized a few teams to work on eliminating the threat she poses. Make no mistake, she doesn't want to lead anyone. She wants to see this place destroyed. To see everyone aboard suffer."

Play moved around the table, heading out of the room, "Let's move then, once we get to the comms center you won't have long to make your announcement."

They would move quickly, flanked by a good number of guards, and would pass by wounded ponies being tended by medics, as well as a few dead bodies covered by sheets, only a few of which were Trojan. Soon they arrived at the comms office, a number of Trojans had built a wall out of their shields just past the entrance to hold back anyone who tried to pass them. Inside the office a pair of ponies were tied up in the corner. Play nodded, then directed a second wall be erected just behind the entrance to the comms room, "You've got the comms, as soon as you start they'll be trying to get through that wall to stop you. So make it quick. We will close up this second wall the moment they break the first one. Best you got out of there before then."

That said the Consul would move back behind the second wall, a hole big enough for her to run through was left, a pony stood ready with the last shield to close the hole at a moment's notice.

"Yeah, I figured that'd be the smarter way too. I just don't know how to work with that. Do you know? I still have more weapons. I could make one that fit your idea. It'd fun."

Plein pouted, "No, I don't. She never wanted to teach me about it. I only got to learn about it through Play. And now he's the Consul so he's not going to have time for me either."

On 2022-11-01 at 4:37 PM, Blitz Boom said:

"And I dunno why she looks at me like that. Maybe it's just cause I'm in here like, all the time? I'm not allowed to go anywhere alone, like you are. Got a room in the back, and I gotta tinker with this to get away for a bit sometimes."

She rolled her eyes at that, "I'm not allowed to go anywhere alone, that's what the necklace is for. But I don't let them stop me. You know we have a room right? Her and I? A nice one too since my father is... was... the Consul. Guess where mom would rather sleep once I was old enough to take care of myself?" It was obvious by her tone that the answer was not there.

On 2022-11-01 at 4:37 PM, Blitz Boom said:

It was kinda sad, but I got lots of work to focus on, so I don't really think about it a lot. I miss him though. He were funny."

Plein listened, but didn't respond to what Blitz said there. She simply couldn't relate to it.

On 2022-11-01 at 4:37 PM, Blitz Boom said:

"Say, wanna test the itchy gun with me? It'll be fun We just put some regular dust first, and then see if it works. Won't that be fun?"

Plein started to tear up at that, but not in a good way. "No! No it won't be fun!" She let out an exasperated sigh, "No wonder she likes you more, you two are the same. The only time she spends with me is when it's something she likes or is passionate about. Well sorry I ended up more like my father. I like art! I like exploring! I like adventure! But she doesn't know that because she doesn't pay attention. All she cares about is her experiments and her inventions, and she can hardly stand to be around me because I'm too much like him."

She started crying there, and became a bit more receptive, "I'm scared to get my mark, because what if it's just like his? Then she won't even want to look at me."

(Briar and Last)

13 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

The more Briar spoke in his native language, the slower the alicorn got, until she stopped running away, and just waited for Briar to catch up. Once he was close enough she put up a shield that separated him from Ensign Stripe and Last. Allowing him to approach her.

The magic heading his way was stronger now, it seemed to lightly prod him all over, but did not hinder him.

Briar were uncertain what were going on. He seemed to be examined in some way, and the air flow had changed around him, indicating... A magical bubble of sorts? It would fit with the odd vibration in the air. Yet it did not seem to be a dangerous thing. The filly had halted, let him get this close, and if the prodding were her trying to ascertain who, or what, he were... He had an opening here, yet he needed to thread with outmost care.

A sentiment that Last agreed with, as she saw him get locked in like this, and gritted her teeth. What were going to happen here now? Whatever it were, she were locked off again. Sure she could cut her way through, but unless he tried something, it would only serve to alarm Nexus further, causing considerable havoc. And likely pulverizing her, and she weren't ready for that. Not due to her own idiocy at least.

14 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

"Kitty? Is that you?"

The words in his head seemed telepathic. Must mean that she had made a connection then, and he could reply in kind. If she were connecting with his magic to do so, she'd find his center for magic, being the flower on his head, and the magic not being raw and arcane, but a soothing, calm nature magic. Strong in its own right, but not in the raw sense that the arcane were.

"I am profoundly sorry, little miss, but I am not. My name is Briar."

He considered it best to not go on with his last name, as it were potentially a little alarming, and thus, would be for later. Furthermore, he usually said that before bowing his head or something else, and he were known to waffle on after that, so he wished to make it brief, and allow her to talk right now. It appeared she had much to say.

14 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

"You talk like she did, I couldn't understand her so she spoke in my mind. She told me I could trust those who spoke like her if I were kind to them."

"I'm sorry for running away, I know that isn't kind. I'm just so scared, so lost, so alone. I want to go home."

"It's okay, little miss. I understand. You're away from all you know, and where you call home. Its understandable to feel lost, and scared. I felt the same, when I lost my home, many moons ago."

He still recalled wandering out of the jungle, confused, hyped on adrenaline, and feeling a right mess. Pain from the rings that ad been jammed into his legs, fear from having to face the world, anger at those who cast him out... But more than anything, he had felt lost. He were made to go into a world he did not know, and did notunderstand, away from friends and purpose. It were incredibly daunting, but he had a chance encounter. A random shot in the dark, from one reaching out, and helping him.

It seemed... It were his turn now, to be like his old friend had been. Earth Mother be willing, he would do it well.

"Someone reached out to me back then. A friend, who made the world seem a lot less scary, and helped me find my way. If you'd allow it, I'd be happy to do the same for you, little miss.

Your home... Do you want to talk about it? Perhaps your kitty?"

He'd still give her some personal space, and kept his teeth and vines as secluded as they currently were, as he calmly, and slowly, saw down, to seem more approachable, and indicate he were not aiming at going closer, than she felt comfortable with. Whatever he could, to make her feel more comfortable around him, which included him speaking to her in a calm, soothing... Mind? Voice? He did not know, but if his mind sounded like his voice, it should be as calm as his voice at least. Something he had gotten better at, years after years, to try and ease tensions even more, when meeting others the first time.

Meanwhile, outside of the shield, Last would look at Spark. The little gnat who had called her out. Potentially thinking he could intimidate her? Laughable notion, if that were the case. He were about as scary, as an empty carton of milk.

14 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

Ensign Stripe, upon seeing that he was cut off from Briar by the shield, turned to face Last coming up behind them, ready to defend, "Stay back."

"Bite me, pipsqueak. I'm not here for you."

She weren't approaching closer, as the shield cut her off regardless, but she wasn't wasting much time on Stripe either. She said her piece, but stopped looking at him halfway through. Unless he tried something, she wouldn't have to kick him in the face. If he did, then the hoof knocking him out, would be on him. Though she might go for a gut punch too. Did well in incapacitating for a moment, long as she didn't hit hard enough to potentially rupture something.

13 hours ago, Maud Pie said:

Spiral would look to the others around in the area. "Everyone, calm down. Let's approach this calmly, okay?" she asked all of them, urging them all to come down before she would take any motions to proceed. It seemed like they had gotten into a somewhat safe situation, so in her mind it was paramount to not risk it turning into a volatile situation.

Her eyes would fall upon the alicorn filly. She wanted to give the alicorn filly a hug - and so with her mind, she would reach out with her mind to the filly. The filly would feel a warm mental embrace from Spiral, and she could likely tell where that feeling was coming from - Spiral. It was a mental hug.

"Nobody will hurt you here. I mean no harm. I am here. What is your name?" she would ask the filly mentally.

Last would not make a move further, as she heard Spiral. Seemed she had convened on her location, albeit on another side of the shield. Good potentially. Might give them enough angles to cover all sides, from potential attackers. Like this one might be. They'd see.

As for Briar... Well, all depended on if the message did come through, and if so, she were intruding on their conversation. In which case, he'd be rather confused.

Honestly, she didn't know what a consul were. Some sort of office boss, she assumed. A leader of a kind at least, but others ran The Æther, so couldn't be like that, right?

14 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

"That's weird. I always figured she'd go home and sleep, whenever she wandered off at night... That isn't very nice of her. She'll need to do better."

Sure she thought Silver were awesome awesome, but not perfect, and this certainly weren't perfect behavior. Especially since Plein were still a filly, so she should have a parent there.

Sure sure, she had taken care of herself, once she woke up in the forest, and she had just been ten, but Blitz knew that wasn't normal. Regular foals, should be near adults, at least a fair portion of their day, not in school. Silver were gonna have to explain this one, cause this weren't very nice of her, and it were clear that Plein did not think it okay too. She seemed pretty bitter about it.

Also odd to hear that she too had a tracker on her, and that apparently were the necklace. She weren't sure if that were from concern, or if it were some sort of danger thing, like herself... Hopefully the former.

14 hours ago, Illiad Easle said:

Blitz went right over, soon as Plein started to cry, and brought her into a big hug. She didn't like to see others sad, and especially not for reasons like this. This were... She didn't know what to say. It were very, very odd, and kinda cruel too, if what Plein thought were true. But it couldn't be, right? Silver wouldn't... Right?

"Then I'm gonna glue pictures of you, to her face, so she can't avoid it. It's seriously mean, if she doesn't wanna look at, or interest herself in you. Imma gonna tell her that when she gets back. I don't wanna see you being sad.

Then when this is all over, I'll disable my ankle bracelet, and we can go explore The Æther! Oh, or we could do it right now! How dangerous could it really be out there? And I bet we'd be able to do something ourselves. I got enough itching powder, goo guns, fireworks, and smoke bombs, to get us through anything. And explosives! *gasp* Wonderful, beautiful explosives!"

Blitz would beam towards Plein, feeling hype at the thought of them going out, and really going to work on things. And it'd be super easy to disable her ankle bracelet. Well, okay, she were just gonna peel it off. Normally she wouldn't, but y'know, this were different, and this way, they'd be able to show Silver than Plein were more than worth keeping an eye on, cause she were gonna be part in saving The Æther! Potentially from her, but meh, details.

On 2022-11-04 at 4:46 AM, Blitz Boom said:

Your home... Do you want to talk about it? Perhaps your kitty?"

She looked, or rather felt, conflicted. There was an empathy inside her for what Briar had told her about his own past. But there was also some hesitation before she started speaking again. "It was cold. Orderly. Not like this place. It's too hot here, and wet. Mother told me that one day she would make the whole world like home, then I could go anywhere and be comfortable."

"Kitty told me my mother was wrong. That her plans would hurt lots of ponies. I didn't like when she talked about my mother. and Mother didn't like it either, so she put Kitty in a cage and forbode me to see her. But she could still talk in my mind."

"Kitty... she told me she was a Kitsune. Which I think is just a very smart fox with lots of pretty tails. She had eight tails, she told me she got one every time she made a true friend. After Mother put her in a cage she told me she got her ninth tail, but I never got to see it. I..."

She felt concerned, frustrated as she tried to remember more, "I don't know what happened next. How I got here. Where are we? Were you captured by the rebels too?"

(Spiral)

Spiral would find the alicorn's mental defenses up as she spoke with Briar, the feeling and words bouncing off like water against a wall. The alicorn appeared to be calming nonetheless.

(ALL)

Everyone would hear the first half of Maud's announcement (Everything stated in the quotes).

(Last)

Ensign Stripe didn't rise to Last's taunt, and didn't take his eyes off of her during the announcement. "So, are you going to stand down now? Or does she not speak for you?"

(Spiral)

Spark looked a bit more concerned by the announcement. "You think Apollo got her? And is forcing her to say things like that?"

(Maud)

Consul Wright advised against talking about the changeling, more for lack of time than safety.

Almost as soon as Maud started her announcement, there were loud clangs against the wall of shields holding back the loyalists from her, then a bit of silence at the mid point.

When she got to the end of her prepared speech there was a sharp noise, like talons scraping against metal. If she looked out into the hallway she'd see the Minostralium plated talons of Apollo starting to cut through the shield wall. Unless she wanted to be the next thing he sliced she needed to get out of there quickly, so she wouldn't have time to comment on the changeling.

If she delayed, then the second wall would be closed to her, otherwise she would get away, back to the protection that the Trojans offered.

Plein didn't really respond to the hug, or to her words, as she silently sobbed, but she did lean a bit towards Blitz.

"I... stars..." The voice came from behind them, in the direction of the door, if Blitz turned she would see Silver standing there, her expression distraught, holding the items that she had gone to get. She set them down where she was and cautiously approached the pair. "Plein... My sweet little filly... I..." There were tears in her own eyes as she lowered herself to their level. "There aren't excuses for what I've done, or rather haven't done, in leaving you alone. I should have been there for you, I'm sorry."

If Blitz allowed it, Silver would join in the hug, speaking softly into Plein's ear, "I've always been proud of you, even if I haven't been able to properly show it. You do remind me of your father, your father... was a wonderful stallion, and you're growing to be an equally wonderful mare. I know I've missed a lot, and it's my own fault for not being stronger for you, but I promise that once this is over, I'll be there for you going forward."

(Red)

Red sneered at the announcement, "It seems we have a usurper. She does not speak for us does she?"

Those gathered around her shook their heads, "No my princess!"

She nodded, "Well, then we need to stop her before she corrupts the less stalwart! Lead us to her so that she may be properly punished!"

(Most of the active characters are now in the front half of the ship, All within striking distance of Navigation and taking control of the Project. Maud is targeted by both Red and Apollo now.)

She felt concerned, frustrated as she tried to remember more, "I don't know what happened next. How I got here. Where are we? Were you captured by the rebels too?"

Briar listened patiently, at what he were told, as the filly opened up to him. It appeared that her idea of a kitty, were not ah, what he had expected. Though as he never had hung out with kitsune, as far as he were aware, he couldn't in all honesty tell, if they referred to themselves like that, in some contexts. He couldn't recall hearing tales of extra tails though, in those stories he had heard, but all were different, and mutations, be they physical or magic, were possible.

He were more surprised in all honesty, that she knew how to speak the tongue of nature. Far as he had been aware, only evergrown, dryads, and ents, were able to do so. And he were still not convinced that ents were real, and not just a widespread urban legend, in parts made by others mistaking sightings of evergrown and dryads.

He supposed, druids might speak nature to a certain degree too, so that did indicate that others races could learn... Huh, perhaps something to look into at some point. Could be interesting to hear how many others, had heard speak like this, from non-nature based creatures.

"I've never met a kitsune, but I hear they are wise and beautiful creatures. And of what she told you, I think those stories are true.

I have travelled long and far, and known many weathers. From the humidity of the jungle, to the dry steppes of great deserts, and the frozen north, where snow laid in layers upon layers, and I felt a chill to my very core. Some places are not nice to be in, when you are used to something else, but those who live in those places, are used to living like that. They wouldn't be comfortable, if things changed. Some might not even survive, if their climate changed. So it is important, to try and keep things as they are, for the sake of the many, even if it isn't comfortable.

Between us, I find this climate a little dry and uncomfortable too at times. But I find there are places that are more suited for my wants. I'm certain there are space, where you'd feel comfortable too, little miss."

She did seemingly not want to talk ill of her mother, so Briar did not say a word about her, just to be safe. He disagreed with her wholly, but he believed that it were better that instead of saying why he thought she were wrong, to express why the kitty had a point, and what the reason for her dissident were. Again, without insulting the mother. No need for them to go down that route, and potentially cause ire, no? Alicorn or not, he did not want to be rude to anyone, if it could be helped.

"As for where we are... I can assure you at first, I'm not a prisoner. Where I'm from, it became very dangerous. The same were the case for many, many others, the world over. This place, picks up those such as I, and many others, who wants to escape from the danger, and offer us a safe place to be, until things gets better. They call it The Æther. It is an ah... How should I put it... Flying construction, of massive size, that houses several thousand creatures. I have not experienced much of it, and I admit that much of the splendor, is somewhat lost on me. Sadly visual greatness, can be lost on the blind.

But I yet hear the voices of others, and hear how they feel. Their sounds of relief, and tears of joy, from being safe... It is precious enough for me, to count as a marvel by itself."

On 2022-11-03 at 9:51 PM, Maud Pie said:

"This is Maud Pie speaking to everyone aboard. I speak as not only the leader of the Equestrians, but of one who wants to bring a new vision to us all. I urge the Equestrians to stop attacking the guards and to stand down and await further instruction. Remind yourselves of the desolation we are surrounded by and the high stakes that are in place as of this very moment. Discord would be laughing at the sight of our affairs. Divided. Chaotic." she spoke in a deep and thoughtful tone.

"Is this really what we want to be? Like him? Or will we all embrace a better future? A future of Unity and Co-Operation onboard this vessel between all groups involved. If the lot of you can stand down peacefully, I am sure we can come to an agreement on neutral grounds. From this moment on - those who continue to attack the guards shall be the very enemy of peace. Choose wisely - A house divided cannot stand." she would further add, her manner of speaking having an untold amount of importance in it's word.

If Play Write had approved of her mentioning Red over the announcements, Maud would speak about who Red was and what she was likely doing - Impersonating an alicorn, with the goal of destroying the Project and causing everyone to suffer. Maud would also call out Red's general treachery and intentions towards those onboard.

His ears would perk, as he heard this message ring out. Assuming the filly did not know what this meant... He had to try and calm her, yes? He'd try, best he could at least.

"There is a lot of ruckus here right now, sadly. You arrived with others, and things have heated up. What you heard, were them calling out for all to stand down, and relaxing. But the tensions will take time to lower, so it isn't safe here.

I were hoping when I approached you, to help you get to safety. I understand it isn't easy to trust one you just met, but I'd hope you'd give me the chance, little miss. If not, might I at least wander with you, to where you'd like to seek shelter for now? It hurts my heart, to think of you alone and scared out there."

While he had his talk with her, which hopefully were going well, Last kept watch. She did not react much to the message, beyond her right ear perking a little, but that were it. And she did not bother looking over at the pipsqueak, as he called her out again. She'd answer, but that didn't mean she'd bother looking at him, lest she heard or sensed him move, in a way that made her think he attacked her. In which case, she'd beat the tar out of him.

On 2022-11-08 at 10:20 PM, Illiad Easle said:

"The stars and moon, are the only ones that are left, to speak for me now. Not her. Not even if she's family, to one of the bearers.

And my weapon ain't drawn, pipsqueak."

She weren't actively looking to beat him up, so how could she stand down? Unless he meant to surrender her weapon, which were not happening. She did not disarm for anyone, that wasn't of royal blood, or a respected superior. Not willingly, anyway. And this twerp, wasn't someone who'd be able to make her throw down her weapon.

If he went as far as to having meant that she should surrender, she might actually kick him in the face. Surrendering were the way of cowards. And if this one were one of Akli's little servants? It'd be over her dead body.

Her words carried a certain low degree of melancholy, beneath the irritation, and stubbornness though. Memories came up, of her comrades fighting without pause, or hesitation, to get as many survivors away as possible, knowing they'd die in the process. But they never flinched, or fell back. Were she still alive, Princess Luna would have been proud of them.

...She should have fallen with them... Least then she'd fly amongst the stars, instead of trudging alone through this mockery of a life.

(Blitz)

Blitz had been hoping for a moment, that they could just rush out, and show the whole ship, that they could handle this. But Silver had gotten back, and overheard things instead. And it made her confront things, and be forced to be faced, by her neglecting her mother job. And she took it to her, and said she'd do better! *gasp* Awesome news!

Blitz didn't rush into the hug, thinking it were a mom and daughter thing, buuuut getting invited... Well, seemed rude to not join in, and hug them both then, right? it were what Pinkie would've done.

After the speech were done, it would be a somber, nice moment too. For about a second, before a small firework went off over them. What? She still had a few small things, and this were harmless. It were one of the fireless ones. Which sadly also meant it weren't that impressive, but still, it had glittery pops and stuff. It were the best she could do, on short warning, and in a place that could be a fire hazard otherwise.

"See? Happy days ahead! Now we just need to solve this whole issue, and you two can go learn to be closer, and spend more time together! I promise I'll pester her to go home earlier, Plein. I can totally take over some duties. Probably. If there's like, notes, or directions. Anyway, I will help!"

The message came through here too, and Blitz would audibly gasp loud, and perk up, hyped on energy.

"Oh! Oh! I know her!!! She's Pinkie Pie's sister! I saw her one time, when I were delivering confetti bombs for Pinkie's cannon! She looked unimpressed, but then she kicked a stone in half. She'd super strong! *gasp* I wanna meet her too!"

By all accounts, Pinkie Pie were but a memory now. Least accordingly to what she had been told. But Maud were still alive! That meant she could meet her, and share stories of Pinkie. Remembering old times and stuff. That'd be nice. She missed her friends from Ponyville, but Pinkie especially. The energy, boundless joy and acceptance the mare had to just about anyone - herself included, as she had wandered into town, some time after the crash - had given Blitz energy, and ideas. Things that had given her a starting spark, though her idolizing hadn't stopped. Not even after Pinkie were gone, as the idea of her, were still there to inspire, and bring joy. At least to her.

Consul Wright would help seal the second shield wall once Maud was through. "We? You are going somewhere safe. You're too important now to get killed by Apollo. I am going to stay here, and stop Apollo, by any means necessary."

Silver didn't look as pleased to hear the announcement as Blitz was, "We can only hope many listen, but I think this will just aggravate those convinced by the changeling. We need to get moving, here's your itching powder, time to give your gun a real test."

She'd wait for Blitz to get the gun fully ready, then lead the way through the Project. Things had started to calm down in this area of the ship, but there was evidence that things were moving towards the front, as evidenced by several equestrians running towards the front, forming a large group with a large red alicorn at the center moving with purpose towards the front.

"I were born blind, yes."

It appeared this were a common link between them, that they could connect over. Not the best, yet perhaps, it would be one that were gonna be the most beneficial for the young mare, as time went on. He did not think many on this ship were blind, so if she were to learn how best to handle herself with that in mind, if she had some issues, Briar might be one of the better ones to help her. It were true that his senses were higher, and in part, his nature magic helped him to sense things more clearly, but she were an alicorn, who seemingly already used her magic to sense things around her. He hoped that he could help her, in some way, by applying the same logic he did naturally, to her abilities.

If she stood close enough to him, to touch him, she may feel that he were not entirely normal feeling. Whilst his exterior looked passably equine, his fur were more of a mossy, grassy layer. Just as his skin were a rubbery bark, and his mane and tail, made out of straw. It were convincing, but once you got up close, or even felt it, it would become more obvious that he wasn't normal, in an equine sense.

"I think I know of a place. Follow me then, little miss."

He wouldn't lead her back to Akli. She wished for a quiet place, and it wasn't, where he were right now. The path there would also pose some issues, as by now, it would surely have others wandering, and looking out for this alicorn. Each with their own goal in mind for her. At least she did not have that to fear from Briar. He neither worshipped, nor hated alicorns, nor had any desire of using her for anything. He had his goddess, and a want for peace and quiet. That were about it.

As it stood, he also couldn't take her back to where Brittle were. It would put her in the crossfire, and he had deliberately done his, to ensure that would not happen. Furthermore, where as normal magic likely would do nothing against the sacred tree's seed, that were in his room, alicorn magic might, and well... As he had sadly learned, it were composed of rather high amounts of chaos and nature magic, wrapped in on itself. An accident might happen, causing a disastrous ripple effect there.

So he would instead lead her elsewhere. A little corner, near the agricultural area, where he sometimes sat down and had a breather with Brittle, when things got a little too much for her. Unless that were simply too far off, or filled with others looking for the filly, He would instead then head for the general area where Brittle and him were. He seemed to recall there being an empty room, a bit further down, that might be usable... Though that might also be filled, in which case, he'd just aim to go for where he heard the least amount of sound, and follow that, until he found some room for them to hunker down, and have a breather. Hopefully, nothing bad were going to happen on this trip...

"You're right, you don't want to fight me."

She glared at him, her icy blue eye, looking as if she were trying to pierce him with a glance alone.

"And I am not leaving her. I've sworn, in the name of Princess Luna, to keep the filly safe, after we found her. I'd sooner die than break my oath.

Or do you expect me to just let Akli come around, and this time not stop him, in trying to toss her off the ship? Or another one of Apollo's lackeys, to kill her? You can forget it, pipsqueak."

She were not afraid of this one. She might have been at a disadvantage, with all the magic users, but this? This meager little pony? If she wanted to, she could break his neck, in less time than it would take for him, to give her his name. She wouldn't, but she could. And even without deadly force, he'd be beaten back easily, even if she weren't feeling her best.

She did not see Spiral yet, but perhaps if she didn't shadow force her way around, she'd be able to notice her at some point. For all she knew right now, the mare were still with that other guard, waiting for the filly to show up.

Blitz would fill up the prepared gun she had right away, when the powder were given back to her. She'd also fill the pouch she had in her tail up again, and put it back in there, so she had some for backup. Her tail were rather huge, and hadn't diminished in thickness, since she were a small filly. So she still kept things in here, to carry around. Some itching powder were easy, long as she did not keep it in an open pouch. She had done so before, and boy howdy, had her flank itched! After she had stumbled, that were. Annoying little accident.

She'd also take some extra *fun stuff* with her, in a pouch slung across her back, or potentially a saddlebag, depending on what she could see. Seemed like they could use all sorts of fun things here, just to be extra secure, right?

Blitz would offer the other two guns to her friends, before they left. They might not have itching powder, but they were still made for ponies to use, and had some usage in keeping others down, in a safe way, so... Y'know, they were still usable. Why waste them, right? But it were their choice in the long run. As were it for them to hold the gun with itching powder, if for instance, Silver preferred doing that, over Blitz. Which might well be the smartest. As had been shown, Blitz were a little bit trigger happy. If Silver did, Blitz would take one of the other guns instead.

As they looked on, they'd get to see a very weird sight. An alicorn! But... It looked weird. That wasn't lone of those that Blitz knew. Were this the one causing the ruckus? Or the other one? Uuuuh... This wasn't her kind of thinking. She didn't know.

"Silver? Is that the bad one? She looks weird."

Ensign Stripe sighed, "Fine, it seems our goals are aligned for the moment. But if I find out you're lying about your intentions... you'll find no peace even in death." Ensign Stripe was a zebra, which were notorious for their connections to the dead. While Stripe himself may not have any mystic powers, it wouldn't be a hard assumption to think he might know a mystic that could cause problems in the afterlife.

As such Last would be allowed to approach by Stripe, not that she needed his permission, as he too moved to keep pace with Briar, who had set course away from the front of the ship.

Unfortunately that would send them towards the Equestrians loyal to Red, who had warned them against imposter alicorns. "There! The imposter! We must bring her to our Princess for punishment!"

They would charge at the shield, which unfortunately due to the narrowness of the hallways in the pipeworks would block Last and Stripe from getting past to defend.

Princess Aurum stopped when the first Equestrians struck her shield, recoiling slightly, "What is happening? Why are we being attacked?"

Those stairs we were by earlier should get you up to the right level, but you'll have to convince those guarding to let you through."

On 2022-11-12 at 2:57 PM, Maud Pie said:

If he was able to give any kind of indication where Apollo was, she would turn to pure shadow and vanish within the shadows along the walls.

Spark would be surprised by Spiral's sudden disappearance, but would quickly move to follow Last and Briar.

Spiral would be able to make it to the shield wall where Consul Wright and the other Trojans were preparing to fight Apollo. A small amount of smoke passed through the wall of shields, indicating the fate of the comms room after Maud had left.

Unfortunately for Spiral, due to the amount of magic in the area there were very little shadows for her to pass through. Even so, Apollo was already starting to damage the wall.

(Maud & Blitz)

Maud and Blitz would find themselves on opposite sides of Red's group as they made their way towards the front. The Equestrians attacking her guards and those defending the front from behind, while Blitz, Silver, and Plein were similarly able to get the jump on those in the back of Red's group. Resulting in both the Trojans and Red's group to be flanked by each other.

"I have high senses, yet I use my own magic to help things too. Though it is different than yours, it seems we both have found a way to use what gifts we have, to ease our lives, through unfortunate circumstances."

He felt rather bad for the filly. He knew basically nothing of her, and thus, not where she came from either, but he wish he knew at least something she could use. It couldn't be good for her, to wander with such fundamental questions. And if it were from a place ruined, where none remained that she knew, and her home laid in ruins... The poor thing wouldn't have anything left, which she had gotten used to. How could his heart-root not bleed for that?

Briar's smile would widen a little, though he kept his teeth still covered. If she could see with magic, she might notice, and he did not want her to be worried, that perhaps, he were planning on eating her, or some other nefarious act, which might spring to her mind, once she realized that he were technically a predator. She might also question it, if she took notice in the hard-wood, colored rings, that were jammed into his legs, via the metal pins connecting them. The color she'd likely not notice, but the fact he had what could be considered a half dozen, very aggressive *piercings*, she may be curious. Though he could explain that well, without causing concern. Normally at least. It were something that were questioned of him a fair few times in the past.

Princess Aurum stopped when the first Equestrians struck her shield, recoiling slightly, "What is happening? Why are we being attacked?"

A very rude, very unwelcome interruption would then happen, by a bunch of fanatics, attempting to charge into the shield, to harm the little one.

"Not for any good reason, I assure you. Stand behind me please, Aurum. I will try and talk sense to them."

He'd clear his throat, and open his mouth to speak to them in more common ponish, rather than the mind talk they had engaged in thus far. It were not something he assumed would work, but it were a chance he would take, before more... Rough treatment, would come into play.

"Please stop! She is not an impostor. I ask of you, to be sensible, and walk away. Leave her at peace."

A loud whistle would come from behind them, on the other side of the bubble. Were they blocked in fully now?

"Hey, plant guy! Back up, and clear the path. I'll deal with them."

Last would call out, ready to jump in, and do her duty. Long as there'd be some bloody room! And if they backed up, giving the two of them room to get there, there'd be room to go on the offense. And frankly, she could use the distraction, as she were beginning to think that due to the increased pain, her rib weren't bruised, or bent. It were likely cracked. She could use some fighting to get some steam off, from this pent up pain that were starting to irk her, along with several other things. Like how for instance, this odd, sharp toothed plant pony, were allowed to be near the alicorn, rather than her. Least he seemed harmless. Or at least, not like he wanted to cause her pain. Guess she'd give him that. She were still a bit jealous though.

She neglected to answer the pipsqueak over this, cause this were frankly more important, and she weren't afraid of him, just for being a striper. All sorta stories, mysterious mumbo jumbo, and yada yada. Big words, with little teeth, far as she cared, and she had real things to be concerned about in the here and now.

Briar would tell Aurum that they had some behind them, that would engage the attackers, but they had to move back, and then find another route. Somewhere with less confused ponies, led astray.

Resulting in both the Trojans and Red's group to be flanked by each other.

All of these things going on, and here were Blitz. Guns of fun, a bag of goodies, and no confirmation from Silver, who they were against. So she'd go by her gut instinct, and say those following the red one, were the baddies. And that mean, it were the best time of any invention.

Product testing!

Magic and hoof on the ready, she'd swing the gun into position, and aim at Red's group, with a big, near manic grin on her face. And then-

Boom!

Or okay, she wished it made a large, earth shattering sound. She loved those. But no, it just let out a sound, that make it sound like an air soft gun, as small puffs of itching powder, were shot away, by blasts of compressed air, one shot at a time. Those hit, would feel like someone had thrown a bean bag on them, and then the itching powder... Well, she hadn't this with her in the first place, for it being weak. She originally did it, to put in traps, to fear away wild animals from her shed in the forest, when she were sleeping. THis stuff wouldn't get off, unless you used water. And since she had been in the forest, she had only gotten access to better materials, and now also a way to toss it at others, at high speed. This stuff would not go off without a solid rinse, and by Celestia, it were going to Itch like crazy! Not *trying to scrape your own skin off to make it stop* dtrong. Nono, that were way too much. More of a *I don't care if I'm in public, this itchaaaaahs!!" sorta thing. And if that didn't work on all? There'd be more fun stuff!

She might accidentally hit some of the good ones, but in fairness, she couldn.t tell the difference. Only ones she assumed weren't the baddies, were the ones in the big bubble, that she could spot up ahead. Which were just grand, cause that meant there were no running off, from the itchy bombardment!

If she'd see Maud, Blitz would let out a gasp, and rise a hoof up to wave.

"Hi Pinkie sister!"

She'd still shoot though. There were a solid sixty shots or something for her to work with, before the air were gonna need more time to build pressure, so they could bring it on.

(Briar and Last)

The enthralled Equestrians would not stand down at Briar's urging, and their continued attacks on the shield only served to make Aurum more uneasy, especially when the voice called out from behind them.

Still, when Briar suggested letting those behind them pass by so they could go another way, she nodded, scooting to the side and reducing the size of her bubble so that Last, Stripe, and Spark could get through to try and hold off the Equestrians, who were emboldened by the shrinking shield, unaware of their plans.

Once the three guards were passed she restored the shield to full size and turned back the way they had come, ready to follow Briar again. "They're so angry, do they hate me?"

The Equestrians, while untrained, did have the benefit of numbers, which while that wouldn't help too much against three trained guards, would still cause troubles if they kept their methods to non-lethal. They would probably not come out unscathed due to some lucky hits.

(Maud)

Given they were immediately attacked, there wasn't any room for her to get outfitted with anything, other than potentially picking up a sword left on the ground by a fallen Trojan.

(Maud, Spiral, Blitz)

Blitz's attack, coming from behind the group, managed to incapacitate a good number of the Equestrians without friendly fire, but it wasn't quite half of the whole group who continued pressing forward. Those now in the back were afraid to try and approach Blitz in fear of getting the itching powder on themselves, but it didn't stop them from sending spells their way, which Silver and Plein deflected with a shield, "We need to keep moving, try and get ahead of the group. This way."

Silver would duck around a corner to try and flank the group.

At the same time, Apollo would break the shield wall, immediately getting hit by several spells waiting for him, which he seemed to simply shrug off as he pressed forward, his eyes on the Consul himself.

Red would also be moving towards the Consul, though when Apollo appeared she directed her followers to try and get at him directly, many breaking off to try and get around behind Apollo.

"They do not hate you, Aurum. They're... Confused. Manipulated by another, making them act irrationally. You will see when all of this is over, and the one using them have been apprehended, that they're still good creatures at heart."

He had to believe that at least, and truly, he actually did. Equestrians were... A simple folk. Much as his kind had faith, so they did. It were just that they put their faith into creature, who could stand and speak to them, giving them orders. Normally he had found reverence in his time, but after Equestria fell... Someone taking the right time, to strike at a hopeful spark of the desperate, could make them do irrational things. As were evident, in the actions they were seeing. Hopefully when all were said and done, they'd be rightly embarrassed at their actions, and seek forgiveness.

For now though, he'd guide her in the other direction, hoping they'd find someplace quiet, leaving Last and the others, to deal with this. He were not thrilled by leaving them alone, but they had insisted... Or well, she had at least. He hoped she'd make it through this one one piece, though judging by the sounds, it were not her that he had to be worried about.

Last Stand were going at this with determined fervor. No weapon drawn, as she'd definitely end up at least cutting off a few legs if she did, so she'd be brute forcing her way here. Kicking, tackling, grabbing hold of a few, and violently tossing them into others... She took some beatings too. Blood rolled down here and there, and she'd feel more hits on what were gonna be some impressive future blue marks. At this point, they'd end up covering her entirely, and she'd feel sore for weeks. But she didn't care. The pain she felt, the blood rolling? Fuel for her fervor, as she'd fight these untrained civilians, and pushing them back. She weren't gonna chase through, and try and hit their backline though. Her job were to keep this bubble safe, and thus, would focus on making sure they did not push through, rather than keeping pressure up. At least at first. If they started to retreat, she'd be able to push along. Likely with some help with pipsqueak and who else were there. She didn't pay much attention to them, beyond making sure they weren't who she for instance, would grab hold of, and use as an impromptu battering ram.

"Distraction!"

Blitz would be shouting this as she shot, though something else were let out by her too. A small cylinder, floated out of her bag, which after a few more shots, would shatter on the floor. The thick smoke that'd come from this, were not harmful, but it covered them well, as they'd make for their flanking option, as Silver had said. Though Blitz still shot one more time through the smoke, just for good measure. This were fun! And it were getting impactful too, judging by those she had hit, being incapacitated it appeared, due to the itching. Or at least diminished in strength, which were good too. Long as it wasn't lethal, that were the important part.

She'd follow Silver, and shoot at whomever seemed to be potential issues. Might hit a few friendly fires too honestly, but it wasn't like she knew who everyone here were, in her defense. They didn't wear a badge going *Hi, I'm with (insert name)*. Shed also have some more things at oof ready, in case it got nasty. Say if enough got close, she'd turn her hoof towards them, and use the blast wave again. They'd been walking, and staying active for a bit here. There'd be some charge in it. Not enough to toss everyone to the other side of the ship. Only about a fifth or so, but that would be enough to push them back a meter or two. That'd still prove useful.

SO she'd more or less be ion the offense, whilst following Silver's lead, best she could. All whilst donning a big, crazed smile on her face. This were seriously fun!

(Briar)

Doubling back on their previous path would give them some respite as it seemed most of the Equestrians were coming from one direction and heading towards one destination: The front of the ship. So if they went towards the side and away from the front they would be able to avoid further encounters.

As they walked Aurum thought, "Kitty said something like that. That Mother was manipulating everyone to do what she wanted. But that's what rulers are supposed to do, right?"

(Last)

They were able to hold off the Equestrians from advancing on the Alicorn, but as a result the larger group pressed on down another path towards their original goal of the front of the ship.

The group of Equestrians was not infinite, and eventually the fighting would stop as those who had not moved on to head towards the front were lying unconscious or at least incapable of fighting.

Spark moved to follow the Equestrians headed towards the Front, "We have to stop them before they damage the Project."

Stripe would turn to head after the alicorn and Briar, "We have to protect the alicorn."

They both looked towards Last to see which way she would go.

all of them consciously heading towards Red. As they sped up in the air, they begun to spin, much like blades.

A number of Equestrians moved to block the attack, jumping to put themselves in the way. In their eyes, sacrificing themselves to protect their Princess was a noble price to pay.

Still though, at least one got past, and it was enough to disrupt Red's disguise. Revealing her to be a changeling all along. As the crowd slowly realized this and started to turn on her, hesitating as they considered everything they had done for her up until this point, Red only smiled, "You think a cheap shot like that would stop me? Look at all these ponies, so betrayed, so filled with hatred. So filled with my favorite..." She lifted one of the ponies who had jumped to protect her with her magic, still alive though bleeding from the spinning blade attack. She killed that pony and dropped them to the floor, "... murderous rage."

The crowd descended on her, turning their attention away from the Consul and Apollo, which opened Apollo to attack the Consul's forces directly, while also allowing the Consul to focus on Apollo. Despite this, Red held her own, drawing strength from the rage around her. Every pony she killed only furthering the rage around her, which in turn strengthened her.

Such was the sight when Silver, Blitz, and Plein got around the group, it sickened Silver to see, "We... we need something stronger. Not so much stronger like physically, but more effective." She turned to Plein.

"I'm not leaving you mom."

"I'm not asking you to leave. I need you to trust me." She pulled out a key and gave it to her, "In my office there's a box. Open it and bring back what's inside. Hurry."

Plein looked conflicted but nodded and ran back towards the office, shouting back, "If this is a trick I'll never forgive you."

Now that the Consul could focus on Apollo, Maud too could help more directly, convincing at least some of the Equestrians to fight on her side rather than trying to kill Red.

Unfortunately, another group of Equestrians who had not seen the reveal were coming up the stairs from the Pipeworks, joining the fight without a leader.

As they walked Aurum thought, "Kitty said something like that. That Mother was manipulating everyone to do what she wanted. But that's what rulers are supposed to do, right?"

Briar paused his thoughts, aware that his next words had to be delivered gently, lest they came off in a judgmental manner, that Aurum would not find agreeable.

"I mean no disrespect towards your mother, Aurum. Know that I truly mean this. As I do not know her, I could hardly tell how she were fully, as a pony. That said, I would have to disagree with her opinion on this matter, and side with your kitty.

A ruler is meant to be an inspiration, for their subjects. One to stand in front, and make the hard decisions, with the thought of what were best for them all, not merely personal gain. A leader who would lead their kin to a glorious, harmonious future, where all may prosper. I understand, that it is impossible to keep everyone happy, yet a prosperous future, should not happen, on behalf of using the populations as mere things. Especially not, if the only one who'd benefit, were the ruler themselves. At that point, there is little to differentiate the civilians from slaves.

I... Sadly know what that is like. When I were born, I were judged unclean. Tossed in a pit, and starved of everything needed, with no family but others like me, all yearning for fresh air. So that when they'd finally come for us, they knew we'd accept any torment, and any hardship, long as it meant we'd be free of the darkness.

To our ruler, it were just to do this. She told others, that we were granted mercy, by being allowed to work, and contribute to our society, and we'd be presented as smiling, and eager to work. Yet behind every smile, we yearned for life, like those judged above us had. But we were too broken, to try and rise up and demand it. Just as they intended. And when I did, I were cast out. Were it not for the mercy of a stranger, I would not have survived.

I am... Sorry, for the dim tone of this, but I tell you this, Aurum, because I wish you to know, that I know what I speak of, when I say that a good ruler, should not treat their own citizens, as disposable tools, to further their own goals. Because in the end, even the lowest born, are still living, breathing creatures, just wanting to live their lives. Of course one should contribute, but there is a difference between force, and encouragement. If those beneath knows the work they put in, are furthering lives for everyone, themselves included, they need not to be enslaved, or manipulated. They would gladly put in the work, and most be satisfied with their lot in life.

*sigh* Once more, I apologize for this, Aurum. I sometimes find myself getting very wordy, and sometimes, the meaning get diluted by this. What I mean in shorter terms, is simply that I believe that manipulating, and controlling others, are wrong, if you are a ruler. Those are the views of an owner, though I will reiterate, that I do not know your mother. I am not saying she is evil. She may merely have been misguided, and been to focused on her own goal, to realize the view of others. No creature is perfect after all."

He'd say this as he moved along slowly, leading her towards the place where he heard the least noise. It were best if they were not interrupted further. That were, if she accepted what he said, and understood that he did not attack her mother. Merely disagreed strongly with her ideal, as it were given, out of context.

Spark moved to follow the Equestrians headed towards the Front, "We have to stop them before they damage the Project."

Stripe would turn to head after the alicorn and Briar, "We have to protect the alicorn."

They both looked towards Last to see which way she would go.

Last would raise a hoof, and wipe some blood away from her forehead. Most of it being hers, barring some minor spatter of blood here and there from others. A few droplets at worst, and it wasn't as if she were covered. Just enough going, to see that things had been happening.

"We're continuing the assult. The plant has an eye on her, and we can't get through her shield anyway. We'll divert their attention, by fighting where it matters, and keep her safe that way. If one of you wanna branch off, your choice."

She did not like to leave the princess behind, but facts were facts. This wasn't the place for her, and the princess were safe now. She wouldn't be, if this whole thing exploded, so it were time to take the fight to the false prophet as it were, before her toys caused more trouble.

As for said false alicorn... They'd see how far she made Last go. Whatever the case, there were gonna be a lot more fighting, and she were already feeling sore all over. Just had to gnash her teeth, and fight through it. She could wait to feel bad, when the swelling would start getting notable enough, to stop her from moving.

"Stars and moon, grant me resolve."

She'd barely be whispering it, as she started to push forward, aimed at the frontline. The battle wasn't over yet, and she weren't letting it finish without her.

"We got this, just hurry!"

Blitz weren't sure exactly what were going on, but there were a changeling, a lot of really angry ponies... Blood... Brr, bad things.

As Plein would take off, Blitz would give her cover, then turn to the ground. Seemed like they needed something a little more... Experimental for this, than just a smoke bomb. Maybe... Ooooh, that might work.

"Got an idea! Gimme just a sec."

She'd float the bag of itching powder out of her bag, along with what seemed to be a small roll of tape, and a smoke bomb. She'd use her magic to crack open the smoke bomb, put most of the itching powder inside of it, and then mix it carefully, before taping up the whole thing. She'd also sneak the inside of a firecracker in there, as it needed a bit more strength now, with that amount of non-burning powder. It would however, also be rather unstable, and already be shaking a bit, with a slight stream of smoke going out the side. She had to be a little creative with some of her materials, so sometimes, things got a little special when they were mixed, okay?

Anyway, she had to throw it now! And so she did. Right over the head of the crowd, and the changeling. Unless it were intercepted, it would finally crack open, and just pour a mixture of itching powder and smoke downwards. Less intense than the gun she were using, due to a less concentrated amount, but it should help to pacify a bit. If not that, she still had her gun, and some ideas going on in her head, while she were looking around. Things were hectic, and chaotic, but one thing were sure: If someone knew how to make something explode, it'd be Blitz, and she were looking for potential things to use, to make that happen. Or something else. Just anything to try and stop all this bad, bad stuff.

Now it were just hoping that she could actually make a difference. If only she had more time, she could've made a sound wave contraption, to knock everyone around. Technically she still could, but she needed a watch, a round-ish metal casing, upwards three springs/eight bolts (depending on casing size), and a stick. She had the rest she needed, but she did not bring those.

Aurum was silent for a long while after Briar said his piece, it was evident that she was conflicted, and thinking deeply on what she had been told, and witnessed as of late.

They would eventually find themselves in a quiet secluded area, out on the access to one of the wings of the Project, where it was noticeably cooler than the rest of the pipeworks. She seemed comforted by the change in temperature. "I... I did a lot of things because Mother asked me to. Because I thought that I was supposed to, because she was the leader. There was... something... that I didn't want to do. It scared me... But I can't seem to remember what it was. But it's the last thing I remember before I got here."

She sat down on the cold metal floor. "How did I get here? Do you know?"

Stripe looked conflicted, but nodded, "I hope you're right." He fell in with Spark and Stripe to tail the fleeing Equestrians.

Those coming up the stairs found themselves trapped between Spiral's wall at the top and Last, Spark, and Stripe at the bottom, which served to double the resolve of those at either end of the group. Unicorns moving forward to try and force their way through the shield while the three guards worked to subdue as many as they could from the back half of the group. The fighting would be fiercer than ever, especially considering that those fighting the guards had the high ground.

Maud was marginally effective in convincing those Equestrians already in the fight to change their focus towards Apollo. Many did not believe her and continued fighting the Trojan forces.

Blitz's device did well to incapacitate many of the Equestrians fighting, but that only served to make Red more effective, as she proved unaffected by the itching powder. Still, the smoke filled the hallway, which slowed the pace of the fight considerably.

Apollo finally closed the distance between him and the Consul, now fighting the Consul's honor guards while the Consul cast spells in an effort to slow Apollo.

(The fight ends in my next post, get your last hits in.)
