resolved "Banished" Users

Are users who were banished before the forum update not banished anymore?

I just scrolled over a users name in my followers list who I know was banished and it said I could PM them.

 

Also, I could only seem to select email notifications or "Don't send notifications" when I tried to follow this topic.

Banned accounts being automatically moved to the Banished group was a custom feature that isn't supported anymore after the upgrade, and therefore, the Banished badge no longer exists.

The Banished group was a separate thing from the actual account ban, where the badge was mostly an optional visual sign. So, let's say that just the badges are gone, but the banned accounts remain banned.

What was said above is one of the reasons why the banished badges probably won't be implemented back. There's no really a reason to publicly mark users that way. There also were many threads created by red-named users, which didn't look nice.

As far as I know, at least with how it comes by default, you can normally send messages to banned users. They can receive these and will be able to read&reply once they come back for any reason (after a temporary ban, for example). I believe this is normal.

Did it mention your notification settings? You cannot use the first option if you haven't chosen how these notifications should be sent.

You should have a shortcut to relevant notification settings there;

Those users are still banned. The website’s update just removed the Banished badges underneath their profile photos/on their profiles. This is because only staff need to know who has been removed from here and we felt it was unnecessary to give them their own rank.
