Let's talk about it? Why do people hate it? Why they shouldn't do it? Why did they do it?

.....................................................................

What I hate about it is the toys are full of spoilers!

I don't mind them selling toys...

If hasbro request they put a castle or a school into the show that's fine too. It's the writers job to make it work.... And they were paid by hasbro. And they took the money.

And I also don't get why they don't like making it an advertisement for toys like what happened at season 8 ( the school)and I think season 3 ( alicornification)

I'm pretty much sure season 1 was already an advertisement for their toys....

How so?

Add a toy school in the cartoon...fine ...how the hay can that affect their writing:mlp_wat:....

Add a toy middle finger castle.... With weird crystal table..... Fine

Make twilight an alicorn..... That's kinda hard? But no matter what ,it's in the writers hands and fault if he can't adapt to both demands.... They signed up for it.... And they can leave if they can't handle it.... That's why she left.... And if no one bothered to take this roles hasbro might only make season 2 of mlp... But some idiot writer took the mantle....so it's not really hasbro's fault... It's the one who took it. And the one who bought the toys.

It's the fans fault....

Because they need stories to promote the toys. The School of Friendship affects the writing because they need to create new characters who will attend the school, The Student 6. The Castle of Friendship was a big part of the show's setting and plot exposition where the friendship problems were introduced. And "idiot writer"? I don't appreciate you insulting M.A. Larson, a man who did his best to make an episode surrounding such a major series-changing event work with only a 22 minute-runtime. Just because you have limitations with how much story you can write for such a plot in a short runtime doesn't mean you're stupid. If he didn't take the mantle, another writer would've. The fans are at fault? Plenty of fans don't even buy the toys

I get the frustration, you're tired of the blame game. But now you are becoming what you hate. Because you're tired of people blaming Hasbro, you're wrongfully blaming the writers and fans. You can dislike my comments all you want, but it's not going to change the fact that your logic is flawed and hypocritical. :maud:

Is it really that hard? Sure for us it is but they are professional Writers....

I think they can handle what hasbro request or demands to them...they are getting paid after all... Unless they are in properly paid.... Then that's a different issue

I do not understand the (what looks to me) almost obsessive avoidance of "spoliers".

As for Hasbro selling the toys - toys are their primary business, the show was there to promote the toys starting with G1. Sometimes they changed the show to be able to sell new toys (alicorn Twilight for example). G4 ended so G5 can have brand new toys. As long as the show is good, it's OK. If the show stops being good, I'll stop watching it.

EXACTLY. I seriously don't understand why this would be difficult for someone to understand...

MLP wouldn’t even exist if were not to promote their toy line. How far they’re willing to sacrifice writing quality for the sake of toy sales is what matters. When things get too commercial it gets annoying and takes away the integrity of the show. After a while, a show like MLP FiM exceeds mere promotion and becomes a great art form and revenue creator in its own right. In which case there should be equal consideration to the show as the toy line that inspired it. It seemed idiotic to promote the Equestria Girls just to boost a separate new toy line rather than focus on the long delayed MLP Movie. They finally got around to the MLP Movie but they didn’t strike while the iron was hot and lost opportunities for bigger box office. It doesn’t matter if the money comes from selling toys or theater tickets, as long as the profits come rolling in.

As far as spoilers, avoiding spoilers is largely the responsibility of the fans, especially when dealing with a show that’s all about promotion to begin with. So I don’t begrudge Hasbro advertising for new toy lines. But recognizing the value of the show as well as their toy lines are matters that deserve equal consideration and a balanced approach, which would serve both company and fans alike.
