Like a lot of people, I could not stop laughing when I saw the reveal. Not a bad cast at all, but it definitely feels surreal.

For real. Despite being officially announced a while ago, I was still skeptical, because It could be canceled without revealing much. Just like Zelda Netflix . But we’ll, being announced during last Nintendo Direct pretty much cemented it’s coming

It's made me more curious than anything. I mean, Spike from Wrecking Crew? Cranky Kong? I really want to see what they're going to do with this.

As long as the cast remain true to the spirit of the character I'll buy it even if they don't sound the same. There's a reason there's a trope called ability over appearance

Not a fan of Chris Pratt. Just not a good person at all. Also, I find it weird that Mario will have such a speaking role. I know he did back in the cartoons (which were in like the early to mid 90s? IDK) but those are considered memeworthy nowadays instead of being taken too seriously. We'll see.

A lot of this casting sounds like a hilariously bad shitpost like Chris Pratt and Seth Rogan as Mario and DK. That said Jack Black as Bowser is actually something I'm legitimately excited to see, that's just hilariously perfect casting

The usual about homophobia in a church. Conversion therapy takes a bigger level of being dicks. Problem is, that’s not really convincing he personally holds those beliefs. This is such a perfect example of "just throw a bunch of really famous people into a movie and everyone will watch it." As if the brand recognition of MARIO wasn't enough to sell it or something. Throw a ton of celebrities into the mix and get all the memey reactions, boom, movie will be a success. Quality doesn't matter. Of course, I am not saying the movie will be bad solely on this kind of obvious marketing gimmick because yes, many people in this are good actors, but good actors mean nothing if their given material is a dumpster fire. That's the last thing anyone even cares about anymore though. These days, people are so desperate for any kind of new entertainment high that they'll pay to see something regardless if it is good or atrociously awful. I feel like one of the only people who see's the very likely manipulation happening with how they are both doing the casting and how they revealed it. Clearly it is working because all of a sudden everyone conveniently ignores this being made by Illumination, who mostly makes generic, by the numbers animated films. I guess they are gonna love their massive paycheck for this because it is guaranteed now matter what they do. 

I miss the days when people had standards instead of just memes and ""reactions"".

Well, I need to hear Mario Pratt more in his element. Those handful of lines and grunts while surprised being in the Mushroom Kingdom isn’t enough  make me  take conclusions. Toad Michael Key is pretty fitting, so is Kamek Michael Richardson
