Equestria Girls doesn't really bother me and I really liked the second movie though it's been so long since I've seen it that I can't remember the name of the movie now but I liked it more than the first one. The first Equestria Girls movie just didn't hit the same for me for some reason though I haven't seen the other movies so I can't speak for those ones yet.

I think I might've mentioned this before on this site before, but I sincirely hope that Equestria Girls will not be in G5. From the start I've thought that EQG was a bad idea that really shouldn't have been made, or at least should've have been given the My Little Pony name (or any real association with the franchise). I think it was a waste of time and rescources that coudld've been used for the main series itself or at least something better than EQG. This same thing applies to G5. Hasbro is likely going to need all the rescources it can get to make this generation at least somewhat as successful as G4, and a reboot of EQG would likely take chunk of that away. Concidering that they didn't even give EQG a proper conclusion makes it seem like they stopped caring about it, so I am hopeful they won't bother with continuing it in G5. That being said, the little EQG easter eggs do concern me a little. I just really hope they don't force it into G5's canon, especially to the point of forcing the veiwers to actually watch the humanoid spinoff.

I'm glad that it was made. Equestria Girls is what got me into the fandom.

I'm really surprise at all the hate for it. It just seems silly to me. As I've said already in this topic, don't like than don't watch.

the reason why EQG was made is to protect FIM if you know what I mean.

FIM would be in pretty big trouble if hasbro didn't check the others in line. hence EQG was made ... to protect FIM.

Same, actually. If not Equestria Girls that was aired outside tv channels for children (iirc they aired that movie on HBO), I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here. It all started with the first movie that I happened to enjoy. Thanks to that, I've been slowly looking for more stuff, found out there was also Rainbow Rocks available at that time (that I watched and really liked too), with time ended up watching FiM.

While I really like the first two movies, I think the next ones took the science too far, so I found these to be rather bad.  I'm not a fan of sci-twi to begin with, there's a mess around her concept. Do I want EQG in G5 or more of it in general? I honestly don't know, I kinda lost interest in that because of the further movies, but I wouldn't mind if they made more I suppose. If that would be more about Sunset Shimmer, I would be interested, there's that potential they didn't fully utilize in EQG movies.

Either way, I still love the first two movies and would gladly rewatch these anytime. 

 

Regarding the hate for EQG, umm.. while I understand why its existence can be bothersome, I think some FiM episodes introduce real garbage and make it canon, so even if I disliked EQG as a whole, I'm not sure if I'd say it's the biggest issue here, if we were to be picky like this. EQG is what it is, but can be easily disregarded with "even if it's canon, it's an another world, I don't have to care about it" if it really is something one doesn't want to accept. With FIM though... No escape, and I dislike some canon mess, that FiM introduced especially in later seasons, which is partially the reason why I'm not hyped enough to continue watching it (I stopped after S7 and lost interest).

I agree with this.

Why take away resources from the main thing, which we all like, the ponies. Especially if something is already going well. Don't break something that works, and that is what Hasbro did with FIM and Season 3 (broke it in half, put all the resources on one single Equestria Girls movie).

 

I have nothing against Equestria Girls, other than it taking away from the main show, both talented people, and resources.

1) it’s been stated multiple times from the staff itself that contrary to popular belief, EQG never took resources from the main show. Had its own dedicated team of animators and everything, only thing it shared was a few writers and the music composers(even then it eventually got its own composers)

2) Put me in the camp that thinks the main show did things that were a lot more damaging than anything EQG ever did. As many problems I had with some of the later specials for the most part I still found most of EQG more watchable than the main show from S6 onwards. One thing I’ll always give EQG is that, for as much it was a non-finale, I actually watched EQG’s finale 

Now for the topic at hand, one of the biggest reasons EQG existed was because of Monster High, and since it’s supposed to be getting a revival and if it’s successful I can see Hasbro bringing back EQG if they can see the potential market. Aaaaaand that might it’s biggest hurdle, something EQG was famous(or infamous) for that set it apart from the main show(besides turning everyone into humans) was bringing the ponies into a modern world with modern tech, and well, all of that already exists in in G5, EQG would feel really redundant with very little setting it apart

EQG was incredibly successful and at certain points and regions even more so than the main show. If anything of all the factors that led to its cancellation only one factor can really be attributed to EQG itself(the rebooted toy line bombing, even then the Minis were still selling very well) and even then the leaks gave the impression that they were going to continue EQG after the main show was over. If anything, it’s cancellation can be attributed to the main show, a combination of things stemming from issues with the main show(both Guardians of Harmony bombing and the movie underperforming), as well as an incredibly soured relationship between Hasbro and DHX thanks to those leaks, which would probably explain why the final seasons felt so slapdashed and poor in both writing and animation.

And I don’t buy that Hasbro doesn’t care about EQG given its still getting merch after its cancellation(. It was still getting toys, Sunset was featured in the Pony Life toy line with original artwork and everything despite not appearing in the show itself, and the Kotobukiya figures draw heavily from EQG save for a few exceptions(Luna, Celestia and RD all having original designs), not to mention Sunset was also featured there. Given that last one isn’t exactly cheap to produce I’d say they still see a market for it

I don't think Equestria Girls would be as unique  in Generation 5 as it was in Generation 4 since the ponies of Generation 5 already use

modern technology like smartphones and things of that nature.

why are you guys focusing on technology and smartphones for EQG? when EQG was focusing on magic to begin with?

EQG was technology to magic... while gen 5 became technology NOW focusing back to magic. which is weird..,...

WHAT IF GEN 5 IS EQG! they became ponies in their world then saw different pony races and got divided!!!!!  AAAAAAA!!!

As long as EQG5 (heh) is its own thing and not trying to redo G4's EQG, I don't really care what they do with it.

I just really hope they give them better designs.
