A few days ago, Lauren Faust Tweeted about a dragon character created by her 6 year old daughter. Her name is Emziko, and she's apparently Spike's girlfriend.

Depends on the writer of later seasons after Lauren Faust left. But clearly, Faust is to be trusted here. This is canon.

Well, Rarity did say a few times in the show that there is a relationship between her and Spike. So, I guess she might also love Spike.

Lauren Faust left the show after season 2, so it's debatable how "official" her later ideas are. Maybe one could consider show canon (what ended up happening on the show itself) and Faust canon (the way she would have done it) two separate things.

Emziko is adorable, you can never have too many cute dragons. I'll still remain a Spabby supporter, though.

Yeah! It's true that the show can have two canons, where one is Lauren's canon and one is the canon of the writers who finished the show.

Hmmm, I guess this is what happens when many people work on one large project, and the person who created the project in the first place abandons the project way before it's finished. In this case, MLP is the project, and Lauren abandoned the project at season 2, letting others continue it. This split the canon into pieces.

Just like LittleshyFIM once said:

"The show's canon gets more and more fragmented, but Magical Mystery Cure was the tipping point."

So yeah, I like the idea of having multiple canons and having to choose which one to believe in!

I was expecting this to be talked about hour 1 after the tweet. Well, at least it didn't go under the radar completely, eh?

There's a bunch of fanart by now. I haven't seen if Faust has redrawn Emziko herself. Would be awesome if she did.

I absolutely love that Spike has a canon girlfriend now by Lauren Faust's words herself! I've never liked RariSpike, considering how icky it feels [she's an adult and he's a kid], and the other ships that would be okay in my eyes I just never really got into. But SpiZiko? YES, I shall accept this as my first and [probably] only Spike ship I'll actually ship and like.
