*Sigh* I need to get Windows 8 pronto!

I love Win 8, but it's pretty quirky. However, I don't have any touchscreens in my house. I'm using the old school keyboard and mouse only. I wish my laptop had a touchscreen...But with all the new quirks, it's weird to figure it out lol

I guess it may need some getting use to though ^^ The design and interface seems like such a big leap from the traditional interface. I was using my friends laptop with Windows 8 and I was raging soooo badly xD But Windows 8 looks so purty wub.png

I'll give it that. It looks amazing. :D Fabulous, even! But what killed me was the corners! I have a terrible habit of slamming my mouse to the upper left corner to go to the first tab in Chrome. Well it would switch apps on me! I was about ready to rage on Microsoft until I found this thing called Start is Back. It make Win 8 work pretty much exactly like Win 7 while keeping the beauty of Win 8. It's pretty much the best of both worlds :D

Okay so I already posted my Windows 8 laptop. Here's the desktop on my Ubuntu Laptop.

There really isn't anything going on at all on this thing. I don't think I've used it in a good couple of months.

tlvTErr.png

Specs:

HP Pavilion DV5-2077CL (2009 model)

Ubuntu 13.10

AMD Phenom II N620 Dual Core processor. 2.8 GHz

4 GB of RAM

Western Digital Scorpio Black 320 GB 7200 RPM hard disk

There's a reason I have Ubuntu on this. It came with a Seagate 500 GB hard disk, but that failed and I lost everything. My Windows product key had faded from the sticker and so I couldn't get it back. I also lost my MS Office and a whole bunch of other stuff. To get it back to where it was, I would've been out over $500. I just decided to buy a new laptop (which is my other desktop screenshot on this thread found here)  since I was already going to be out that much.

But all the other parts in the laptop were still golden. So I picked up a 320 GB hard drive for the laptop for $40 and stuck Ubuntu on it. It used to be my old school laptop, but since MS Office is incompatible with Ubuntu, I just use it for surfing the web.

At one point I had completely disassembled this laptop. It was in about 40 parts in a shoebox for about 3 months or so. I did that for two reasons. 1. I was kinda bored and it was broken anyway and 2. I kinda started to get it in mind that I wanted to fix it so I blew the dust out of the case and put new thermal paste on the processor.

I'm amazed at how tough this laptop has been. Especially for a 4 year old HP! It just refuses to die lol

My gaming rig desktop will come later...I've got some serious cleaning up to do on that dry.png

This is my android phone wallpaper

Omigosh! Dashie looks so....AHHH I just wanna give her a hug!

Finally! I had to go back and clean the crap on my desktop desktop up, but here it is. My third and final desktop.

This computer is my baby. It's also the newest one I have. I built this rig in February and March this year. As far as a computer goes in my apartment, this is the cat's pajamas smile.png

So here's one screenshot of my desktop with the charms and fences showing

And here's one with the fences hidden and the charms menu gone for the cleaner look smile.png

So this started as a project I initiated after my old laptop broke down on me. I wanted something stationary that wouldn't break down from being carried everywhere after two years. So I sold everything I wasn't using anymore and rounded up some cash by robbing banks and dealing drugs working hard and cutting my budget in areas where I could afford to cut back.

I had never built a computer before so I did a lot of homework. I decided I was going to do it when I saw one of my friends was working on a rig. He had been at it for the last 2 years or so and STILL had not finished it. He was the only one of my friends who was working on one. So sometime around last November, I decided that I was going to do what he couldn't finish. I would build my own PC.

And that's what I did. I just sold all my old junk on eBay and saved other money on the side until I had enough parts accumulated to built it.

Now the screenshots are a little weird so let me explain that. Dual monitors. I have an Acer 23 inch 1920 × 1080 display and a Dell 17 inch 1440 × 900 display. I rigged the Dell monitor in the back to stand in portrait mode while I left the Acer in landscape. It's extremely useful having a portrait monitor because it makes it so much easier to write papers because I can see the paper a whole page at a time. It's useful for GIMP because I can be working on the image on my main monitor while I keep all the tools in the second display. It's also incredibly helpful because I can be watching a video in my main display and writing my paper in the other because landscape is natural for video and portrait is natural for report writing.

This workstation is my baby. I have invested the most time, energy, and money into this machine. I hope that I can still be running this thing in 10 years smile.png

Specs:

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (it was $40 when I got it. Still cheaper than Windows 7 at the time)

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Vishera; Six Core; 3.5 GHz (Possible to make it hit 4.1 GHz but I don't OC)

RAM: 4 GB 1600 MHz (I plan on upgrading to 8 GB at some point in time but 4 has been more than plenty for now)

GPU: Sapphire 100358L. 1 GB of 128 bit GDDR5 memory

Power Supply: Corsair TX-650. 650 watts

Boot drive: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128 GB Solid State

Hard drives: 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black and a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda

It started off a lot more humble than this but over time I've made quite a few upgrades lol, I actually only started off with a 320 GB laptop drive and the Dell screen that's now in portrait and I used an iHome for sound lol It didn't even have a DVD drive when I finished it. Now I've got 5.1 surround, Blu-Ray playback, wireless inputs, WiFi, and a ton of other things I've dumped way too much money into :3

It's a good thing that I've finally got everything I could want in this thing. The only upgrade left to make is to add another 4 gigs of RAM and I'm set smile.png

"It must really be a lonelier journey than anyone could imagine. Cutting through absolute darkness, encountering nothing but the occasional hydrogen atom. Flying blindly into the abyss, believing therein lie the answers to the mysteries of the universe."

I made both of these :)

I watched this series (Sword Art Online) start to finish in 2 days last weekend, and because I got so into the show, I thought it was only appropriate to make a background featuring the main character, Kirigaya Kazuto (Kirito). I personally like it a lot. I was planning on making one of Asuna to accompany it, but I haven't found a suitable render yet. One is with the logo, one is without.

So, I got a recent obsession with "N" from the "Pokemon Franchise", and....

It's extremely basic looking but I think it gets the job done.

I thought I had a screenshot of my Ubuntu computer, but I don't, so I screenshot my Lubuntu computer. My wallpaper is my Twitter background. A lot of desktop icons until I get Ubuntu again! laugh.png
