Your picking style.... It is pretty bad. From my experience in guitars, its always better to use the wrist, rather your whole arm. I always think about this when talking about picking style:

With the arm, sure you can get more power, but the accuracy is lessened. Oh and I couldn't tell if you were doing this, but there is another thing: always make sure your thumb is flat against the neck, and not really visible if you look at the fretboard from the front. In that video, Paul Gilbert is mostly doing it the correct way, but he sometimes messes up, too. AND ONE LAST THING. Your playing posture is kind of bad. Try to sit up straighter. I know that you have to look at the frets, but you shouldn't be sitting like that when playing.

Reason I sit like that is because I find it comfy when playing the guitar, but I'll try keep it in mind
