I don’t have a cover on mine. I like the idea of the added comfort and prettiness but I also like to know how clean the seat is. I have a plain old white wooden toilet seat with no embellishments.

A carpet cover does no justice.

Mine doesn't have one, nor does it need one. They probably accumulate lots of germs and nasty stuff.
