Is it okay to change things up

So as you mayyou may not know I'm drawing ponies for my friends because I'm the pony artist of the group 😅. But some of my friends have very striking and bold colors for their ponies that clash, muddy, or just make it hard to have a place that catches the eye. It's like an oc that you can't focus on or see any detail because the colors like I said clash, muddy, or blend, or just don't fit together well. My question is is it okay to ask them about me maybe changing a shade or two of some colors so their pony does stand out more?

Yes, it's totally okay to play with colors. Especially if you do it for free. I guess the most polite way to do it is to advice them which color could be used better and why.

There is nothing wrong with changing things up. If you want to change something up, then go with it.

Haha, I see this was 5 months ago but even still, If it isn't too much workload perhaps making a few examples, what they want and some you've cooked up to offer as comparisons/alternative suggestions.
