pony life was not that bad

i like mlp as much as you guys. i hate when shows get rebooted into a lazier, more kid friendly cheap franchise like teen titans go 

but honestly i dont think pony life was THAT bad.  yeah bad animation and ruined the characters but i genuinely dont know. toy wise, the ponies are creepy af (eyes) and they did the same with g3.5, standing up clothes and such. horrifying below

I figure a lot of people just didn't care for it on principle. Not hard to imagine some fans seeing Pony Life dropping right after Friendship is Magic ended and thinking "they have the time and resources to make more G4 stuff and they went with this? you couldn't just... make another Rainbow Roadtrip-type special or two? or even just a bunch of shorts? we're doing this?"

I've only seen a few episodes of it, and that was years ago back when they were new, but I remember it being... fine? It wasn't offensive, at least. I think if it was truly that bad you'd see more people actively dunking on it, but in my experience most people never mention Pony Life at all. This subforum has the most discussion on it I've personally ever seen and it's not even close lmao

I liked it quite a bit actually. In fact it help bring back a lot of my love for FiM after being so down on the last few seasons of the show

one of the only reasons i forgive the reboot is how cute celestia is 

really sucks she was in one episode though.. as far as i know. luna was never in the show itself too

Weirdly, Nightmare Moon was shown on a stained glass window in one of the episodes, but the only Luna we got was merch

I get she was a part of G4, but why make merch of a character that wasn't even in the show? I really wish they gave us something in Pony Life with best princess

Both because it brought things back down to the simplicity of the earlier seasons rather than being high off its own grandeur like the main show in the latter half was falling into, which is ironic because PL I felt did ongoing stories and arcs far better than the main show. Also it feels far less cynical towards its characters than the show did by that point imo. While its not perfect, some characters do feel off, Rarity’s dramatic flair is overblown in PL and Fluttershy feels like a completely different character, but neither of those feel as callous as the writing towards, say, S6 Rainbow Dash where it felt like the writers actively disliked her. On that tangent RD and especially AJ felt far more welcomed in Pony Life imo than in the show’s later years

you’re right about that. i did like the earlier seasons of fim because of how simple it was and the later ones were too much.

i felt like the pillar of old equestria was just for the sake of having a deeper plot and a copy of the mane six- same applies to the young six.

i also think starswirl would have been better off as a legend than an actual character because, the past is in the past yknow   thanks for responding!

at least they didnt get a chance to butcher her character. i feel with luna, she’s a really complex and deep character (even if celestia’s better in my opinion) and they’d completely miss the point with her. maybe it’d be best lol 

i mean, look at what they did to celestia; cute but what?

Agreed, it wasn't that bad. I'm not with the part of the fandom that's super critical of MLP and has pressing demands for what it "needs to be". I just like to enjoy what we get from it so long as the content we get is fun.

Ah, so it was kind of an appreciable back-to-basics type beat after the endlessly rising stakes and expanding scope of the later seasons. The earlier seasons of FiM really do have this sort of lighter-hearted, simpler, sillier sincerity to them that feels increasingly absent by the end of the series, so I can definitely see PL being something of a breath of fresh air in that way. Some of the characters feeling off in PL was really my big sticking point from the few episodes I watched, but that was back when it was new and those differences were especially stark and hard to overlook for me. If I were to watch it now, I think I'd be able to get past that just fine!

I really liked Pony Life - much more than I expected to. It was really funny and inventive at times but I do seem to recall that the earlier episodes in season 1 were the best ones and there was a noticeable quality dip in the second half of the season. I'm really going to have to get round to rewatching the whole thing sometime.

Pony Life real helped me accept the end of Generation 4. And I love so much Irish pony, oh they are made in Ireland the same like me.

After years I keep draw PonyLife arts with my favorite pony - Potion Nova she is amazing potion maker and so mysterious character. 

I'd like to see other stories about her life, we almost don't know nothing about Nova
