I went with fire bender because I’d like to start fires. Although Smokey the Bear may not like me very much

Given the pros and cons of each style:  Earth  :orly:

I think earth is when it comes to just having the less weakness is earth.

really like this questions!! :D

So, I never got around to watching the series but my lovely friend @Sir Hugsalot has been trying to get me into it since forever! My actual element is water but I have always been attracted to air. The light-hearted, fluffy, no heavy weight manner in which the air element just flies off into the sunset to enjoy things. I think airbender would be quite enjoyable for me.

I don't know ... I guess perhaps Earth?

Sorry, this is something I've never seen and am not totally familiar with, though I have heard about it.

Settling on Earth, but more-so its advanced form; lava bending.  2 known characters Ghazan (antagonist) and Bolin (protagonist) used it for many situations in combat.  Yet I wonder if small rocks can be lava bent to shape as arrowhead, spear or needle projectiles to cripple strong doors or used to connect on impact against groups of enemies:fiery:

Fire. I'm not turning down the opportunity to turn myself into the Human Torch

I’d be a fire bender. I like fire; it’s pretty and nothing really beats it. I used to be a firebug when I was little and I guess it never went away 100%. I guess world-destroying habits die hard. :manic-laughter:

It's really hard to decide! Can't I just be the avatar?  If not I guess water? But I'd probably change my mind.

I think I remember you hadn't seen the show. Have you watched it yet?

@Fluttershutter I did try watching a few of the animated episodes and they seemed pretty much the same as the 2010 movie, which everyone hated for some reason. I loved the movie, and hated the 2024 live action series, but the animated series wasn’t hugely different from either in terms of story. I liked the old show better than the 2024 live-action series, but that’s more a matter of casting and direction than story. What surprises me is the fact that Airbender fans LOVE the animated series but are absolutely vitriolic about the M. Night Shyamalan movie, although there are no fundamental differences that I’m seeing. Maybe I need to watch more of the old show, but I think the differences are something for die-hard fans to discern rather than the casual viewer.

I didn't watch the live action series and it's a long time since I saw the movie but as I recall the story was pretty similar but it just abruptly ended. There's a lot more story in the cartoon.

People hated the movie for a lot of reasons. Katara and Sokka were terribly cast, I think Aang was okay and don't remember much about the other characters. And after great animation CGI looks really unimpressive. Other things I've forgotten, I'm sure.

You should watch The Last Airbender and Korra before Seven Havens comes out. ^_^

I would have loved to see the planned sequels to the movie; it never got to follow through with the broader scope of the whole story.

As for the other stuff, I’m happy to give them a chance because I really like the setting and general theme.

Water is what I would want to bend, because I'd argue it's the most versatile. You can effectively shape it to whatever you need with enough patience, practice, and training. Need a knife? Slice away. Forgot your work keys? Shape and shift away. Need to get somewhere on foot faster? Glide atop some water and pull it back in from behind. It's really a matter of imagination.

Spoiler

Not to get too deep into it, but since frozen water can be melted, theoretically you should be able to heat water as well. You could cook an awful lot, or make getaways in a cloud of mist.

A big one with water as well, is I could near instantly dry off from a shower by pulling all of the water off myself.

And because of that ability as well, it'd would be super useful in my line of work where I have to frequently restraint and clean up after animals. Hold them in place with water, and swoosh up messes as I go. Earth and Air could potentially be used for holding as well. Fire's the only  one that's an absolute nono, and with my luck that's probably what I'd end up with. :lie:

But for the sake of this topic, I'm picking water.

I also live in the Pacific Northwest, so rain is kind of our thing.
