thoughts on alicorn ocs?

wondering what ppl's thoughts on alicorn ocs are here. i remember ppl used to hate them basically just for existing because of being mary sues or whatever but i wonder if times have changed?

(note: talking abt alicorns just in general here, not specifically the obvious mary sue "i'm the princess of the universe and im more powerful than everyone else combined" types made by 9 year olds who don't know better)

I’m still not much a fan of fan made alicorns whenever tied into the rest of the MLP universe but in a vacuum I like some I have seen when it comes to their design or unique traits.

Tbh I don’t really care that much what people do with their OCs. If someone wants to make their OC high lord of the universe I don’t really care as it doesn’t affect me lol. Thats just me though

If they have a really good reason to be an Alicorn, than it's ok. Like being born into a royal family or earning their place the way Twilight did sort of thing.

It's the huge change in narrative that almost always comes with it that irks me. Ignoring the balances of power and being best friends with the most famous group of ponies.

I think Alicorn OCs can work if they're done well.
