A voice that inspired... not many, apparently.

I don't get it, she's one of the few background characters that talks, yet she's doomed to obscurity.

This fandom is silly sometimes, I think.

I like her color scheme and name a lot but that's about it. If you want a more obscure pony look at Oakey Doke I think her design is awesome!

Maybe her voice isn't beautiful or elegant, but that's exactly why I love her. She's like, kinda awkward, and doesn't really know what to say in social situations, she has a passionate hobby (gardening, it would appear) (passionate, judging by the fact she didn't even consider giving Spike any, and watch her frown when spike mentions them, how she tips her head back, taken aback, thinking "not the flowers!"), and she's very gentle and kind.

 

It's just the awkward part where she's always like "uh..." before she speaks, or how she studders with every line: "H-happy Birthday, Spike!" and "I-I don't have anything.", while keeping a kind smile. And it looks like she's kinda uncomfortable in social situations, her social ineptness further illustrated by the twitch of the eye as she says "h-happy Birthday" (which is usually only drawn to show some level of insanity, like with Chrysalis in the "This Day" aria, so perhaps she has some sort of social mental condition?) and at 8:16 when she says "no problem", and her inability to understand Spike's grabbing motions, but rather walks on totally oblivious to the overstated/obvious body language. This would mean social interactions are difficult for her, which leads to a very hard, tiring, and especially lonely life, so she resorts to her passion of gardening for comfort. Much like Fluttershy that goes to gentle animals, Junebug is even gentler: she likes plants.

 

You could say maybe she's going to eat them, but since they were in such large quantity, and potted in dirt to keep them healthy, I would consider that very unlikely. She lives in a rather large town where a food-garden would be wholly unnecessary, so I would say it's far more likely she's gardening than taking dinner home, especially with her defensive reaction towards them when Spike asks.

Anyways, I totally sympathize with her. I'm not like that at all, but I feel that way a lot, and it's really adorable and I kinda feel sorry for her. It's very lonely to be awkward like that. I'm totally outgoing and awesome around my church friends, but high school was a whole different story (I'm just very glad it's over!)

I wanted to resurrect this old thread because I am also a Junebug fan.  I recently suggested to Ponyhoof that they add her to their next update.  They replied that they would keep her in mind, but that she was not one that is often suggested.  I don't understand why Junebug doesn't get more love.  Unlike some fan favorites, such as Octavia, she has actually had a speaking part.  I love her design and her voice and the personality she demonstrated in her one short appearance. 

 

I wish we could see more of her.  And I mean that in two ways.  One - that she would have more lines on the show.  Two - that we could see what her Cutie Mark looks like.

I always wondered why the Bronies never took Junebug and ran with her.... I guess it's just a "Brony thing" to take total background ponies who almost never speak, name them, and apply a personality to them. I guess there wasn't that kind of freedom with Junebug.

 

However, I like Junebug. She is very cute and her name is a lot of fun to say.

There's two that I really like, the first one being Apple Fritter.  I love her colors, design, and finally, she's a member of the Apple family, possibly one of my favorite TV families of all time.  She just stood out to me for some reason, I have no idea why.  Also, she was the 2nd member of the Apple family introduced in the series, after Applejack.

Second, we have Noi, a background filly that has had speaking parts in the show before, two of them being in Luna Eclipsed.  Everything about her is just adorable, just look at her and try not to have a heart attack.

I hadn't even noticed her before! She looks like she could be Derpy's friend... I doubt they'll take a background character like her back, but there's always hope!
