Living in Equestria has its benefits.

I was thinking about cutie marks the other day and how it's on their flank and stuff.

Have you ever caught yourself checking out someone's butt before? I'll be honest, I do it all the time unintentionally (sorry if TMI) but I'm getting better at resisting.

Anyways, in Equestria, if you were checking out somepony's flank, you would always have the perfect excuse if they caught you checking them out! "I was just looking at your cutie mark!" They might be suspicious at first but then you could ask a follow up question about how they got it.

What other benefits are there in Equestria?

Well a benefit of living in Equestria is the lack of any political unrest. The world of Equestria works so well because it is a perfect communist state: in the sense that everyone's career is picked out for them at an early age

Having all those cutiemarks, it's a lot harder to be put into "boxes" Like the real-world community. It's easier to see we are all unique, rather than being put together with everyone who just shares one thing with you or something.

Though perhaps that's just part of the fact that we usually see Ponyville, which isn't a bustling city like Manehattan. Which helps, since in small communities it's a lot easier to know everyone :P

And perhaps It's not as much like how I envision it now. Like, how many different cutiemarks are there? If you have an apple, wouldn't you just get labelled as one of those apples? BUT... your cutiemark is part of who you really are, so that might actually be good no?!

Seems to be a lot better then being judged just by what you wear or look like, something that is Not bound to your own personality. As in stereotypes.

I guess Equestria also shares it bit of stereotypes, so I'd need to look at cutiemarks as an Addition to life (when comparing with our world). It's simply something we don't have an equivalent of.

If you're a unicorn and you need to get out of harms way, you can just teleport, and if you're a pegasus, you can fly away. If you're an earth pony, well, you're just SOL. :P

The Heck- Equestria is a Capitalist society, not a communist one. Their careers arn't 'picked' for them, they just have little cutie marks saying what their talent is. Pinkie Pie's is throwing parties and making ponies smile, yet she's a Baker. Cutie Marks don't determine your job, they just guide you to areas you might be interested in.

Besides, the Flim Flam episode is Capitalism at it's finesthour.

Also Equestria has a ton of Political unrest. Just look at all it's coups.

Anyway, another benefit would be that space travel would be cheap, just stage a coup, or spill soda on the royal carpets, or something.

Go a step beyond politics. No pollution in comparison to us, no wars in comparison to us, and an all around more mature society in comparison to us.
