  1. MLP Voice actor panels are always great *continues laughing*

  2. Thanks,I honestly thought for myself it also took longer, but I don't think the math fails here, recording at 20x speed, 14:20 min of footage, 14 min times 20 is already 280 min or 4.6+ hour Anyhow, to answer your question (which is not noobish, but a proper question) I used Photoshop CS5.1 To any pony out there, feel free to ask questions, just a friendly reminder
  3. Was working on an update already and also noticed some of the same things.Especially now looking back at my new update, the Behemoth body to leg part gives of an entirely wrong impression I really have to fix that. Including his head, I noticed I've been forgetting a lot of the Fins the changeling have behind their ears. And I also felt like Chrysalis was a bit too heavy, something with the shape of her front body, combined with the position of the hair and head, I'll definitely work on her some more. I've build her proportions heavier than the show. Might end up slicing her in pieces and stitching her back together. Breaking up the big blob of changelings in the image with something like a banner or more flying changelings or something could be a good idea too yes. Trying to get all those changelings right, and I'm still only working on those close by Update 1 (WIP 4): Update 2: [WIP 5 + 6] Alright, I thought I'd update my progress again since I've added colours and revisited just about every changeling I've had. Might have to do a second run on them though. Tried to fix some thing, Like Chrysalis her big head Still playing around with the colours though, their colour scheme isn't really that... colourful I'm glad that the main focus, Chrysalis has the hair that she does, gives me something more to work with. It was great fun doing those distant changeling, foggy shadowy figures, trying to get the basic elements that make them recognizable as changeling. Which I hope worked out! Though fairly rough yes PS: With the way I'm creating things lately... I feel like I should have a blog? WIP 6: WIP 5: Update 3: Final + Time lapse Al right, the final stretch for this one. *calculates total time spent* .... Waaa... just 4,8 hours? Ok... it does show I guess Soo, sooo many changelings. Final: Time Lapse: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVQIC5VIN5A&hd=1
  4. Applejack mmmm, Nah! Hehe, i sure do look funny Wooo wooo woo Ok Ready, 1... 2... 3... !!! Oooooohhoohooh Can't hear ya, I'm asleep. Aaah, shoo Aaah shoo Bloomberg is a big and strong Appletree, yes he is!, koochi koochi ku ku ku My sister is speaking in Fancy! I didn't learn anything! And things like putting her hat back on during the Canterlot Wedding Ok, also because I like Applejack
  5. I'd have to say Luna, because of Luna Eclipsed episode. So sad, so cute, so awesome. Her personality is great Trying to fit in, the way she talks Or maybe it's because I am a Night person... living in the dark. Or it was Applejack in that episode... I'm derailing here, So choose a royalty you say? Luna it is.
  6. Wait... I don't remember that notification icon being a pony?

  7. 1. Applejack, Because if she does break... I want to be there, so she can break me twice. 2. Applejack, Because I'd like to share a laugh with my favourite Apple. Spewing Applejuice together. 3. Draw her like one of them French girls... or something and put it in the hidden section of my account. 4. Buy All her Apples! and once I bought all of them, tell her I want to buy more so I have to visit her at Sweet Apple Acres for more! Yes... yes... the masterplan should work, it has to. 5. Applejack, she makes best everything in the kitchen. Especially if I get to eat them to make her happy some pony likes her cooking 6. Pinkie, she wants everyone to smile, and if I'm going to have a party, every pony should smile, and I think Pinkie can take care of that. 7. Ask her where Applejack is. 8. Ask her where Applejack is. 9. Ask her the way to Sweet Apple Acres and where Applejack is... to buy Apples of course, yes yes... maybe.... Perhaps she'll personally show me?! I want my Apple!
  8. My previous work Trix Unleashed was a rather fast one, though useful for sure. But the one I think set the bar for me was First Contact War, Griffon So I'll have something to aim for because the reaction were so positive This time changelings were swarming my head, and I was curious to see how much they differ from normal Ponies. Also adding in a creation of my own A lot more static image but the amount of characters have been doubled! (sorry!) So many changeling already... and all with horns and wings and holes and... things like transparency in the wings They're an interesting bunch though. And I think definitely worth looking at for other works ... not that there's not plenty of options already within MLP alone... I am recording this one (20x speed), so I'll have a timelapse video to accompany it in the end. Edit: I noticed the changelings have only been changing into somepony of their own size. So I imagined what it would take to have one change into a bigger creature, like a Manticore! Update list: Update 1: WIP 4 Update 2: WIP 5 + 6 Update 3: Final + Time lapse (Current) Final: WIP 6: WIP 5: WIP 4: WIP 3: WIP 2: WIP 1: Time Lapse: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVQIC5VIN5A&hd=1
  9. This is quite a quick one, wanted to try out making a timelapse video, which is incoming once done on Youtube. Trixie unleashing her great and powerfull trix. Or someone else doing so with her. Approx 3 hour work, and fairly experimental, since I'm not used to these kind of light sources But, got to start learning somewhere right? All that puts it under my previous work, but I had fun and I'm curious for the timelapse. Again also got a WIP image for this.
  10. Oh gawd, I made the frontpage on EQD Drawfriend stuff #532 http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/08/drawfriend-stuff-532.html?

    1. Jokuc

      Jokuc

      Thats awesome dude!

  11. Thanks for the extra watch, It's been booming suddenly since I posted this one on DA lol. Same for my page views Also put out a submit to EqD just in case they agree with you No message back though, but also no new drawfriend yet as of now Thanks, glad to hear the tension carries over My best guess? Brony, being a Brony, yes, Ponies always are the answer, yes yes that must be it Brony on, in the awesome community. Makes me feel like I can at least give something back to the community Edit: Oh gawd Frontpage on EQD?! So... awesome... that's, I don't even... so that's why I didn't get a mail back
  12. Brony community... so Awesome!

  13. Thank you, I'm quite happy with the result. It was quite a hassle at times to get things right, changing a bunch of things, leaving plenty things out (like about almost everything behind Luna ) But it was fun, makes it all good. It can be weird/hard working in grayscale, I guess it kind of depends on what you're used to, some people prefer working directly with colour. If you can't find any tutorial specific on grayscale, I think lighting tutorials are a good alternative. Or you can try putting different artworks you like into black&white through Photoshop too see how they look like that and study those. as for the Topics, my initial thought was just threads like these filled with WIPs for the specific work/project. I actually didn't think of general thread with best works that represent me, until you mentioned it Might have to think about that one. I was actually just trying to recall how long it took. Looking at my updates here it were 4 different sessions, which I think took roughly 3-5 hours each. So from start to finish (having it uploaded) roughly between 13 and 18 hours as for my methods, I only use the basic brush. Only changing the size and hardness. Hard erasor for full erasing and masks to partially softly erase specific layers/parts In the final stretch I usually also play around with different layer settings, like overlay, or colour burn, combined with masks and opacity. playing around with those to make those final adjustments. That's basically what I use the most, or at least consistently most of the time. Few times I also change more brush settings, like a scatter.
  14. It is indeed... very small Especially looking at the part of the island the map covers up... it would mean Equestria is about 400m (~1300 feet) wide I don't think we could properly fit just Ponyville on there. Not to mention where all the other parts should go but ok... I guess Pony Logic seems like the most logical way to go here Ponies on Pony Island running out of room, what to do? just hit the scaling button and enlarge your island eh
  15. I think these are the ones 49.227828,-94.584825 As for moving there... to the ponymobile! ... now how long till some bronies gather up and buy that island to make it a real-life Equestria?
  16. Soooo.... how about this apple? Or well... map What do you all think, just found out about this image. (and it isn't on these forums yet right?) Intended? Just a coincidence? Quite funny non-the-less and a good find for the person who did. Since the island is actually called Pony Island I think they meant to do it Though not 100% accurately. I just checked it on Google and there are quite some differences in the coastline, but plenty of similarities as well, which also fit together at the same scale quite nicely The original map isn't too scale anyway, but still, to what extent? Time to over analyse I guess?!
  17. Yea, was already having in mind finishing this off. At some point I just have to stop any further work and apply the finishing touches. especially with this scale, I could go on forever Finishing up the last things before uploading as I type this. Putting together the WIPs for upload on DA as well. Grimdark should be interesting Update 3 (Final): Al right, calling it final, put my finishing touches on it, calling it done, hope you all enjoy Also put together all the WIPs Was a great experience, good fun, quite different than my previous works. Final: WIP:
  18. I'm sad for Luna, she deserves to be in the spotlight more often. I might have to at least try something like that with her. Maybe give her area in the piece more of her colours, so she has more to be the brightest of instead of being brighter than Celestia with her white coat and giant colourful mane I think it's awesome you're going to give it a go! Don't worry too much if it doesn't end up like these, we all have to start somewhere My (serious) start has been years ago, it came down to time and effort, and of course the occasional help and guidance from others Especially if it's not for a job, I find it more important to have fun and enjoy It's been great to rediscover how much fun these kind of paintings can be, It's been a while since I done anything similar. I'm happy with how it turned out so far.
  19. Yea, was already thinking of other ways to show the wings. She's standing just slightly high to not have them show.Or I should move her down and hide them behind Luna But I added some smaller ones in this update Ps: Good luck and have fun with photoshop Update 2 (WIP 5): Small update, Ok so was about to post, but then went back and spent more time then I expected (I'll include that what I was originally going to post) So I changed the overall values... again, still used the old colours though, I'll probably go about adjusting them instead of replacing. Also just cleaned up and tried to redefine the Griffons. Worked out the griffons more up to par with the Pony. Made the sky a bit darker outside the lightsource, very rough, but wanted to make Celestia pop out a bit more by increasing her contrast with the rest. Especially compared to her Sister Luna, sitting there with brightness in the darkness. It's all getting bigger than expected but ok, I guess that's what you get for trying out things differently (I just noticed I mis one of the guard's ear) WIP4.5: WIP 5:
  20. I guess Trixie got/gets lured into the dark side with muffins... wait what , no I meant great and powerful magic Like well, how could she resist becoming what she always claims to be right?
  21. Considering Ponies (Pegasi) control the weather, that image of the Crystal empire could still be up north. If they also have that ability that is. And if the image is legit Of course there are those regions where the weather still controls it self, so it could go either way
  22. Yay!, Another Applejack fan Thank youAlways nice to see more ponies with her as Favourite I try to do my best for Applejack, gathering more followers for her And no, sorry I don't take any requests
  23. Kill your darlings

  24. Colour theory is a hard thing to master, same goes for lighting, though they tend to go hand in hand, especially with these kind of things. Update: Started working with colours and as I kind of expected, I wasn't happy with the values/lightness of it. I branched off in different directions. #1 being my previous WIP with just the color layer on top of it... Then I took that into #2 where I turned up the contrast/darkness. Then it somewhat branched of in #3 and #4, trying out different things. And oh Luna... why you have such hard colour scheme for this, I still like you though. But at the moment I ended up with WIP 4 here. Colour is just a try though, I'll probably head back into B&W, apply what I learned to the rest of the image. Using the correct lightness on the rest. Like how Luna's necklace is dark. And I'd probably have to redo a lot of the general lighting colour anyway. Also might have noticed how I removed the princesses wings, it detracted too much from the focus. Especially Celestia's wing, because now I have a more solid and beautiful triangle composition and that triangle was actually how I started the entire piece... WIP 3.5: WIP 4:
  25. Thanks! I keep hearing things about details And I'm always seeking to explore colours, so I'm always glad to hear it turns out ok I hope it's a result of looking for my own style as well.
