movies/tv I Love Michael Bay and his movies. (Action asplosian apologia)

Yeah I know they are brainless, stupid, immature Shlock actionfests.. But that's why I love them. I feel that you should take entertainment for what it is. Just relax and try to enjoy.

They aren't high art, but they aren't meant to be. There's something that's just plain fun about productions that's greatest priority is "Let's blow stuff up and make something kickass!". A very primal pleasure.

It's almost like people think Michael Bay sees himself a genius. He knows he's a guy who makes dumb fun action movies. In the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen bonus features he pretty much admitted his failures and explained the whole situation of how it ended up with as many missteps as it did. He comes across as a very down to earth, pork rinds, beer and football type of director.

Most of this hate for him largely stems from principles and ideals. Largely from film snobs who don't feel his type of movies should do as well as they do, as well as the die-hard fan purists who don't like the liberties he takes with their characters.

He got death threats for putting flame decals on Optimus, his name is analogous to Adolph Hitler on IMDB. He tries to make fun movies and even though people may not agree with his creative directions with Transformers (and soon TMNT) his ideas don't retroactively change the cartoons people grew up with. They are unchanged.

Heck the original TMNT cartoon was a very poor adaption of the original comic book. The original black and white comic was a tongue and cheek parody of the gritty black and white comic market of the 80s. It was an intentionally stupid idea but because the cartoon was so popular, the perception of what TMNT is, is based off a very liberal adaption.

The Bayformers movies were definitely a mixed blessing (which I still find fun) and while they have problems, it renewed interest in the brand and paved the way for much better written Transformers media. (Transformer Prime FTW)

Just thought I'd share my opinion of why I don't think he his the devil of Hollywood. (that would be the Seltzerberg duo :P )

Yes, but of the two I was forced to go, I was bored out of ,my mind. Not because it wasn't "artistic". Because even among all the explosions, there was nothing that really set it apart. It was just a festival of lights with nothing to juxtapose it to. I mean, I don't hate the guy, nor his movies. Just that explosion fests are not always appealing even to that primal nature you speak of. Like in Kill Bill Iif you pluck out eyes in the Crazy 88 scene, I would be like. Okay. That's normal among all the action but when she did it to Elle, I was all like OMG FUCK THAT'S AN EYE OMG. Micheal Bay movies were all just meh, they had too much action spread around the whole movie.

tl;dr: Not good even for what they are

This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

The only Bay movies I've seen are the Transformer movies. 1st was meh, 2nd sucked horribly, 3rd was pretty awesome. He seems to come to terms with the fact that nobody gives a fuck about Shia or Megan (and thank god she wasn't in this one), we just want to see some giant robots kick the shit out of each other. 3rd had the best fights, the biggest explosions, and the most action, which is exactly what I want when I go see a Michael Bay movie with the guys.

Although, I really loved TMNT, and I'm not sure how well it will work when Bayified :/

Signature now 99% less edgy!

I watch Michael Bay films for the same reason I listen to dubstep: grungy, explosiony, dirty, coolness.

I do not watch Bay movies because they deep themes, tight plotting, brilliant stories, or great character development.

I watch them because they have splosions, attractive women, intense action scenes, great CGI effects, really cool scores, and super cinematography.

I also watch them because every once in a while, they do actually have pretty decent story telling and character development (EX: The Rock).

I'm kind of a film snob but I still enjoy Bay movies for what they are: action movies.

I'm pretty cool. I think.

Also, new OC (it has a cutie mark this time!).

I think it's kind of odd that Bay was making a TMNT reboot, I mean, I thought he was making another movie called ''Pain & Gain''.
