(I know I'm about to sound like an obnoxious salesperson here for a second, but that's simply because I love this game so much, so bear with me: *Sharp intake of breath*)

Long has one waited for the best representation of the incorporation of an 8-bit style game into the MORPG genre. And this is it! That game that you've always said in your head "Someone should really do that," someone has really done it! And they've been doing it incredibly well for over three years now.

"NEStalgia is an original MORPG inspired by the glory days of traditional console RPGs. Essentially "Dragon Warrior 3 meets World of Warcraft", NEStalgia is an amalgam of the best generations of RPG gaming. Players wage classic turn based battles in multiplayer parties while enjoying modern trappings such as a full-featured quest system. Those who prefer to go solo can recruit almost any monster in the game to fight alongside them as they explore every nook and cranny of NEStalgia's expansive 8-bit world."

You can play the entire game from start to finish without paying anything; the only perks you get by donating to the game is four new interesting - but completely balanced - classes, access to a slightly more efficient traveling system (but requires much more GP), and some additional vanity options. Pay-to-play players gain NO advantage at all over free players. You can't buy overpowered items, you can't buy gold, you can't buy levels, you can't buy pets, you can't even buy those cool TF2 hats, NOTHING, got it?

Now, in the past, it was a little confusing to run the game, which may have stopped some people from trying it. Those days are gone; the brand new shiny NEStalgia client makes running and installing the game just as snappy as running anything else you'd run on your computer.

The game features everything you want from an 8-bit MORPG: billions of quests, a leveling system, a talents system, a fully-fleshed out PvP combat system, gold, gear, and loot!

Play it, yeah??

Knowing it's an MMO is a turn off, I usually like these kind of games solo.

Special thanks to Midnightive for the sig~

I guess I just try too hard sometimes and in the end I'm the one who's left, still broken.

You could play on a PvE server, so no one can force you to fight with them. You can also get through the entire game without grouping up with other people, except the last area.

I would totally help out any newbs, too, team up for group quests, speed runs and such. I play on "Zenithia," the PvP server. I also belong to the biggest guild on the server - the "Balzackians." Pretty much setting you up right away with a rich, friendly experience.

I saw the post you made in the other MMO topic about this game and I showed it to friend and we decided to try it out. He went solider and I went Cleric. We went on the PvE server because there was a lot more people on at the time then the PvP.

We were playing it for a bit before and after dieing twice at the mouse and another time in the wild we decided the game wasn't for us. It just doesn't work that well as a MMO in my opinion. Also My friend was reporting he was getting lag and I'm unsure if that was due to his bad internet or low-end computer.

NEStalgia is attempting to appear in Steam's catalog, by way of the "Greenlight" campaign that started today. If you dig it, give them a +1 and help them succeed. This would be a prestigious honor for a truly deserving developer, catapulting their production out of the somewhat stagnant underground popularity it's experienced for the last three years. As a veteran of the game, I attest that its Free2Play protocol is outstanding; you can truly complete the game and compete in PvP as ably as any pay2play player.

Voting them in is as easy as clicking the link below, logging in to Steam and clicking the thumbs up and the "Favorite" button.

In celebration of the campaign, a Valve-themed dungeon was incorporated into the game, complete with portal puzzles, half-life references, and "King Gabe of Steamonia," acting as a final boss.
