I don't think those scenes are continues, since when Rainbowdash flying around the stadium, she travels only (12+1/2)*pi/2=19.6 inches on my screen while her length is 7/16 inches in 0.9s.

 

The speed of her rainbow around the Cloudsdale stadium has nothing to do with her speed returning. She could have slowed down while approaching the stadium (meaning that she was traveling even faster from her point of origin).

Even though, if her speed is almost 6 time faster, since her average speed is subsonic when flying downwards, her actual maximum speed is probably Mach 3 or Mach 4. Ranging from 600m/s to 1600m/s considering the possible composition of equestria atmosphere.

Why do people care so much about how fast Rainbow Dash is? I really don't care. I mean I'm sure Bugs Bunny has broken way over that speed, couldn't that bunny travel all the way to China in a matter of seconds while digging?

Rainbow Dash cannot reach mach 10 if we apply earth science into this situation here are the reasons. 

 

If RD is indeed traveling at mach 10 after she did the sonic rainbooom then the air molecules in front of her would be compressed and heated causing her to catch on fire. I don't think Dash had fire immunity. RD also didsn't catch on fire. 

If RD regularly flies at mach 5 then she would at least break the sound barrier, however in the cartoon she does not break the sound barrier even flying at her top speed. 

Using pure logic we know that a object traveling at mach 5 cannot be seen or is at best, a blur and nothing else. Rainbow Dash is fast but she didn't generate any afterimages. When performing the sonic rainboom rainbow dash is still visible to the ponies so yeah. ( RD might not been using her full rainbow power at that moment. )

That's insanely fast! Not sure if she goes that fast though when performing the sonic rainboom because Equestria has different physics than the real world.
