There is much to thank Fluttershy for - but in this case, I think it was almost entirely down to the determination of one tortoise; Dashie got the pet she needed, not the pet she asked for. As a bonus, she got a pet likely to live as long as she does.

Indeed. Rainbow's arrogance tends to get out of hand on occasion. Ok, most of the time.

Tortoises are very long lived though - if cared for properly (and it would seem Dashie overfeeds Tank on pies, but other than that...)
