yeah its kind of a depressing fact but then again its the price to see the world age new life and all that, also i think it would be a good think if they felt sad about it rather then be adapted and emotionless to it.

also considering there long life span wouldnet there be alot more Alicorns ... im gona shut up before i ramble on about there being a kingdom of Alicorns hidden from the rest of the world......

Well, you do not even really hear about death at all in the MLP universe. I am not saying that all the ponies are immortal because they definitely do age (if granny smith is any example) but you never hear about dead parents or grand parents in the mlp universe and you don't see very much mourning. So here are my thoughts, death does happen but it is a very rare occurrence in equestria. Since most all ponies are going to die of old age, no one is going to be tied up with mortality. With princess celestia and luna I am guessing they get their life force from their celestial counterparts, (the sun and the moon) which is why they live so long.

Actually I do not think you hear all that much about death in ponyville because ponyville is a relatively new town. As such it has hearty settler types who are no-nonsense and far fewer old ponies than young ones. Plus it has a pretty good location being closeish to canterlot and cloudsdale and fairly central with the railroad going through -- again though -- it doesnt scream retirement village.

Also being it is an earth pony settlement, it kind of lacks some of the magic that would make say a unicorn village a lot more "easy" to live in. Then there is pinky pie, the mane 6, etc -- I would say ponyville has a rep.

About the only retirer we have seen is Cranky Doodle and he was something different in that he had been everywhere else BUT ponyville, so settling down there made more sense.

Maybe this is why Celestia seems to like the ponyville ponies as opposed to say her general situation in canterlot where things might be different this way.

I also do not think ponies linger as much on the deaths of the prior generations. I mean yes you have historians, but Twilight types seem to be an exception not the rule.

I'm sure it is very hard for her being immortal. Seeing friends, subjects, and maybe even family dying before her. But still she is a leader, so she must stay strong for her people and her land.
