Am I the Only One That Doesn't Catch Hell for Being a Brony?

I never really caught hell for being a brony, I kind feel like the Lone Ranger on that front. I don't know if I'm just weird and everyone's accepted it or what. A list of reactions when people around me found out.

My Mom: "I never thought the so was bad", and "Why do people have a problem with this?"

My Dad: "They remade MLP?(In hindsight is reaction may not have been even that shocked if I didn't broach the subject by asking him to proof-read my possible Silent Ponyville story. Crossing it over with Silent Hill may have been the weird part to him.)

My friend Mark: "Hey, you got a new calender."

My sister: "I see those on car dashboards at the High School all the time."

My friend Dustin: *Coudn't care less when I tagged him in pictures on April Fool's Day*

Dustin's Brother; "I think he's more like Rainbow Dash"

My Stepdad: *Thinks everything after the 70s "new fangled watchmacallits, so couldn't care less*

My Whole Facebook: *Doesn't Notice*

Nope, sounds about the same as me. I changed everything on my Facebook pony and no one really noticed or cared. I'm definitely not complaining though. The only person who really gives me crap about it is my brother.

Your not the only one man :P I don't get much hate at all. Parents don't care, friends ether joined in watching or just accept I'm a Brony without question. Some friends just make a small joke about it here and there but nothing flat out insulting or tasteless. I tend to hang around really open minded loving people so I never really expected much hate.

Ya my friends were the same way but I haven't told my parents yet. How did you tell them? I would seriously like to know because I have no idea how to tell them. As far as Facebook goes no one has noticed yet. YouTube is really the only place I have ever received hate for being a brony. Also I have gotten like two rude remarks at school for wearing MLP shirts. Other than that I haven't has any problems.

I have a friend that doesn't seem to get any trouble for it. He changed his profile pic on face book to Vinyl Scratch, he wears a Vinyl Scratch t-shirt and he posts all sorts of pony stuff on facebook and no one says anything (as of yet). Maybe they think it's weird but just don't say anything, like this guy I know who thought it was weird but only said it to me and he still talks to my friend.

I've never gotten any hate for being a brony, but then again, I am female and in college, so I avoided both the "males shouldn't like this" mindsets and the immature middle/high school mindsets of people.

When I first became a Brony I feared the day people would know...

...but what a relief. No one cares! :D

I got the usual "wow that weird" for a little while. And the occasional snarky remark from family members, but most people I know are either okay or just indifferent about it.

I even have some friends who hate the fandom and don't see the appeal in the show who really have no reaction to me being a Brony. They were just like, "Oh okay. I don't like it but whatever."

I might if I knew more people. This isn't something I broadcast because it's not something that I think is weird and I don't feel like I need absolution for it. Everyone I'm close to knows that I've jumped completely into this. My parents were surprised but not shocked, so I explained to them why I like the show they thought it sounded wonderful. When I told them about what the show has done for people, and when I told them about the fan community and how much good they do for each other, they were impressed. I told my friends about it and they thought it unusual but weren't rude or hostile. After the explanation they were cool with it, though one of them still gives me a hard time just for fun.

One guy at work knows and doesn't care one way or the other though he agrees that it's absurd people would get mad over guys liking My Little Pony.

I can't recall a single person making fun of me for being a brony.

I do remember one dude saying "ponies are gay, man!" on the last day of school when the topic somehow came up.

But me and my peeps ignored them.

I don't know, if you ask this fandom, they might be inclined to agree.

But, yeah, you only catch hell about things if you PURPOSELY advertise them. Honestly, if you tell the world about something out of your own free will, don't act like a victim when people rail on you.

I agree there, it come down to how you carry yourself. Some people act like it's big deal, where as I treat it like any other show I might like.

Eh, my family and a few of my friends think I'm kinda weird, but they thought I was weird anyway. Apart from that, everybody else I know is either also a brony or doesn't care.

Exactly why I hate the term "in the closet". If someone doesn't need to know, and likely won't care to know, DON'T TELL THEM. You aren't going through extensive trauma and psychological torture just because you don't tell everything that moves about every little facet of yourself. Honestly, I hate people who can't realize you JUST DON'T SHARE CERTAIN THINGS WITH PEOPLE.

nah I'm not given any crap about it

but that's because of where I live....

In Texas, if you have the testicular fortitude to stand up in public and admit to something, people respect you for it. and even if they don't like you being into it, they'll stand up for you when people try to give you crap about it.

Are there any other bronies at your college? Nearly everyone I've talked here and on Reddit who are in college seem to have a little group going on. Where I'm at there's no brony presence I'm aware of. The school is fairly run-down and in a pretty ghetto area so I'm willing to bet that there aren't any secretly lurking about.

Well my parents could care less about it, but I have no courage to wear my shirts to school, or really ponyify anything I have. The thing is, I know my highschool, and they really will make fun of me, question me, and well give me crap about it. At my school, a place full of rednecks(nothing against yall or anything) and the ones who think sports are everything. Being smart at my school is one way to be looked down upon, and I'm not the smartest but of the people there I am pretty smart. But yeah.

There are other bronies at my college. I've even brought a few into the herd :D But we haven't really organized a brony group, sadly.

No one that I know seemed to ever care either. I think it depends on where you live, your age, and your gender. When you live in a more populated and diverse area, no one really cares if you like unconventional things (from my experience), people go about their own business.

Sounds like me, too. I know that feel.

Mom: *now loves the show too*

Sister: *Same*

One of my good friends: *same*

My best friend: *Couldn't care less*

My dad: *doesn't know, but if he did, he'd playfully tease me and then proceed to not give a shit*
