Samurshy 708 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 (edited) I have never ever had any problem with my bronyness within my rural community, but when I travel to a bigger city, like the one that has my college in it (only 30 miles away from my town) and I am wearing mlp paraphernalia people either A.) Stop and stare like dumbasses with their mouth hung open B.) Laugh at me behind my back. C.) Tell me I am awesome and that I should be proud and not care what others think D.) And this one rare occasion a guy actually got pissed off that I was wearing my fluttershy shirt, he said it misrepresented me and made me look like a pussy/child molester. I got up in his face and told him where exactly he should go and how he could get there. He just walked away, but I would have brawled with him if he threw the first punch... Ink 191 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 Nobody I know seems to care whatsoever. Which of course makes sense since it's no big deal. My little brother seems a little weirded out, alright, but that's to be expected. I frequently edit my new posts to fix grammatical errors or to reword stuff, so sorry if I make it look like I'm forging my messages to change the meaning of anyone's replies or something. Abstract 832 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 nah I'm not given any crap about it but that's because of where I live.... In Texas, if you have the testicular fortitude to stand up in public and admit to something, people respect you for it. and even if they don't like you being into it, they'll stand up for you when people try to give you crap about it. Are you sure you live in Texas? Try standing up for Obama sometime; respect jumps out the window faster than you can blink. (No, seriously... I hate this place.) Creamy Arty 6,252 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 The thing is, I know my highschool, and they really will make fun of me, question me, and well give me crap about it. At my school, a place full of rednecks(nothing against yall or anything) and the ones who think sports are everything. Being smart at my school is one way to be looked down upon No, being a redneck really is a bad thing, and for all the reasons you just described. I grew up in the sticks. Like most people from such places, I love working in the yard and gardening, and I enjoy fishing, own several firearms; am what some would call a "conservative," enjoy bluegrass music, and am content to spend a quiet afternoon lazing in a lawn chair with a cold beer. Many things that your typical southern-bred men like to do, I like them too. What made me a pariah amongst those with whom I went to school was that I also enjoyed technology, reading, art, and I formed my own opinions on things after thinking about them and giving fair consideration to other people's viewpoints. I was a "redneck" in all of my ways except for my methods of thinking. Somehow being a considerate person and liking things more intellectual than what was stereotypical of people from my home area made me a "faggot," a "traitor," and "un-American." Being a redneck has little to do with their interests and upbringing, and everything to do with how they treat others for being different. So yeah, there are plenty of things to be held against them. Or I could be nitpicking your use of the word. Sorry for rambling or dragging in some negative vibes, but I just replayed most of my childhood and adolescent years in the span of a minute, and it always gets me riled up. There are other bronies at my college. I've even brought a few into the herd But we haven't really organized a brony group, sadly. You're association with them is a great start. See if you can get a movie night or something arranged soon. Lots of potential for good times with several fellow bronies at hand. Abstract 832 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 (helped you out a bit there) They may start debatin' with 'ya but that doesn't mean they don't respect your views I've been spat on for voicing my positive opinion of him, and my car severely keyed incidentally right where I have (had) my Obama bumper sticker. Maybe the people are different in the part of Texas you live in, but "tolerance" is a foreign concept where I'm from. I would rather have Obama, then the out of touch 1% caterer who knows nothing about the other 99%. I am republican, from idaho, and I still would rather have Obama. and no offense I don't like the fact he is morman either I was a Mormon for a period of time. I'll say this; they are genuinely good, kind and caring people, and I envy the openness they have with each other and how pretty much every member is basically your family. It's a very comforting environment. However, a lot of them are disconnected from reality as a result, they tend to live in their own secluded world. Like I said, very nice people, just a bit off and closed minded. But none of this is either here, nor there. I'm gonna stop derailing the topic now. 1 "Let the steel of my resolve be not bested by the sum of my fears."

Cocodrillo 1,565 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 I haven´t recieved any hate (yet?). Fortunatelly for me, I live in a country where MLP is almost unknown show, not like the english spoken countries. I have pony avatar on skype. I also added two pictures as a contact pictures in my phone. For one friend, Rainbow Dash&Applejack brohoof, the second friend got Rainbow Dash&Flutteshy brohoof. I told the Applejack one that I´ve changed the contact photos and that he doesn´t want to see his one (he hates ponies hehe). I sent it to him, I expected some cool reaction but he couldn´t care less. Try to try again To see yourself again from time to time.
SrFrog 927 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 I really don't think the majority of people in real life care enough to show an actual displeasure for it. Sure, there's been some extreme cases of the contrary but it hasn't been a widespread thing. "Never give no manipulative bitch the benefit of the doubt" - Compa's grandpa... Alleviate 342 August 23, 2012 Share August 23, 2012 I'll begin the test to see if anyone notices when I ponify my facebook I never use because I don't have anyone on there that I want to chat with but yeah no one cares about me being a brony one kid said hopefully I'll grow out of it (which ant gonna happen) but he really didnt care. Eh, I'm gonna try that too now...Although, I have quite a lot of people on mine......Ah well, I know at least 30% of them won't care and at least 40% are already hating.....The other 30% should accept it though.. You've inspired me to do this, Here's an internet for good luck and thanks. As for anything else, You are as lucky as the trenchrats! I wish I was as lucky as you, Heh, my dad's scared of Silent Hill(3) ..I was playing it and he walked in, then he sat around for a bit watching....Then 'The monster in the locker' appeared and creeped him out so much Good times...And revenge for showing me serious gore-horror a few years back when I hated it...Now, however...Rock on SAW! SHR:3D Is coming! My Dad's no gamer, I think he just knew what it was from catching the movie on TV. He used to watch stuff Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so I doubt something like Silent Hill could get under his skin. I get get him with a screamer once though. Myself I prefer horror movies based on the paranormal, or real ghost stories over gore horror, I could just never get that creepy feeling from it. As for fandoms, I've had a furry fandom page under my likes for a long time and noone's said boo. I don't know if I'd call myself one though since I'm just in it for the artstyle and furry webcomics now. I pretty much plaster my facebook(even my profile picture) with ponies and noone complains, occasionally one of them will like the pics. I laughed when one of my old teachers though Futtershy's cutie mark was a tramp stamp. 1 "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. He doesn't usually get creeped out...But he sure don't like SH right now...The movie was pretty awesome, I have it now.I plan to show him the new SH movie that's coming out, That'll be hilarious to watch his reaction. Eh, The paranormal side of horror, I don't get that...It's okay, but it's usually so unreal (Scarey though!) It just doesn't get me the same way as things like AmityVille or Flash-Horror does. SAW is just fun to watch though (I have no idea why, everyone else finds it repulsive) I've got it! The teacher dude(ess?)
