Hansel 1,512 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 Even I, the pony who started this debate, did not intend for it to be like this but it was just a question that I wanted a sure answer to so I didn't go around calling the wrong ppl brony, sounding like an idiot. But now I see that it doesn't matter so I thank EVERYPONY for answering this and posting his or her thought or opinion. That's what these forums are for, posting your opinion because I asked for ti thanks! Much love! My comment wasn't actually directed at you, by the way. it was more of a general response. I just quoted that sentence because there's a fair bit of discussion happening and I wanted to go back and answer that specific question. 1 Pancakes taste like well seasoned DVD cases. Laxxay 4 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 Perhaps "dude" is better example. Typically it refers to a man, but as far as language goes, it merely means a person, regardless of gender. Okay I agree with that. I was just having trouble understanding why females would rather be called bronies over something specific to their gender, but your example was helpful. P.S. See you on equestria tv again sometime.
Nightfall 3,950 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 It works both ways for me. I mostly use it to describe every fan as a whole, but if I see a preference towards one or the other, I'll use that preference. I don't like making enemies...

I like that a simple question sparked a whole debate, and I'm sure I wasn't the first to start it hahaha! rolle 320 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 well, brony can be a combination of bro and pony you know (YES girls can be called bros instead of sisters becuz its shorter) also why be so specific with the gender Bronies are bronies not manlies... that just sound weird. 1 Current OCs Heathlife (alt1) Heltheain Magmosor
Honestly2awesome 24 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 I prefer Brony over Pegasister. It makes me feel seperated for some reason. Brony in my mind is totally for everybody. Bronies. We are united. And awesome.
SmileForever^.^ 128 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 The term 'brony' originated from the fandom's earlier day's, when we where slowly emerging from the mysterious lands we call 4chan. It is known as a fusion of the word board or quite frankly /b/, and our beloved specie pony; so: /b/ony = brony. As for the whole gender specification to the label...Rule 16. AND THAT'S HOW EQUESTRIA WAS MADE!!! My Role-play character /OC http://mlpforums.com.../_/melody-r1579
NavelColt 22,883 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 'Brony' gender specific?' has been merged with 'Brony, a term only for guys?', as they both discuss the term brony and if it is/should be gender-neutral as opposed to only males.
Zygen 6,066 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 Basically I'd be fine if a female called herself a brony, but If I where to come to a female who liked MLP i'd refer to them as a Pegasister just as the general thing I refer to them as. But I'd be fine with calling them either depending on what they like, however I don't think the opposite should apply, I think calling a guy a pegasister doesn't make any sense . I've heard girls call each other "bros" though, so I don't find calling a girl brony or a girl calling themself a brony weird at all really, I just refer to them as a Pegasister by default. Unless they want to be called otherwise. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! kain17 88 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 i think it is just a preference and if you like being called a pegasister then that's fine but i do believe that brony should stay a term used for the mlp community as a whole and not just for guys. so i will stay calling my self a brony ( as i'm a guy and it wouldn't change anyway) and i will keep calling both male and female watchers bronies and i've always done
Z Star 189 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 I refer to myself as a Brony, while I am obviously a female. I am 19 years old and I have loved MLP since I was a child! And I love this generation of ponies! I have merchandise and art. It's a wonderful thing to be addicted to, really! I am proud to be a Brony. Even my friends (who do not watch the show, but they love when I talk about it, they think it's cute lol) call me a Brony. I do not like the way Pegasister sounds. Just my preference. I love love love Pinkie Pie! But every pony rules!
Steve 290 January 13, 2013 Share January 13, 2013 my personal opinion is that brony is used for dudes and pegasister is used for women, although youre not necessarily wrong if youre a girl and call yourself a brony, its just that the term brony has bro in it, and i jsut find it weird to call a girl a bro, but thats just me Come to my xat http://xat.com/fyrestone PSN/Wii U - STVH1295 3DS FC - 5455 - 9682 - 0735Dueling Network Name - <STVH>
Paleopony 705 September 15, 2021 Share September 15, 2021 Girls are allowed to call themselves bronies, but some find the 'bro' part odd and call themselves pegasisters instead.

Ocean Breeze 5,128 October 10, 2021 Share October 10, 2021 Sorry but I hate the term pegasister, so I don't want anyone calling me that. :/ Literally, brony can be gender neutral.
