He turned to Maven.

"You don't have any songs..?"

"One would think she would be a bit more... maybe talkative or something that has to do with noise, considering she's a CELLOIST."

"Agreed, to some respects."

He shook his head, and tried thinking of some kind of spell, only to realize this cloaked pony would just copy it. He slowly inched his way over toward Maven.

"If I'm gonna die, I better at least have somepony I like next to me."

She Leaned into him, whispering, "Hope, Captain. We need your strength Nightfall." She put the flute to her lips, playing like she had the night before. It wasn't a song, per-say, but it was inspirational to their side of the playing field. Sapphire giggled.

Nightfall nodded. He had the sudden urge to just run in, attacking the demon, but he remembered that every time he did this, he was badly injured. Still, if it would buy time and save the others... No, he couldn't. It would make the demon think he's stupid. No, he turned, moved the flute from Maven, and kissed her.

"What the Mmm!?" She said as Nightfall moved the flute from her lips. She melted and kissed him back, happy, but worried. She actually put her hooves around his neck and pulled him into it. Her spirit soared, and her eyes started glowing faintly, even though she'd closed them. Green mist started curling off her body and the song she had been playing could be heard faintly.

Cherry Blossom paused for a bit while panting, but she soon started accelerating back to the alleyway where everypony was at. "Oh I hope that everypony is all right..." she thought to herself as she kept flying downtown, but she finally got to the area after what seemed like 10 or more minutes.

"If this is the same unicorn as before.." he muttered. When he arrived, the aura tipped him off as well.

"Hey, you bastard!" he shouted. "Do we need to do this thing again?"

 

"If its the same unicorn as before..." but the aura confirmed that it was.

The unicorn didn't even attempt to dodge any of The Hoof's strikes. Each strike collided with his Armor of Clay and made a horrid clanking sound. The hero was likely hurting himself more than him. "Of all the ponies attacking me, you are the least threatening." he said, "None of those punches had any spirit power."

"Yes, yes he does need to do this again." Jack said. He had followed Wits from the Warehouse without saying or doing a thing. "And all of you are being idiots right now. This kind of opponent is not someone you attack without a plan. He may not feel powerful now, but that is because his raw energy is completely unfiltered. The amount of energy he is holding back right now is, quite frankly, more than your rookie brains can comprehend."

"Alright I'm giving you one last, final chance to surrender and I will guaranteeyour safety...Please?..." Cherry Blossom pointed her assault rifle at the unicorn as she tried to keep her balance. "I just got here," Wits said. "Give me a break." He started to examine the situation. There was some pony wailing on him, but he could get through the Clay Armor, which was shielding from physical attacks.

 

"Hmmm...." he said, and he began examining the aura again, letting the Hoof of Justice be the distraction while he examined the aura for a weakening switch, the deeper aura beneath his "shield" one.

The Hoof was changing tacts. Instead of attacking full force, he was striking at a specific point, going for a fracture of the armor instead of total smackdown of his foe.

 

"Rather unsporting," he said. "What kind of coward keeps himself hidden like that?"

The green mist around Maven and Captain Nightfall slowly snaked its way over to the Hoof. It climbed up his hooves and went into his ears, collecting around his legs. Inside his head, Maven said, "Punch him again, and try to channel my spirit through your hooves. I'm not sure how much longer my heart-song will play, be quick."

"I disguised my energy because I didn't want your heads to explode." The unicorn said, "Sorry I can't stay around. I have to go think of fun ways to torture you."

 

The Hoof's attack met a cloud of wind instead of flesh. In place of the unicorn was a spectral wolf. This was his new favorite trick. The wolf beckoned for Magneus to follow, then jumped through the adjacent wall.

"Oh hey look~! Its super potato again!" he said and pointed a paw at the detective, "Bit of a nut if you ask me, reminds me of someone very close i know..." he smiled and nodded. "Hey, once were done playing here can we go out for pizza? I feel like a good ol hoof made pizza..." but then he just disappeared, a new spectral wolf in his place, calling him to follow. "Ooo~! Are we going for pizza now?" he asked as he followed the wolf.

Nightfall broke slowly from Maven. He noticed the demon was gone, and Cherry was back with Wits and Jack.

"Ah... Thanks, Maven..."

He turned to the others.

"Great. Now we know this guy is powerful, and a shapeshifter. So... I'm guessing that we go back now..."

"Don't say more. Someone could be listening."

 

 

Speedy landed on the ground just a few blocks from the building. She didn't know it was the warehouse, but who cared? Her thud created a small earthquake nearby. As she lifted her head up, she shook her mane back into a good looking position.

"Life. How good it can be," she said in her sweet voice.

"Celestia moon it!" Wits shouted. "Not again! That coward!" he immediately headed back to the base. "I need some calculations. I'm going to need a leyline or something. This guy can be beaten. We just need a strategy to track him down."

 

He paused.

 

"Maybe that other wolf..."

There was a flash and the normal Sapphire appeared outside of Den's body, looking shuffled. Den had forced her out. "Cherry, hold your fire! Ammo costs money!" He glared at the ethreal demon and his wolfish companion. He felt slightly violated, but Sapphire was happy because she knew she could reunite herself with Den.

The unicorn didn't even know what pizza was. Naturally, he shook his head 'No'. He began to lead Magneus to the forrest on the outskirts of town.

As soon as he broke the kiss, the green mist around them dissipated and blew away. She almost looked disappointed that it hadn't lasted longer, but she was happy for the time she did get. After all, who knew how much more time she'd have with Nightfall. It was a time to enjoy what she'd get.

((OOC: Did the unicorn and the wolf vanish to another location, or can they still be tracked down by hoof? I'll edit if I can't follow.))

 

Cherry Blossom dropped the gun at the order of Den, but she tried to look for the unicorn. "I want to protect the world, and I will!" She thought strongly as she tried to look for the the two. While flying, she tried to guess the direction of where they may have gone off to.

"Hey, this isn't pizza hut... what are we doing here?" he asked as soon as they were in the forest, he was looking around, he didn't see a pizza hut for a mile. "I think we have the wrong address..." he chuckled and sighed lightly. But then his form suddenly started to blur and stutter, and then three other spectral wolfs, all looking like him, appeared. "Aw crap, i knew this was going to happen sooner or later... uh... i should probably explain. When i use my spectral form i build up a bubble of power inside myself, when it gets too full it kinda... pops, and this is the result, they are all in my command"

"Well," Jack began, "at least none of you did anything stupid like using your most powerful abilities... Nobody used any abilities, right?"

The unicorn turned back into his pony form. "I want you to show me everything you can do." He said, "Show me your abilities."

"Not as far as I can tell, no... I didn't use my special one... You know, the one that killed that demon at the entrance of the asylum?"

Speedy walked around, looking at the warehouse with a curious eye. She walked up to the door, talking to herself as she always did.

"Somepony's working on something in here... Something that shouldn't be known... Hehe, best look inside..."

Cherry Blossom pulled out her pistol and hovered around the area, looking for them. "There's no point in hiding. Please come out with your hooves in the air." she said to them if they heard, as she kept patrolling the edge of the woods. "Where are they?" Cherry Blossom thought as she tried to keep a sharp eye out.

Sapphire nodded at Nightfall. Her horn sparked and she disappeared in a flash of light, reappearing at the renovation sight. She stretched.

 

Den flew over to Cherry, saying, "Hey, you alright? You did well today!" He was smiling.

 

Maven frowned, "Nightfall... He made me play my heart-song. He didn't know, but this time, he caught me by surprise; I couldn't hold it in. Does that count Jack?"

Cherry Blossom turned around to Den as she replied, "Though I guess thanks, but I didn't really do anything. I am getting over my shyness with you guys a bit." she giggled at his smile and gave him a hug. "I really have to thank you for saving me from those shards today."
