Den sighed and shivered. Sapphire, using the blue pegasus form that was her when she was inside of Den appeared and frowned at Wits. "Why are you holding him ba-ack??? We need to hurry so I can find Speedy! Didn't you see me merge with him earlier?" She sighs inwardly.

"It's not just the merging! Sapphire, your job, Tartarus, your duty is to be the balancing force for Den. If you are abusing that power for your own benefit, how are you any better then the people we are fighting? Speedy can take care of herself. She knows what she is doing, and she would never betray you. Just relax. If we do this the right way, it will be infinitely better for everypony." His eyes became pleading. "Please, Sapphire. I don't think I'm going to make it out of this one."

She hugged Wits, "Oh, Witsy, if he were really angry, he would be able to force me down and block me out. Now you are over-reacting right now. You need to relax because you are going to make this one." She stuffs a cupcake in his mouth, than grins. Her thoughts were hidden; Sapphire needed her, she could feel it in her gut.

Speedy got up and walked out, paying her tab. She was still pissed off. She thought about wandering off into the distance and simply getting out of here... but then Sunburn would kill her. And if she went back and started working for the cops again, Sunburn would kill her. She shuffled along, eyes on the ground, not noticing she was slowly heading towards some kind of underground mine...

 

Nightfall closed his eyes.

"Wits, I need a plan, fast. And Sapphire, I need a cupcake faster."

 

((OOC: They may be in an alternate dimension, but they must come back to the 'real' one before exiting the mine, right..?))

Sapphire smiled slightly and took out a cupcake. She passed it to Nightfall, "Everypony likes my cooking. Even... Speedy..." She broke into tears and shivered. Den looked saddly away from them, "If you felt what I just did now... I think I'm going to stay away from tall buildings for a few days."

Sapphire smiled slightly and took out a cupcake. She passed it to Nightfall, "Everypony likes my cooking. Even... Speedy..." She broke into tears and shivered. Den looked saddly away from them, "If you felt what I just did now... I think I'm going to stay away from tall buildings for a few days."

 

"Everyone should."

The soul clone, while the others were in a different dimension, had stayed in the first one. He had seen the non-pony, and transfered an image to Nightfall, but it wasn't too much of a worry yet. But then came Speedy...

"Sapphire, she's alive. Quick, we need to get to her... she looks hurt."

 

Speedy walked up to the mine ad sat down next to the soul clone.

"Captain," she said in her sulky tone.

Den looked like he just got beat up from the inside and shivered. An excited looking Sapphire was beaming, "She's alive!" Her aura (for Wits) went from depressing, and gloomy, to very bright and happy in less time than it took to count to one. She started bouncing up and down.

"... But, Sapphire, something isn't quite right with her... the connection through the universes' is a bit sketchy, but from what I can tell, she isn't well."

The soul clone just stood there, looking at Speedy, back at the city, then back to Speedy.

 

"And I would have expected such a strong, good captain as you to be with his crew and not abandon them to die."

She sobered up, "Oh. Well then, we have to go home. Which means we have to beat him. Got it." She pranced up to Greed and Glutony. "Hello, my name is Sapphire. It's really nice to meet you. Can we save this for another time please? I really need to get back to the real world."

 

Maven choked on a laugh in the middle of a song.

(We'll finish this fight quickly, then go back before fighting Sloth and the real Karasu.)

 

"I'd like to get to the mine too." Greed replied in a condesending manner. "I think I'll kill your friends, then force you to take me there. After that, I'll kill you, then everyone else! Sound like a plan?"

 

He stood tall, then let out a short, deep laugh.

If you kill Patches, you won't know where the key to that safe is. If you kill Den, you won't know where he keeps his files. If you somehow manage to kill Jack, you won't know where he keeps his magic items. If you kill me, you won't have my pastry recipes. If you kill Maven, you won't know where she keeps her cello-case full of bits. That's a lot of knowledge you miss out on; Den has records on a lot of criminals in his stash."

"Do you think I care about that if I plan on killing myself?" Greed asked. "I said I was going to kill everyone! That includes me! I just have to go last to make sure the world is fixed first." He panned over the eight heroes. "I'll have to kill you one at a time..." He thought aloud. "Maven, I think I'll kill you fist. On acount of you being so damn useless."

 

He clenched his throat and shot out another green ball.

"Useless... But I'm... I... Nightfall doesn't think I'm use... Nightfall doesn't think I'm useless!" She turned and kissed him, and the light green mist I mentioned earlier sprang up around them. Instead of faintly being heard, however, her heart song roared. I small, lance-like green laser shot at the ball.

Wits stood thoughtless. "Hm.... he appears to be rather slow, but very good at using his powers," he muttered. "He's also greed..."

 

"Greed," he said. "You are truly the most powerful among us? Wouldn't be destroying yourself the greatest prize of all? And furthermore, the more you attack us, the likelier it is you won't be able to manage the power necessary to defeat yourself in the end. If you want the biggest chance of gettin the biggest prize, suicide right now is the best option."

Nightfall eventually broke for a few moments.

"Of course you aren't useless, Maven."

He kissed her again, keeping the song roaring.

 

Shelby looked at the soul clone.

"Since when did you become a mute, captain? Normally, you would have greeted me, but you're silent... cat got your bloody tongue?"

 

"She's pissed... but why? I'll need to let Sapphire know eventually..." Nightfall thought as his eyes closed and he continued kissing Maven.

"... What the Hell are you talking about? Are you trying to confuse me?" He asked. "It's not gonna work!" He coughed out a fourth energy ball at Nightfall and Maven.

 

(Here's two hints on beating him. #1: He isn't capable of holding unlimited power and hiving him too much will hinder him. #2 Beating him will give you back any power that he has not used already.)

Maven pulled him into a closer, tighter kiss. She gave up her sense of identity for the kiss, relishing it as her heart soared. The song-mist grew more dense, it caught the ball. The mist slowed it to a stop, and started spinning it. As it spun, it injected it's self into the ball until it was pulsing green. Then it shot it back at Kargreedsu.

"Y'know what, I'm just gonna give the shippers a moment and let you two handle this one," Wits said, stepping back. "I've gotten 2 of these mother buckers, I can handle giving you guys this one."

 

 

 

He then backed off. Something back was happening, he could tell. And he needed to be ready. He needed to use all of his power on this one.

Sapphire and Den had separated, and flanked Wits. Sapphire was happily giggling, and Den was focused on his superior, "Can I help, sir? Or is this something you think you have to do alone." He was studying Wits's concentrated face, and he adjusted the bone-crown, "Shamans have an abundance of spirit. I'm not an accomplished shaman, more like I inherited it, but I still possess more than my share of spirit," he nodded to Sapphire, "Even with her out of my system."

"I think... this one is me. But I would relish any residual power you could give. Just save enough to finish off Sloth, and I'll try and take care of Karasu, once and for all. From there, you should run. A being as powerful as he is is going to have significant fallout once he goes down..."

Den nodded, and his eyes closed. Behind the eyelids, and blue gathered around his feet. It swirled into a circle, which transformed into a eight-like shape. The two circles, one under Wits, the other under Den. The spirit energy, usually wild, was very controlled. There was a feeling that it wanted to break away, however his spirit-circle around Wits began to spiral of the ground into a funnel. The energy hit a point under his breast bone and began to fuel his body. The effect on Den was instant; he took a knee and grunted, but if anything, the power seemed to trickle out faster.

Greed puffed out his chest and absorbed the energy from his own attack. He chuckled, "You guys seem pretty damn slow, so I'll give you a hint. If my energy absobtion scales can work on your energy, they sure as Hell can work on my own!"

 

"His body isnt made for that technique." Jack said softly so karasu couldnt hear. "This personality doesnt have the spiritual disipline karasu did. If he takes in much more power, he will be hindered. But I dont know if we'll be able to get it back."

Maven broke the kiss with a gasp. She smiled playfully, "Are you gunna let me do all the work?" She stroked his cheek and brushed her main out of her face. She blushed and put her nose against his, waiting fro him to kiss her. The mist seemed to pulsate as she wrapped her hooves around Nightfall.

Wits tilted his head. "There's a leyline underneath here, or at least close by. Why isn't he just going after that? With that he could gorge himself to no end. Why doesn't he just go for that? Maybe he's just not quite strong enough to absorb all that he could want. Eyes bigger than your stomach, good sir?"
