He put his front legs to his sides and laughed again. "You can't do anything as long as I have my energy absorption! You got no real muscle!"

Maven broke the kiss with a gasp. She smiled playfully, "Are you gunna let me do all the work?" She stroked his cheek and brushed her main out of her face. She blushed and put her nose against his, waiting fro him to kiss her. The mist seemed to pulsate as she wrapped her hooves around Nightfall.

 

(Shipping ftw, love on the battlefield.)

 

"Of course not."

He leaned in himself, kissing her just as she had kissed him, just with more passion. He let Maven wrap her hooves around him, and he did the same to her. In the back of his mind, he was still wary of Speedy though.

 

"You know, captain," she said. She was starting to calm down a bit. "I was thinking... Maybe it's time you gave up... you know, this city is just about a lost cause."

"Of course not."

He leaned in himself, kissing her just as she had kissed him, just with more passion. He let Maven wrap her hooves around him, and he did the same to her. In the back of his mind, he was still wary of Speedy though.

 

"You know, captain," she said. She was starting to calm down a bit. "I was thinking... Maybe it's time you gave up... you know, this city is just about a lost cause."

 

"Hey, assholes, I'm talking to you!" Greed roared. "I'm not letting you two go on any further! You've had your last kiss, now say goodbye to each other!" He created a transparent blade out of the same energy in his scale armor that produced the same energy-stealing effect and charged at Maven and Nightfall. Maven accepted his kiss and returned it. She could sense he was distracted, so she tried to increase her end, feeling she was not doing enough. The green mist solidified into lots and lots of spears, and the mist itself kept regenerating. The spears lodged themselves into the ground around Grutony and linked to each other. Once linked, they flashed, and inside them began to sound like a rock concert, which, combined with Maven's abilities, was not only really loud, but incredibly destructive. She kicked Nightfall out as the cage part of the song dropped down and her sword shot up incredibly fast. She smiled beautifully, singing, "Shall we dance, Mr. Greed?"

"You just don't get it, do you?" Greed cried over the sound of the music. He opened his mouth wide and began to suck the power from the spears and the mist around them, weakening Maven's spell. As he started to absorb the power, his own energy became easier to sense. It felt as if the power was too much for him to use, and was now trapped inside of him, growing stronger, but doing nothing. "You don't get it, do you? You cannot weaken my heart-song; there's only one pony here who could do that.". She licked her lips and grinned, "Oh, what wonders must be in my future. You wanted the weakest pony here," she said, taking off her own mask and whipping her hair out of her face. She flicked her sword up and sang. The sword glowed faintly green with the song.

He grabbed her tightly, but not too quickly. He kissed her again, interrupting her singing by her own voice. In the back of his mind, Nightfall gave his soul clone permission to talk to Shelby with limited speech. Then he set the whole affair to the side.

 

The soul clone sat down next to Shelby.

"Shelby, spill out your problems."

The first words it had ever spoken. It almost gave Shelby a jump, because it sounded like Nightfall mixed with a bit of ghostliness.

"And if I say no, captain?"

"That's real cute." He said, "But this stuff is still plain old energy, and that means it's on the menu!" Greed tried to suck in more and more of the mist. He started to feel a pain in his stomach like someone would feel when they ate too much, but he ignored it. "You've got a lot of this shit, but it aint unlimited!" Maven broke the kiss momentarily and looked over at Greed, "Try me." She kissed Nightfall harder, passionately forcing him onto his back. (It's just a kiss guys. A tackle kiss.) The mist pulsated and plunged into Greed, filling him faster, and it still replenished. Her voice sounded slightly echoy as she broke the kiss and stroked his cheek,"I love you, Nightfall."

Wits sighed from the back of the pack.

 

"I wish for once there could be a major incident without a major declaration of love. But that's business, I s'pose. Let's just get this over with. Greed, you're about to die, aren't you? Why not just let Karasu through? He's a greater part off you. If he takes the kills and you're intact, its like you got the kills, too."

"We've got to do something!" Patches cried. He tried to run into the fight, but was stopped by Jack.

 

"Do what I'm doing and save it for the last fight." He said. "If you paid attention, you would know that Greed has already been defeated."

 

Greed took a break from gorging in energy to respond to Jack's comment. "What the hell are you talking about? In case you haven't noticed I can't-" He gripped his chest and hurtled on the ground in pain. "I feel like..."

 

"Like you don't have room for it all?" Jack finished.

 

"It hurts..." Greed fell unconscious with his mouth still open. Maven's energy came spewing out of his mouth and mixed with the mist in the air.

 

"Well kids," Jack said. "That's why you should never over eat. What ever Maven just did was exactly what we needed - and where the Hell did Karasu's body go?"

 

Karasu's body was no longer where it was moments earlier and couldn't be seen.

 

(Will we go back to the real world if Sapphire falls unconscious?)

"Would this be Sloth then? You're lazy, aren't you? Just give up real quick and let Karasu do the dirty work. I want this over with. I've got plenty of power stored up and I don't want to waste this. We are about to shake the very elements themselves. This is the power of Harmony."

 

As Wits spoke, his voices echoed.

 

"I suppose I'll take Magic. Nightfall, you'll be Loyalty, Sapphire will be Laughter, Den can be Honesty, Jack would be Generosity, and how about Cherry for kindness? That's a full set. You cannot defeat Harmony. It is the most powerful magical force in existence. Stand down. Now."

"Wits, what the Hell are you talking about?" Jack and Patches asked at the same time.

 

"I don't intend to fight." Sloth said, but it was impossible to tell where he was. "Too much effort involved."

 

Patches yawned and shook off a tired feeling.

 

"You don't have to fight any longer. You've gone so far. You've done so much. You deserve a rest. The world will go on without you."

 

"I feel... kind of tired all the sudden." Patches said with a yawn. "Maybe you guys can take sloth and I'll rest up for the final battle."

Wits blinked a couple of times, too. "Yeah..." he said. "I think your right. Nightfall, Maven, you got Greed, you can get this one too, right? I might just... I might just take nap. That way, when we fight Karasu, I'll be able to take him for sure. I just need a nap, and.... " *Yawn.* "be golden."

Den shook his head; this cheap mind- magic had very little efect on him, "Snap out of it Patches; your stronger than that."

 

Maven's energy shot back into her, and split between her and Nightfall. She broke the kiss, grinning.

 

Sapphire moaned, and the cave reformed around them. She saw Speedy and immediately perked up, tackle-hugging her.

Karasu was now visible, standing exactly where he was before they were teleported. "What is this?" He asked as he saw speedy. "An intruder? An escaped worm? I made myself very, very clear..." He closed his eyes and the feeling of exhaustion left the air. He was no longer Sloth. "I said no extra guests or the game is over!"

"Karasu," Wits said. "I am Detective Specialist Wits End. I am here to take you in for murder, attempted murder, and generally being an asshole." He pulled upon the power of the rune tar. "However you, or your multiple personalities, have attacked my people. For that there is no justice. So I am going to kill you." With all the power of a sun, he lunged at Karasu with fantastic speed and struck at him with rune-tar tentacles, hoofs, and a horn filled to the brim with energy.

"YOU STUPID CHILD!" He screamed, "DO YOU THINK YOU COULD TAKE ONE TENTH?!"

 

The room filled with a dull, yellow light that carried a deep feeling of sorrow, love, and hatred. A thicker concentration of this energy emitted a few feet from his body and kept Wits from getting any closer. It was like trying to walk through an invisible wall that was completely unbreakable. That wall expanded further away from his body to push Wits away.

Wits gritted his teeth. "I AM WITS END, DETECTIVE SPECIALIST AND CHOSEN OF CELESTIA!" He drew deeper upon his rune tar, and into the reservoir banks of energy, and into the pieces of himself he never touched. "AND YOU ARE NOTHING!" He charged at full strength, drawing out everything to try and move towards him.

"You're making a fool out of yourself." Karasu said as Wits was only able to push back his aura a few inches. "This is Sacred Energy. You can't overpower it because it is not a part of the physical realm."

 

"He's lying!" Jack said, "That takes forty years to master at the least! He's only been gone for twelve."

 

"And forty years divided among seven personalities is less than six."

 

(You have to understand that Wits isn't going to beat Karasu by himself.)

"Spiritual energy," Wits muttered. Den had given him some of that. He etched it onto the very end of his power, like putting diamonds on the end of a saw to make it more powerful.

 

"EVERYPONY!" Wits shouted pleadingly. "Lend me your aid! Give me your energy! Help me!" A ball of energy formed in the center of Wits, very delicate...

Patches touched Wits on the shoulder and tried to give him as much power as he could.

 

"I don't have time for you." Karasu said. "Each individual one of you is even weaker than Rando! Put all of your power together and you will still fail. Let me show you why." He held out one hoof and Patches was thrown back into the cave wall before he had enough time to give any energy to Wits. When he hit the ground, there was a large crack in the rock wall. "One down." Karasu smiled at Jack. "While you have been feeling sorry for yourself, I have learned to turn my hatred for you and this miserable race into raw power. I understand what my other personalities have done, and I feel much guilt for it, but I also understand that it is necessary. This world is worth saving from the worms. They will eat and destroy until nothing is left but piss!" He grew angrier and sadder, causing the energy around him to become stronger. "Sacred Energy is about harnessing your own emotions and controlling them. Do you even know what emotions are, Jack? It also requires an understanding of the world around you and a need to correct it. That is something Celestia discovered she did not possess." He looked at Wits. "Even your Princess has her limits."

For a second, Wits was silent. Then his eyes glowed. Most of the time, his magic had a yellow aura.

 

This time, his eyes were purple.

 

"Patches is a child." He said, calmly. "Patches is a child."

"You don't hurt children." His rage flared, and so did his powered. "YOU. DO. NOT. HURT CHILDREN." His power spiked, not just magical but also physical energy, spiritual energy, the rune tar, and even traces of demon energy. "YOU DO NOT HURT CHILDREN!" He poured with all of his strength into Karasu, his flesh beginning to burn. As he began to bleed, the blood was drained into blood magic. Wits was burning himself and drawing energy and focusing it all on Karasu, going for the kill, going for death.

When Den get's pissed, it's a very special kind of pissed; it focuses his thoughts, hardens his emotions, and raises his spiritual energy. This said energy pulsated around him in a blue, sheild-like area. "No pony hurts my family. I do not care if you are a street-rat or a god, nopony hurts my family." Out of the mists of his energy, a sword appeared, droping it'sself into the ground. It looked ancient, and it pulsed in rythem to his aura. He grabbed it and appraoched Karasu, stabbing the magical feild around the pony.

"Do you think I enjoy what I have to do?" Karasu asked as his barrier gave him a few moments to speak. "I will morn every one of your deaths. You will be eight more souls lost fighting for the wrong side." Den and Wits were able to get close enough to harm him, but the angered assault was extremely predictable. Karasu knew they would react this way, and was able to gracefully evade any death blows, only losing the occasional hair on his mane. "Anger does you no good if you cannot control it." He said as he ducked under Den's sword. "Without the proper discipline, it only makes you weak and predictable."

 

Jack crouched next to Patches and wrapped his chest with his old head wraps to care for two broken ribs. He was unconscious, but breathing.

 

Karasu managed to kick the tip of Den's blade to where it was dangerously close to hitting Wits instead.
