Jerked his head. Black was starting to creep up his forelegs. The rune tar was fusing with him, increasing his power exponentially. His eyes went black and his teeth were sharp, and the tentacles grew and multiplied into dozens of deadly, flinging whips. His aura surged and he pushed with all his might.

 

"Karasu, you are weak!" He shouted.

Den grunted, drawing his sword back, "Boar, you serve me well, but this is a fight for a different kind of power. I call on my brother, the spirit of the wolf," he whispered into the sword." His sword changed to a good sized dagger, and his tactics changed to match the weapon. Replacing the crown was a mask that covered the right side of his face.

The cave grew very cold; This pony had just comitted no-no. He'd hurt Den's family, now Den was pissed. When Den get's pissed, it's a very special kind of pissed; it focuses his thoughts, hardens his emotions, and raises his spiritual energy. This said energy pulsated around him in a blue, sheild-like area. "No pony hurts my family. I do not care if you are a street-rat or a god, nopony hurts my family." Out of the mists of his energy, a sword appeared, droping it'sself into the ground. It looked ancient, and it pulsed in rythem to his aura. He grabbed it and appraoched Karasu, stabbing the magical feild around the pony.

 

Sapphire looked at the wall; it took her all of two seconds to figure out what happend. She helped Wits charge his ball of mass.

 

Maven stared at this Karasu pony; she had a lot of excess energy to burn, and she'd just found her target. She through her energy into Wits's ball.

 

Nightfall poured his energy into Wits' ball.

"If a child is killed, then the killer is a villain. No matter his past."

The sudden loss of energy made him a bit weak, and the soul clone connection was beginning to fray.

"Sapphire, I'm going to have to shut off the soul clone and we won't be able to see Shelby until we get out of here..."

 

"Well? Anything else to say..?"

"You're sadly mistaken," Karasu said as he jumped back and landed on all fours. "As I said earlier, you can't take a tenth of my power. Let me show you how much that is." His aura swirled around him and burst into a vertical beam that crashed trough the roof of the cave, causing rocks and other debris to rain into the cave.

Wits' tentacle flew out, grabbed the debris, and threw it towards Karasu. Given the incredible power his friends were given him, the rune tar, his own power, he was godlike. He could grab the moon and shift it, but he'd rather grab Karasu and send him to hell.

 

More than that, the fact of the matter was that he had established a network. A smaller version of the Elements of Harmony. All of them were at their peak, and they knew it.

Den flanked him, his form shimmering. Then a different him took a position. A circle of Dens formed around Karasu. Each had a different headdress. "Circle of the wild," he intoned. To his right, Sapphire, also in a shaman outfit, smiled. Hers looked like a swan. "With the power invested in me, as a descendant of the Lost Tribes, you will not leave this cave." His daggar changed into a staff that he ponded against the ground. It's wolf-headed top shimmered, it's eyes glowing blue. The forms dimmed and a different Den dropped into the circle. This one had the look of a person/pony used to getting beat, and getting back up. He drew a daggar, "Come and get me."

"You are using everything you have. I can tell." Karasu said as he scanned across Den's clones. "Sad that it is so little. I will not go easy on you just because you are weak. There is no mercy to be given to the worms or those who defend them." The yellow aura in the air thickened, giving everything a visible, yellow tint. With every breath, the ponies could feel Karasu's sorrow fill up, then leave their hearts. A few violant, rock splitting beams shot out from the thicker aura closer to KArasu's body, causing the hole in the cave's ceiling to expand greatly. "Forgive me." He continued. "It's been so long since I've used this much of my power, I'd forgotten how fragile the world is by comparasin. That's the only real drawback to having this much energy. The physics of this reality can't hold it. Quite literally, my Strength is my weakness."

Den was unimpressed, twirling his knife, "The common trait in bullies is they all think their powerful. When they really are powerful, well, if you were sin, your name would be arrogance. The worms call for you Karasu." A low moan comes from the clones as each produces a drum. The beat them, but nopony can hear them.

"Do not mistake my confession for arrogance. I do not wish to harm this planet. I love trees, I love birds, and I love this cave. The only thing I hate is all the ponies." The Sacred Energy around Karasu thickened into a solid, yellow, robe-like outfit. The force required to compress the energy into a solid substance caused the ground beneath him to shatter and crack, creating a small crater. "Sacred Energy Armor."

"You the your own race enough to attempt mass-genocide. That it's self is more than enough for the code of the wild. But you threaten my pack, this is something I cannot except." The area around them turned dark, and the eyes of the circle members glowed. Den gripped his dagger and darted in, jumping back to avoid a counter attack. He was trying to push him towards Wits.

There were ponies in the town. The black crawled up Wits' legs. There were innocents who needed to be saved. His forelegs gained smoky tendrils of black. He was a police officer. The darkness encompassed his torso. His eyes were a gate into eternity. Power leaked from him.

 

"Blue..." he whispered. "Why is everything blue?"

 

His core began to torque and move. Suddenly it wasn't just a trickle of power anymore. It was just a flood, but one that with every drop lost began to generate more and more power. His allies would have it seep into them, have it empower them a ton.

 

"Critical." Wits said, tears dripping out of his eyes. "I'm going..."

 

"NIGHTFALL!" He shouted. "Get everypony out of me. Give me whatever you can and then run. This is about to end, one way or another. Karasu, by the old laws of spirit magic, I claim Vendetta, with my current power levels being sufficient to fulfill the task. I challenge you to a Duel, with appropriate sanctions should you refuse."

The minute he said that, the circle changed from Dens to a bold blue line. "Laws of Vendetta..." He murmered as the knife changes to a staff, "Must be presided over by a judge. I seem to be... The only shamna here..." Possibly alive, "So I will represent the judging party. On my authority as shaman of the Wild, Vendetta has been claimed against you. Do you accept?"

He trotted over to the mares.

"Come on, let's do as Wits says. I don't either of you hurt."

He looked at Den, then at Wits.

"If both of you are staying, I want a single promise from each of you: you will try your best not to die. That would only bring much grieving."

Den nodded, "Yes sir." He waits patiently for Karasu to respond to Wits' Vendetta. He wasn't to familiar with the rules, but he had a feeling something would tell him if something went against the rules. It felt old, like a thing ancient in the time of his ancestry. Dangerous, too.

"You stupid child!" Karasu cried. "You think this is about yourself? I'm not here to challenge you one on one!"

 

"To put it lightly." Jack said to Wits. "If you fight Karasu now you will die and he will survive. He's at ten percent right now and you're pushing past a hundred! Some conflicts are a lot older than you are. Karasu is my wrongdoing and I will not allow you to fight him alone."

"A Vendetta cannot be withdrawn until one side or the other is dead. A Vendetta can, however, be changed into a blood-fued. Blood fueds are fought between to sides of a Vendetta, using their allies. "I do not intend to live."

 

Then he attacked Karasu in the way most likely, though not necessarily certain, to cause him some sort of harm however that may be becuase goddammit Snails this has gone on too long and no one has done anything and you can't keep explaining everything away with "Karasu is just too powerful" and in all honesty fighting is supposed to be about character growth and stuff not "I AM MORE POWERFUL" like this is degenerating into.

"A Vendetta cannot be withdrawn until one side or the other is dead. A Vendetta can, however, be changed into a blood-fued. Blood fueds are fought between to sides of a Vendetta, using their allies. This is all I can do without breaking ancient law. You cannot break ancient law without destroying the planet."

 

"Destroy the planet you say?" Karasu asked in a condescending manner. "Well then, I accept. It will be the seven of us against all of you that are still able to fight."

 

(I'm just going to ignore infinity whales last post until he changes it. The I'm more powerful monologue is just part of Karasus character, and saying that you 'attack in a way that will hit' is not a valid post.)

 

Wits looked at Jack.

If I cannot pass this trial, you are free to do as you wish. But I severely doubt it.I have faced foes larger then myself before. Larger then you, and managed to defeat them. You are just another thing to check off my list.

 

"Everything rides on this fight's outcome and you want to go it alone?" Jack exclaimed. "Karasu nearly killed Den and Cherry's child. He's stolen Nightfall's memories, and he's my former friend! Of all of us here, this fight is the least personal for you!"

 

"I love the idea." Karasu interrupted. "But I'd like to up the stakes. Wits, I will fight you one on one, but, in order to keep the others from getting bored, they will fight the other six." He lifted himself a few feet into the air with his Sacred Energy and put his front two hoofs together. He took in heavy breaths and exhaled with loud grunts. One by one, the six other versions of him arose from the shadows behind him. Rage, Envy, Sloth, Greed, Lust and Pride. "Saint Beast Technique: Prism of Seven!"

Den stirred, a robe having appeared on his person, "That would solidify this as a blood-feud. The rules of engagement change. You'll have to spell out all of the rules before hand. Everything afterwards is given the benefit of the doubt. Is this change acceptable to both parties?"

Karasu tilted his head to the left, popping a few joints, then said, "I don't know your damn rules of engagement, and Maker forgive me, I don't care. I'll kill Wits one on one while you fight the other six. After that's over, I'll kill the rest of you and all of the worms. Does that follow your little rules?"

Den smiled faintly, "It depends; if you make us fight you dopplegangers, will it weaken you? Fueds have to be fair turf, so to speak. It's one of the things that make them so dangerous. Whole tribes have been wiped out by fueds in the past. However, I was looking more toward Wits to define your personal rules of engagement."

"He's already been weakened, and he'll be weakened when he does so again," Wits said. "I agree. But we select the matchups." He stamped his hoof and summoned a magic circle, then dripped blood into the circle. "Blood for blood. One stream lives, the other dies." He held out his hoof. "Deal?"

"Do you really think summoning those six weaklings would drain my power enough for you to have a chance at victory?" Karasu asked. "Jack was right for once. You are a dimwit. I will accept these terms. Blood for blood." He concentrated a small amount of energy to the tip of his left front hoof, forming a sharp edge. He sliced into his right hoof and drizzled blood into the circle.

 

The other six stepped around them and faced down Jack, Den, Maven and Nightall. Seeing that their opponents were outnumbered, Sloth chose to sit down and watch the others.
