Ponyville Crossing: The ultimate MLP game?

In a moment of nostalgia I recently remembered in my high school years, that I played a game called Animal Crossing. I ask that you read my idea here, because I think it has serious potential! For those of you who have played it, you know that MLP and Animal Crossing fit hand in glove in many different ways!

For those who aren't familiar, Animal Crossing is a game (for DS, Wii, and Gamecube primarily) where you play as a human in a town full of animals in which you make friends and live life. Sound familiar? Well, you haven't heard anything yet.

In Animal Crossing you can get money in a variety of ways including: growing apple, orange, pear, and trees with a variety of other fruit (the fruit falls down once you actually go up and shake the tree), fishing and selling your fish, running errands for items for your friends, designing clothing, and engaging in a wide variety of other activities which are generally what you would expect from a town full of animals.

There are also a wide variety of bonding activities such as birthday parties, new years celebrations, and other holidays in which everyone in the town gets together, shoots off fireworks, and enjoys one another.

In addition, there are a variety of animals with different personalities who speak in distinct ways with you. Including, if I remember correctly, one who even calls the player "sugarcube". The game functions in real time, keeping track of how much you play, and the seasons change as they would in real life.

This game, with a few tweaks, is essentially a free roaming version of My Little Pony. This would not be just another flash game (though those are awesome!) it would be a full-on free-roaming, interactive, ponyville clone; mayor and all included. If the character models were exchanged for pony models with new dialogue written in and a few other additions; this could be, by far, the most interesting and addicting MLP game.

There are, of course, two limitations. First is copyright and second would be modding the current game because there are very few people who know how to mod Nintendo DS (or Gamecube) games. Still, I'd be curious to hear everypony's opinion on the ideas I've listed here. What do you think?

Thanks! ^_^

OMG that would work so well :P The character models would be pretty cool. Customising my little pony and mah own wee crib. It would be crazily addicting though.

I've been thinking about ways that one could make a good official MLPFIM licensed game that feels accurate to the show, but I never really thought of any.

But an Animal Crossing style game would be really neat. Make your Pony, buy a house in Ponyville, make cash to buy furniture and other things, and making friends with the NEIGHbors!

It would actually be a good way to emulate the feelings of the show in a video game.

You'd never be able to have a licensed MLP game. The cost of obtaining this license would be absurdly high.

I've never played Animal Crossing, but modding it could probably slide under a fan work. You'd probably be more hard pressed to find people who could make the models and mode the actual files.

It's an interesting idea, but it would probably be better to make it from scratch.... in 2D... with an experienced team...

Yeah, I wouldn't ask for an exact mod necessarily; but something like it with 2-D colorful sprites could work too. I'm just talking about the mechanics of the game in general.

If somebody could get a gamecube ROM of the game, do a little wizardry, it could work out, and I would definitely love it.

Animal Crossing Related: Resseti, the mole that hassles you if you reset without saving used to scare the daylights out of me when I was younger lol
